Is twitter a waste of time to gain traffic
-
Hi i am wondering what people's thoughts are with reference to twitter. I use twitter and enjoy twitter but i have never had any traffic from twitter. I use facebook which i am not a fan of and i get a lot of traffic from it.
Just wondering if there is a knack to getting traffic from twitter or are other people finding out the same as me that twitter does nothing to generate traffic or increase your profile

I think the answer is different for each business. For SEOmoz, Twitter is our primary social channel. That's where people come to ask us questions, where we promote our posts, announce site outages, etc. Our customers use Facebook to communicate with us about 1/10 as much as they do Twitter regarding our site. I don't have the traffic stats in front of me, but I know for communicating with our customers, Twitter beats Facebook hands down.
And I know for other companies it is just the opposite. They'll have all kinds of conversations with their customers on Facebook, and nobody talks to their Twitter account. Try it out, see what works for you.

I agree with Arpeggio. Keep Facebook and signup with Google+ instead Twitter.

My sister works for a large marketing company and says twitter is a waste of time. Although as my sister she has her familial responsibilty to poo poo anything I suggest / ask. I'm pleased Facebook is going well I have yet to get onto that one.
On a tangent if FaceBook and Twitter merged you would have....Twit Book, Face Twit or maybe Twit Face
Interestingly all 3 of these are already taken for the best tld's lol

Twitter Account Locked Issue
Hi, Has anyone experienced issues unlocking Twitter accounts that has a mobile phone connected with it that is no longer valid? I have situation where an account is locked and in order to unlock this a code must be sent to the mobile number that was originally used to set this account up but the number in question is now obsolete and not in use. I've made numerous attempts to contact Twitter's customer service but they are almost non-existent and not unresponsive. Does anyone have any suggestions how I can resolve this or know a direct contact email or number for Twitter? Kind Regards

Twitter T&Cs
We're considering running a promotion to donate some cash to a charity for every new follower we gain during our user conference. Could this be considered buying followers, which could put our account at risk for closure?

How to coordinate blog, facebook and twitter.
I have a small law firm with a website including a blog, as well as accounts with Twitter and FB. I usually write a blog on the website then reference and link to that blog from twitter and FB. I also do short blogs that are basically links to other interesting articles about my field, and link to those as well. Is this helpful or correct from he perspective of SEO for the website? Is there a particular way to do this? I have much to learn so any comments are welcome. Many thanks.

Twitter inbound link not being indexed
Hello Mozzers! I was using open site explorer to investigate inbound links to our company website and also to our competitors. The main difference being is their top links are all coming from twitter - where as ours aren't. Now our twitter account is about 10months old maybe more and it's got the standard setup with a description and the URL. We've also been tweeting with a link directly to our site. Yet no luck? Am I missing something? Thanks, Dan

How do website owners gain from facebook scams like this?
I've noticed two things that are going wild on Facebook this week: http://timhortonsgiveaway.me/ and http://promoforipads.net/ In the first scenario, you supposedly just click share and they'll send you a $25 Tim Horton's gift card. (For those who don't know Tim's it is a very popular coffee shop in Canada). There's no way this is happening...they claim to have something like 5000 cards to give away. In the second one they're apparently giving away 1000 ipods. Yeah...OK. So, they're obviously scams that are just trying to get a few zillion facebook shares. But why?

Linking to a twitter account? Best to use the /#!/ or not? or no difference?
So if I am linking to someone's twitter account should I use the ajax code #! or not? http://twitter.com**/#!/**thos003 vs http://twitter.com/thos003 Bonus Question: I have also seen in the past that google splits a domain that has as a secure protocol. https://twitter.com vs http://twitter.com Does does that split link juice?

Does it make sense to have one facebook/twitter account for multiple websites?
If you have several different websites with related themes, does it make sense to just have a facebook or twitter page for the company to make managing the account more manageable?
