Should I redirect desktop users visiting mobile page to desktop version?
-
So I am redirecting mobile users to mobile version of the page and also have alternate attrubute set up for that:
What about the opposite case? When user from desktop computer visits mobile version of the page. Should I redirect him back to desktop version?
-
Good question - I still have the same question. I understand the 'by choice', but find that unconvincing so far. Did you come to a solution?
-
'you better answer my question' sounds like a interrogation technique
Personally if they have landed on your mobile site by choice then redirecting mobile to desktop should then be a choice the user select. The user may want to view mobile version via a desktop for low-bandwidth such as a laptop with mobile broadband.

Dean,
I have built responsive sites, I also discussed with others about how to serve responsive site content to mobiles faster.
It comes, that hidden blocks still being loaded by browser, and images in media queries still being read, so it doesn't really speed the things up....So instead of talking offtopic, you better answer my question

Responsive design isn't just a shrunk down version of your site, you can control what is displayed via css etc. Google has a good resource here regarding how to serve content in optimized formats for both desktop and smartphone users https://developers.google.com/webmasters/smartphone-sites/
-
Desktop site has too many images and javascripts for mobiles, mobile site has different size images and smaller amount of images and JS.
-
Had you thought about responsive design or is there a particular reason you require a mobile site?

URL structure change for pages without traffic: 301 redirect or not ?
Hi, I am just starting with MOZ PRO and trying to handle the high priority issues, starting with pages with 4XX Client Error. I am wondering what we should do with pages with no traffic and no external links. For instance: So time ago we change the URL structure of our blog to a flatter one, and so eg we moved a page: from: domain-name/dla-rodzicow/poradniki/poradniki-po-markach/vilac/vilac-zabawki-z-dusza to: domain-name/dla-rodzicow/poradniki/marka-vilac/vilac-zabawki-z-dusza/ Still not very flat but this is not the point. MOZ PRO shows we are having internal links to the old url. According to MOZ PRO, we don't have external links. According to Analytics we have no traffic on the old page. So now we changed the internal link, and I am wondering whether we should 301 redirect the old page to the new one, or whether a sitemap update is enough for this kind of pages ? Thanks in advance for your help.

301 Redirect non existant pages
Hi I have 100's of URL's appearing in Search Console for example: ?p=1_1 These go to on to 5_200 etc.. I have tried to do htaccess and the mod rewrite is on as I can redirect directories to the root i.e RewriteRule ^web_example(.*)$ /$1 [R=301,N,L] However I have tried all kinds of variations to redirect ?p= and either it doesn't work at all or it crashes the website. Can anyone point me in the right direction to fix this.

Is it good to redirect million of pages on a single page?
My site has 10 lakh approx. genuine urls. But due to some unidentified bugs site has created irrelevant urls 10 million approx. Since we don’t know the origin of these non-relevant links, we want to redirect or remove all these urls. Please suggest is it good to redirect such a high number urls to home page or to throw 404 for these pages. Or any other suggestions to solve this issue.

Page not cached
Hi there, we uploaded a page but unfortunately didn't realise it had noindex, nofollow in the meta tags. Google had cached it then decached it (i guess thats possible) it seems? now it will not cache even though the correct meta tags have been put in and we have sent links to it internally and externally. Anyone know why this page isn't being cached, the internal link to it is on the homepage and that gets cached almost every day. I even submitted it to webmaster tools to index.

NoIndex user generated pages?
Hi, I have a site, downorisitjustme (dot) com It has over 30,000 pages in google which have been generated by people searching to check if a specific site is working or not and then possibly adding a link to a msg board to the deeplink of the results page or something which is why the pages have been picked up. Am I best to noindex the res.php page where all the auto generated content is showing up and just have the main static pages as the only ones available to be indexed?

Page Over-optimized?
I read over this post on the blog tonight: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/lessons-learned-by-an-over-optimizer-14730 & it's got me concerned that I might be having a similar issue on our site? Back in March & April of last year, we ranked fairly well for a number of long tail keywords, here is one in particular 'Mio Drink' for this page: http://www.discountqueens.com/free-mio-drink-from-kraft-facebook-offer The page is still indexed, but appears back on page #3 for the search term. During this time we had made a number of different updates to our site & I can't seem to put an exact finger on what might have caused the problem? Can anyone see any issues that might have caused this to drop? Thanks, BJ

Backlinks to home page vs internal page
Hello, What is the point of getting a large amount of backlinks to internal pages of an ecommerce site? Although it would be great to make your articles (for example) strong, isn't it more important to build up the strength of the home page. All of My SEO has had a long term goal of strengthening the home page, with just enough backlinks to internal pages to have balance, which is happening naturally. The home page of our main site is what comes up on tons of our keyword searches since it is so strong. Please let me know why so much effort is put into getting backlinks to internal pages. Thank you,
