  • I'm very confused about this. From today, I realized that your algorithm for this tool changed. For example, I have search KC for this keyword before: suitcases for kids has KC is 23. But today I checked it again and it's 43. How can I deal with this new data? Is KC is good for determine that a keyword is easy to rank for ?

  • I sat on a .com domain,  which name become increasing popular  (xyzselfie) for 2 years ... 4 months ago I hired a VA to do a task. A miscommunication made this person submit my domain to the spammiest directories the internet has to offer. Also because of the domain name and the .com a lot of asian or weird sites/things posted links to my site. I have worked on my site for the last 4 months trying to lower my spam score from a 9. I have:
    -Disavowed all the sites that pointed to my site.
    -Made more internal links
    -Tried to make my content thicker
    -Included my email and social profiles to the site In the process my competitors site with exact domain name but .net and more authority came on auction, I bought it and I pointed it with a permanent redirect to my site (hoping my site would in time lose its spam score). This site will generate and income by appearing in search and adsense ads. After months of work I'm at a loss what to do. Does the spam score generally take long to drop? Should i try and stop the permanent redirect and direct my .com to the .net domain? Are there experts who can lower my score? Should I look for non spammy directories in its niche and submit my site to them to increase link authority and nofollow links ? Any feedback or insight would be highly appreciated. fFtTOFk

  • Hi, I plugged in a bunch of keywords to know their search volume, chose Google from the drop down and then chose English from the next dropdown and clicked on Check dificulty. It shoes me "Bing Search Volume (Exact Match)" on top but shows the name of the keyword and "for Google CA" on the left. Is the search volume for Google? or Bing? and the difficulty as well? Google or Bing? "

  • Hi Moz, I am using the keywords difficulty tool from your site and find it is quite useful 🙂 I research the community and find the data should be interpreted in the following way. But when I did a quick research for one keyword. The tool bar gives me a data of 22% showing in Yellow and says the keyword is competitive when I hover my mouse. Should this be **Blue **and easy to rank keyword based on the score? Which one should I believe? Sub 30 - (Blue) Low hanging fruit you can take advantage of. 30 - 35 (Green) Fairly easy with good on page and some quality anchored links. 35 - 40 - (Yellow) Will take a bit more work but still in reach may require, good on-site SEO and a solid link profile. 40 - 50 (Orange) Domain authority plays a much more pivotal role so it may take longer to rank for. 50+ (Red) All about resources. Onsite SEO needs to be totally nailed, including internal linking/ topic modelling etc. a strong & diverse link profile with good social signals and ... time. Thanks in advance. • We have over 15 accounts with Moz Pro, and I just noticed that almost every single one has a different DA when comparing the MozBar to their campaign. Any idea why this is? The DA of most of our sites seems to have dropped across the board, in some cases somewhat severely.

  • Schema markup helps Google and Bing identify what your (and your competitors') website pages are all about and as a result, helps search engines better index them. Better indexing can lead to better rankings for relevant keywords and phrases and herein lies the opportunity. In today's Daily SEO FiX, Jordan shows you how to use MozBar to analyze the schema markup of the competition and optimize your own site and pages for rich snippets. If you don't have MozBar, no worries! You may download it for free here. • Moz's Rank Tracker tool retrieves search engine rankings for pages and keywords, and stores them for easy comparison later. With it, you can analyze and track rank progress for a keyword or set of keywords that you may not want to include within a Moz Analytics campaign. In today’s Daily SEO Fix, James dives into the tool to show you how to use Rank Tracker to start keeping tabs on the ranking history of a given keyword. • I have a little problem regarding Moz bar. I had a FB and Twitter account earlier for my company. I have lost access to those accounts. Also they did'nt had my likes and followers (less than 10). My current Fb and Twitter account are active. Fb has 123 Like. And that the same account I am mentioned on my website. Still MozBar is only detecting that earlier account. Is there a way I could re-direct moz bar to my new accounts? thanks

  • Hello Mozzers! Exactly at the title suggests, I performed a crawl test on one our sites and the report says we have 107 external links on the homepage and another 34 on one of our internal category pages. On both of these pages I can only find 7 external links, anyone know why the crawl test is saying this? And if Moz is finding these external links could google be doing the same and punishing our site for the high number of external links? Any response appreciated! Richard

  • Obviously they make the tool that measures this, but is their own score inflated because of this? I know DA isn't strictly a measure of popularity, but Moz's own score seems a little _too _high compared to some other sites... 92 - Moz.com 90 - Salesforce.com 87 - Airbnb.com 84 - Priceline.com 83 - Squarespace.com Can someone shed some light on how DA is actually measured?

  • I'm sure it's explained somewhere in here but I haven't found it yet so hoping someone can help: I'm on the Pro Basic plan, which allows me 300 keywords.   How is the 300 keywords counted?  For example, if I've uploaded 100 keywords in the Keyword Difficulty tool, and am also Rank Tracking an additional 75 keywords for a client, is that 75 kw's, 100 kw's, or 175 kw's? Put another way, if I hypothetically do rank tracking for 300 keywords, does that mean I'm not able to enter additional keywords in the Keyword Difficulty tool without deleting some of the kw's from existing accounts? Thanks for the help!

  • Hi all, I'm working on an ecommerce site which has been around for almost 20 years.  Over the years it has started to suffer in Google's search results and the decision was recently made to completely overhaul the site.  We're now very happy with the website's design, and care was taken to maintain page rank via 301s, etc.  However, the site has just fallen off the bottom of Google's first search result page (for the first time in years) for our main keyword.  I signed up here in the hope of using Moz's SEO tools to help us return to our former glory, but I'm seeing some confusing results: I've run a crawl test on our site, as well as on our two biggest competitors. One thing that really stood out was that we have over 1000 "internal links" to our homepage, whereas our competitors both have around 20-30 (both of which appear at the top of the first SR page).  Since the rest of the "on-page SEO" looks OK, I suspect that this could be causing our problems, but I don't understand where this "internal links" number is coming from. Links to our competitor's homepage appear in the navigation bar on every single one of their product pages (which they have about 500 of), yet your report only claims that they have 30 links.  The only link to the homepage appears in the site's main navigation bar (which obviously appears on every product page - exactly as it does on our competitors' sites).  Additionally, almost every other page on our site apparently has 0 "internal links" and 0 page authority.  Is this a problem with Moz's crawl test tool, or is our site actually at fault? The above has been asked directly to Moz staff, but I haven't had a reply.  I'd hugely appreciate any words of wisdom from the community. Many thanks in advance. Nick

  • I'm new to Moz.  Just set up my trial campaign, and it had suggested many keywords.  Many of the phrases that were suggested do not contain prepositions. For example, instead of something like "sporting good stores in Chicago" it suggested "sporting good stores Chicago" Today, I looked at the on-page optimization suggestions, which are (of course) suggesting that I remove prepositions from my page to rank well. Well, as you know, that is unnatural to the reader.  But I suspect people are searching in higher volume, leaving the prepositions out.  I know that if I were to search for a sporting goods store in Chicago, I would probably leave out "in." What should I do?  Should I remove all the suggested keywords, and make them readable (which people are less like using in their search?)  Do I go back to all my pages and try to optimize it for a keyword that is natural, but does not include a preposition (such as Chicago sporting goods stores) or should I be doing something else?

  • Hi,
    I changed from http to https with SSL certificate and have added the following code in my htaccess: RewriteEngine On
    RewriteCond %{HTTPS} !^on$
    RewriteRule (.*) https://www.mysitesurl.com/$1 [R,L] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www.
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.%{HTTP_HOST}/$1 [R=301,L] But Moz returns a:
    Temporary Redirect
    Using HTTP header refreshes, 302, 303, or 307 redirects will cause search engine crawlers to treat the redirect as temporary and not pass any link equity to other pages. We highly recommend that you replace temporary redirects with 301 redirect And additional header checkers return a 302 also when I check http://www.mysitesurl.com/:
    HTTP/1.1 302 Found =>
    Date => Tue, 05 May 2015 09:31:18 GMT
    Server => Apache/2
    Location => https://www.mysitesurl.com/
    Content-Length => 214
    Connection => close
    Content-Type => text/html; charset=iso-8859-1 Anybody an idea why there is no 301 result? Thanks

  • Can I successfully perform on-page SEO in Shopify much like I would in a WordPress website? Reasons why I am asking: No plugin I know of like SEO-All-in-one, yoast or any plugin I know of.... URL is www.yourwebsite.shopify.com - Will my on-page efforts be fruitless with this kind of URL. Will the MOZ 'on-page grader' work properly with pages at www.yourwebsite.shopify.com or www.yourwebsite.com? Any Advice, pitfalls of performing on-page and off-page SEO in Shopify? Can you recommend an SEO plugin/APP for Shopify? Will I need a developer/coder to perform SEO in Shopify - Title and Descriptions? Best tool to find long-tail keywords? Thanks. JOE

  • our domain is showing in moz with the following error in crawl reports Crawl Error We were unable to access your homepage, which prevented us from crawling the rest of your site. It is likely that other browsers as well as search engines may encounter this problem and abort their sessions. This could be a temporary outage, but we recommend making sure your network and server are working correctly. note that the url being displayed is ww.domain.com and not www.domain.com . we do not have a 301 in place, we have switched off wildcard forwarding from the server.. its acting as the url is a subdomain that is not working.. should i just ignore it?

  • Hey guys! We just launched MozBar version 3.1.54 for Chrome.  2 exciting new features: we now have Spam Score integrated into the MozBar (for Logged In users) the MozBar icon itself will now show DA when the MozBar is off. Click the icon to toggle this state (you can also click again to turn it completely off) We also fixed a few bugs, and removed Google Authorship from the Markup tab. Those of you who already have the MozBar installed, it will automatically update. For those new to the MozBar - you can download it here - https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/mozbar/eakacpaijcpapndcfffdgphdiccmpknp?hl=en Also big shout out to all of our MozBar users, we are now at 243k Chrome Installs.  A full 110k increase from the version 3 launch in June last year. Thank you all! Love to hear your feedback below! Jon

  • I need to know what the subject line of an email alert from Fresh Web Explorer will say. Our account email is a department-wide account that doesn't get checked regularly and receives hundreds of emails a day. I need to create a forwarding filter, so any unique identifiers for that email would be helpful. Thanks in advance!

  • First off, I am incredibly excited about this tool. Secondly, I have a slew of questions, but the ones that are lingering for me are as follows. There are a few URLS that we used to control which are showing up in our list as spammy. The websites no longer exist as of roughly a week ago and I presume they still show up simply because of the last indexing.  That being said, if a website doesn't exist anymore, yet the link is showing up in our GWMT or MOZ, is it still necessary to disavow? Is that overkill? http://alcoholdrugrehablosangeles.com/ is an example of a website we used to control and I have removed. My second lingering question is if there are a handful of links that are registering as spammy, and I presume it is due to lack of content/duplicate content, and I move that content to its appropriate place on another website and 301 that domain to its new home, will the "spam score" carry over?

  • Upon running the Moz Pro site crawler, I noticed that I received quite a bit of duplicate titles along with 302 redirects (which is our site creating a temporary 302 to our "cookies not enabled" page). • The Moz bar isn't populating information for Yahoo homepage or it's verticals (i.e. homes, autos, finance, etc.), but I can get this data for other portals like AOL or MSN. I'm specifically looking for PA, mR, and DA information, but instead I get a generic "Search Profile" bar with no page/site-specific data.
    Is there a reason Open Site Explorer data isn't populating for this particular portal?

  • Hey gang - I wanted to mention a small update we've made to Fresh Web Explorer (I was the architect on this one). It enables you to filter your searches and/or your Alerts to show only those sources/domains we've observed in Google News. E.g. here's a search for GigaOm with news filtering on (180 results in the last 7 days) vs. the same search with news filtering off (1,811 results). It's mostly useful for folks who are getting overwhelmed by the quantity of mentions they see in FWE and Alerts (I was experiencing that myself with mentions for my name and Moz) and just want to filter to the most important/noteworthy stuff. It's not perfect - Google News does have some weird domains that show in there occasionally - but it's definitely a much better filter if you have a bigger brand or term/phrase you're watching. Any questions or feedback, please let us know!
