Homepage De-Indexed - No Errors, No Warnings
-
Hi,
I am currently working on this project. Sometime between March 7th & 8th homepage was de-indexed. The rest of the pages are there. Found it out through decreased traffic on GA. No notifications of any kind of penalty/errors recieved. Tried to manually re-index through "Fetch as Google" in WMT to no avail. Site is redirected to https.
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

Hi Brendan,
That was really close I tried that one but did not work. I spotted the problem in "Custom Post Type Archives" in "Post Types" tab in SEO by Yoast plugin. I unticked that option and everything seems fine now. Thank you so much for your help.
Cheers

Hi there,
I strongly suspect this is an issue with the way your theme is configured. Yoast is a fantastic plugin but it's not very forgiving with poorly configured themes. This is what I think is happening - within SEO > Titles and Metas, you probably have the 'Noindex subpages of archives' option ticked. Try unticking this option, save the changes, refresh your homepage, look at your source code and my guess is that the 'noindex' attribute will be gone.
Could you let us know how you get on?
-
You're right about the source code. But everything seems fine in Yoast. The robots file does not block anything as well. I think that there might be some incompatibility issue between the old WP v.2.8.5 and Yoast v.1.7.1.
I will try to update both to the latest releases and see what will happen.

By looking at the source code of your homepage:
<title>Star Lighters: Personalised Refillable Cigarette Petrol Lighter</title>
In the robots line it says "noindex". That's your problem. My guess is that someone has clicked the wrong thing in the Yoast options for that page, because other pages on your site are not set to noindex.

Hi there. Thank you for your reply. I have checked all these before asking the question. Everything is in place as it should be. How did you find out that the homepage is set to "noindex"?
-
Hi Tafser. Thank you for your prompt response. I know that my homepage is currently not indexed. It was de-indexed a few days ago. This is what I am trying to figure out. Why that happened and how to get it re-indexed. I really can't get it.
Why do I have to increase my social signal & update some content or submit reviews? My homepage was prpoperly indexed and for some reason was de-indexed without any obvious reason. No on or off-page actions has taken place the last few weeks.

Your homepage is set to "noindex", which means that Google will not crawl it. You need to allow search engines to index it. As you're using Wordpress you should first check Settings > Reading, then see if the box next to search engine visibility is ticked. It should NOT be ticked. If that's OK, check your home page in the admin panel. Look for the Wordpress SEO by Yoast section, and click the Advanced panel. Make sure the Meta Robots Index is set to "Index". Hopefully that should sort your problem.

I checked,Your home page is not index. Do it manually index. Only 60 product page indexed in google. Increase your social signal & update some content. I think, it will recover. Beside, You can submit in some review sites. Which site will help you for quick indexing.

GMB Bulk Upload Error
Hello! I am continuing to have issues with the bulk upload option.Currently, there are 12 non-verified locations in a location group in my GMB account. I have approximately 6-8 more that need to be added to this group via bulk upload. When uploading the spreadsheet, I receive an error reading "You've exceeded the limit for the about of locations you can upload to Google My Business in a single day. Try again later." It seems to happen specifically to the locations that aren't in my GMB account already. The others, the ones already in the account, are fine and simply read "No updates" when the bulk upload sheet is read. Everything else is marked as an error. Why is it marking some listings as nonviable when they come in via the bulk verification spreadsheet, which has been downloaded directly from the links Google has provided, and filled in with the help of the sample and amenities list? How do we finish uploading all of the remaining locations?I have another group, separate group (same company, groups split into US and International) under my name that may also need a bulk upload - what can I do to avoid this error in the future? Can they still be bulk uploaded to my account after I upload the first location group's listings? If you could provide any guidance, I'd be very grateful. Thanks in advance!

Sitemap error in Webmaster tools - 409 error (conflict)
Hey guys, I'm getting this weird error when I submit my sitemap to Google. It says I'm getting a 409 error in my post-sitemap.xml file (https://cleargear.com/post-sitemap.xml). But when I check it, it looks totally fine. I am using YoastSEO to generate the sitemap.xml file. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a big deal? If so, Does anyone know how to fix? Thanks EwTswL4

Google Indexing - what did I missed??
Hello, all SEOers~ I just renewed my web site about 3 weeks ago, and in order to preserve SEO values as much as possible, I did 301 redirect, XML Sitemap and so on for minimize the possible data losses. But the problem is that about week later from site renewal, my team some how made mistake and removed all 301 redirects. So now my old site URLs are all gone from Google Indexing and my new site is not getting any index from Google. My traffic and rankings are also gone....OMG I checked Google Webmaster Tool, but it didn't say any special message other than Google bot founds increase of 404 error which is obvious. Also I used "fetch as google bot" from webmaster tool to increase chance to index but it seems like not working much. I am re-doing 301 redirect within today, but I am not sure it means anything anymore. Any advise or opinion?? Thanks in advance~!

Removing indexed website
I had a .in TLD version of my .com website floated for about 15 days, which was a duplicate copy of .com website. I did not wish to use the .in further for SEO duplication reasons and had let the .in domain expire on 26th April. But still now when I search from my website the .in version also shows up in results and even in google webmaster it shows the the website with maximum (190) number of links to my .com website. I am sure this is hurting the ranking of my .com website. How can the .in website be removed from googles indexing and search results. Given that is has expired also. thanks

Nginx 403 and 503 errors
I have a client with a website that is hosted on a shared webserver running on an Nginx server. When I started working on the website a few months ago I found the server was throwing 100s of 403s and 503s and at one point googlebot couldn't access robots.txt. Needless to say this didn't help rankings! Now the web hosting company has partially resolved the errors by switching to a new server and I'm now just seeing intermittent spikes in Webmaster Tools of 30 to 70 403 ad 503 errors. My questions: Am I right in saying there should (pretty much) be no such errors (for pages that we make public and crawlable). Having already asked the web hosting company to look in to this. Any advice on specifically what I should be asking them to look at on the server? If this doesn't work out, does anyone having a recommendation for a reliable web hosting company in the U.S. for a lead generation website with over 20,000 pages and currently 500 to 1000 visits per day? Thanks for the help Mozzers 🙂
