Difference between changing sitename.com and sitename.com/ info?
-
my crawl is showing duplicate content between my sitename.com and sitename.com/
i remember the beginner's guide referencing that these are separate websites - but how do you modify their title info on a wordpress.org blog, and what's the difference between getting to these two sites?
also, are there any wordpress.org plugins to mass fix meta descriptions, and not founds, retroactively?
i have all in one seo, but not sure how to apply the changes retroactively. a new crawl shows too many to fix manually (89+) missing metas, mostly due to multiple pages on categories, etc. and other time consuming, tedious generations..
any help appreciated, thanks

I would recommend that you have a closer look at Wordpress SEO plugin by Yoast
It is in my opinion currently the best SEO plugin for Wordpress available, and I've tried them all, on many sites.
With this plugin, you will be able to fix all of your issues:
a) URLs with or without "/" at the end - Go to SEO -> Permalinks -> activate "Enforce a trailing slash on all category and tag URL's"
b) You will be able to configure dynamic meta descriptions using SEO -> Titles. As they are generated dynamically, using placeholders which are replaced with actual content, you don't have to worry about updating your older posts.
If you have further questions, please feel free to ask.

Magento URL change
We have a Magento website parked at HostGator. The site is comprised of both a PC and a mobile version. We changed the URL to a new one ... We made the domain changes in the ‘core_config_data’ (phpMyAdmin) ... We flushed the cache in the ‘File Manager’ part of cPanel (regular and mobile version) Currently we can access the http://newsite.com (on a desktop) with no problem ... We can also access http://m.newsite.com BUT… only from a desktop PC. When we try http://newsite.com from a MOBILE device, it routes to: http://m.OLDsite.com (it keeps going to the old URL) Need some help please. Thanks in advance!

Should change some pages with key stuffing?
Hello, i have a website with 1 years old and when i started, when i created the pages, theses have key stuffing (20-30-40 same words in meta descriptions and text, sometimes 15, sometimes 20 and sometimes 40). Since i saw this (about 4 months), i change that, doing new pages with 5-10 same keywords. Some pages with many keywords (20-30-40) work very fine and i would not lose the position in google, but i don't want to be penalized for that. Then, my question is: Should change the old pages with key stuffing or let them? Thanks so much.

Google is changing the title
Hi! Lately i have seen that Google changed the page titles for some clients, not all... its about 30% of them. For example, the title looks likes this after the Google change: Company name: SEO and Pay per click management But in on that page it looks like this: SEO and Pay per click management - Company name Does anyone know why?

Vanity / Short URLs 301?
Hi everyone, I'm working on a website that uses a lot of short urls eg http://www.forest.com/oaktrees. A quick check reveals these are currently 302 status. My question is should these be made 301s - a lot of them are in off-page content and looking at GA attract a lot of clicks. I've not managed to see a definitive answer to this after several Google searches. All help and advice greatly appreciated. Bw Jon

Different HTML based on resolution
Is it acceptable in terms of SEO to display different HTML based on a users resolution size? I feel I'm wasting space on my site catering for all the 1024 x 768ers

Google Off/On Tags
I came across this article about telling google not to crawl a portion of a webpage, but I never hear anyone in the SEO community talk about them. http://perishablepress.com/press/2009/08/23/tell-google-to-not-index-certain-parts-of-your-page/ Does anyone use these and find them to be effective? If not, how do you suggest noindexing/canonicalizing a portion of a page to avoid duplicate content that shows up on multiple pages?
