-
Hello ,
I am in a fix right now. I have a website which is ranking well for many keywords in search engines.I am redirecting all my pages and blogs to new website with new domain name for better user experience and will be adding more content to new website. If i redirect all pages and posts from present website to new website will it affect my present rankings. What can be the possible effects that my present website will have. I need to fix this as soon as possible. I want to redirect so please tell me what best should be done as well.

First of all, a quick question: How is a new domain going to influence user experience? Couldn't you redesign the website and keep the current domain?
Domain's build up a track record with search engines, historical data is factored in. So yes, you will see a significant impact to your organic traffic. Anytime there is a brand new domain in the picture, you're essentially starting at ground zero. 301 redirects will pass traffic and authority eventually, and as per Gary Ilyes do not lose PageRank anymore. BUT, that doesn't mean you should add a bunch of redirects without a really good reason.
I strongly recommend you reconsider switching domain names and simply redesign the domain you've already got.

Hi Wallace, You should not be so concerned about going ahead with the 301 redirects. While you will see a temporary drop in traffic, your new website will be indexed quickly and should take over your search rankings.
Google webmaster trends analyst Gary Illyes recently confirmed that 301 redirects will not cause a loss in PageRank or page authority. The backlinks you have acquired for your old domain name will still benefit your new domain name if the proper 301 redirects are kept in place.
There may be other issues that could affect your rankings such as switching to a new web design or changing your title tags. If you keep everything consistent I believe you should not have any major loss in Google rankings. Best of luck.

Hi There,
I can understand, such situation can be confusing at times.
You can understand all the details about 301 redirects on this post and further comments in the discussion. https://moz.com/blog/301-redirection-rules-for-seo

Website is not indexed in Google
Hi Guys, I have a problem with a website from a customer. His website is not indexed in Google (except for the homepage). I could not find anything that can possibly be the cause. I already checked the robots.txt, sitemap, and plugins on the website. In the HTML code i also couldn't find anything which makes indexing harder than usual. This is the website i am talking about: http://www.xxxx.nl/ (Dutch) The only thing that i am guessing now is the Google sandbox, but even that is quite unlikely. I hope you guys discover something i could not find! Thanks in advance 🙂

Google Sitelinks
Hello, Good afternoon. I am having a site issue with Sitelinks. For some reason when I search Google for the brand I represent "California Olive Ranch" Sitelinks are not being generated. When I search for "Cal Olive Ranch" our site links are being generated. Our domain is Californiaoliveranch.com. Is there a way to tell Google to to change the site links to match our domain and brand name? Is this something that can be done in Google Webmasters? Thank you very much for your help. Adam P

Will Moving to a Different Country Hosting Affect my SEO?
Hello Mozzers, I have a website with the country specific TLD. It's very new (less than a month old) and already started ranking for the main target term (It's #5 as I write this). It's a somewhat exact match domain. Right now I am on shared hosting and the way in which the site is growing, I think I might need to move to a VPS soon. Right now, I pay extra and chose a shared hosting in my own country. But VPS in my country is very costly. I'd get twice the features if I go with a US hosting provider for the same price. If I move to a new VPS outside of my country, would it affect my rankings? What do you think? Thanks.

Rank tracker and Rankings report differs
Hi all Is this normal? I have set up a campaign for a site. Tracking a variety of keywords. For one of them, which is a quite important keyword I've been working on I've moved down one step in my rankings report. This is first of all weird because my on page optimization went from grade c to a, and even weirder beacuse if I run Rank Tracker tool on the keyword and the URL I see that I've moved up 6 steps, to 15 in Google. Kinda makes it hard to grasp if I'm on the right path or not! (I've checked and they are both results on google.dk, same URL and same keyword - exact)

Rankings Issues
website: trophycentral.com Back in February of this year, we took a huge rankings hit on Google. We thought it might be Panda related, but realized it was before the big change. We also thought it could be related to our Mobile rollout and a wholesale system we put in place, but were not sure. Most pages were fine, but our home page was hit hard and taken off line, included for branded terms (although the branded terms came back in a couple of weeks). There were no manual actions against us. We made a ton of changes with the mobile site, crawl issues, reducing links, reviewing and removing potentially bad outside links, etc. After a few months (long time!) almost all of our keywords came back except one, trophies. We used to rank in the top few positions and now are not in the top 500. We believe we are being penalized, but have no idea why this one keyword is being impacted. It is obviously a huge one for us and we want to get it back. Does anyone have any ideas as to why Trophies is not ranking on our home page. We are grateful that we have many other words and phrases in the top 5 positions (not pages) of google, yahoo and bing, but on Google, we cant seem to get trophies to even show up! Please help!!! Thanks!!!

Difference between URL Rewrites and 301 Redirects for Rankings
What is the difference between URL rewriting and 301 redirects? Specifically if my home page is rewriting the www. version and the /index.html version rather than 301 redirecting them is this equivalent? Does it still pass the link juice on those alternate variations the same way a 301 redirect will?
