Getting Google To Correct Your Citation
-
Over the last few months, I have done everything other than drive out to California and bring google flowers to get them to edit the stupid zipcode for our downtown Tampa office. Does anyone have any experience getting these types of situations corrected? I'm at a total loss, and I do not know what else I can do.
Extremely frustrated...but always grateful,
Ruben

Ugh... Yeah just log into your Google acct and go to that link I sent and have them call you. They called me right away when I went that route.
-
So I called that number, pressed 5 and all it does is tell me to visit their website...
-
Awesome, I'll try both. Thanks again!

Boom! Found it. It wasn't a phone number. It's a link they sent me and on the top right corner you will see "Contact Us". Make sure you are logged in otherwise I don't think you will see the "Contact us" option.

Click that and you should be good to go! Good luck!

No problem at all!
Believe it or not, I did get through. Although, there is another way of contacting them if I recall correctly. I am digging through my call logs to find you the number. Once I find it I will shoot it over to you.
-
You actually got through with this number....that's amazing. I was on hold for so long I gave up. Alright, I'll try it again. I guess it must not be an elaborate tease just to annoy me.
Thanks Bryan!

Absolutely!
I called the number listed on the page listed below and pressed the 5 key to get technical help. I was then transferred to the appropriate department after I explained my issue.

Keep me posted on any progress you make. I just checked and it appears that our clients listing is back showing Wake Forrest again. Looks like I will be calling in again as well. But this seems to be quite a hampster wheel. Good luck!!

Thanks Bryan. Do you mind sharing with me what number you called? I've never been able to get through to Google. I did talk to someone about this, but they called me, and I foolishly neglected to write down the number...though I doubt it would have been returnable anyway. Either or, I'd really appreciate it.

Hey Ruben!
We have a client out of North Carolina with the exact same issue. The are located in Raleigh (with a Raleigh zip) but Google is pulling their city & zip as Wake Forrest (with a Wake Forrest zip which is about an hour away from their location). Not good for their customers or their business. I called and spoke with a rep over at Google and they told me we need to get this corrected with the US Post Office first. Once that was done, I was able to call them back and have them verify. Sure enough, the clients listing was updated.
Problem is, after about 3 weeks, Google reverted it back to the Wake Forrest info. UGHHHHH!!!I called again and they were puzzled as to why. They manually changed it back and all has been fine (for now). I monitor it frequently but to answer your question, I don't think they are monitoring it as closely as we would all hope.

Google Beacons - Is it working?
I hooked up our google beacon and I activated per google's instructions...but I can't tell if it is working or not. Does anyone know if there is a way to verify it is transmitting other than the confirmation page I got when I put in the validation code? Thanks! Ruben

Google My Business - two locations but same name and phone
Hello, I manage SEO for an orthopaedic practice and I'm wondering what to do about their GMB listings. They have two locations, but I'm starting to think we shouldn't have separate GMB pages for the two locations because of the advice about other GMB questions I've been reading on this forum. I read a helpful response that said you must ensure the following if you want to create separate GMB listings: Unique name Unique address (even if only a suite / office number) Unique phone number Clearly different categories on Google My Business I can only ensure one of those - unique address. The business has the same name, phone number, and categories at both addresses. What should I do about this? I would think it's important to list both addresses so that patients can be guided to the appropriate location, but is there a way to do that with just one GMB listing? Thank you, Susannah

How do you select a Google category for the SERPs?
Recently I was looking up law schools in Texas and came across a SERP listing I had never seen before. Google provided the category "law school" and narrowed it down by geographic location. I checked the code on both websites for schema and was unable to locate it. Furthermore, one GMB listing was claimed and another was not. I'm wondering why both Texas A&M School of Law and Houston College of Law showed up but University of Texas Law School did not. I have attached a screenshot of the SERP to see if anyone has seen this before or can provide any insight. Search term was "list of law schools in texas" but the same snippet showed up for "best law schools in texas." Thanks 8XHvZt4.png

Removing Unverified Listing From Google
We have an old unverified listing that has our information on it, but we can't get it off google. I told them months ago it was closed, and it is marked as closed in Google...but it still shows up. Moz Local is telling me this is an inconsistency that hurts our local rankings. I went to delete the page from our Google Business/Place, but if I did that, the warning said that I would just not have access to the page, and that the listing would still show up on google. How do I permanently get rid of those thing, so it's not longer an inconsistent listing? Ruben

Local Citations
So we are working on our citations. Now the issue is (not really an issue, but it is definitely very annoying) is that we have multiple locations. I get that you need to then have multiple listings. Where I get baffled is that I have read that you will then need to have more than 1 google + account for the different addresses. That seems like a lot of work to keep two google + accounts updated. Is this a must for SEO purposes?
