Is my H1 and H2 site structure proper?
-
If I have an h1 tag on the page that describes the purpose of the page, is it a bad idea to make all of the sub-headings h2 tags? A designer mentioned that it was frowned upon to make all of the secondary headings into h2 tags, or to use CSS to selectively style the heading tags.
-
disnmiss what he said, its if it makes senmce, this rule only applies to H1, and even that is in doubt.

Hello Alexander,
The H2s in this situation look justified and seem to carry the same weight, personally I always ask our guys to style these H2s due to the size in which they render on our Joomla builds (before this they were using H3s for size, yikes) . My suggestion is " don't worry too much about it." There is a consensus in the community that the header tags have less and less weight for SEO . They are particularly useful though in organizing content which is applicable in this situation and Search engines love good clean markup.

Hi
That seems like it should work just fine to me. Just follow these guidelines.
- does it appear useful to the viewer, does it make it easier to consume the content?
- or does it appear unnatural and spammy?
- also, I am not a fan of blanket rules like "don't ever use multiple h2 tags under your h1" (unless they are clearly stated in Google's quality guidelines or somewhere like that). You have to look at every situation for what it is, and as long as you are not trying to be manipulative and it makes sense as determined by the content than do it!
- As far as I am aware, the only header tag that is recommended to not repeat on a page is the H1.

Multiple H1 tags on Squarespace blog page?
Hi All, I use Squarespace and while running my site (https://www.growmassagebusiness.com) through programs am seeing that my blog posts are being seen as one page with multiple H1 tags. I read through the SS help desk and found back in 2015 someone wrote that it's not a bit deal b/c of HTML5 and that the search engines will read each blog post as a sub-page. I'm not so sure about that and wondering what the experts think? If that is screwy then I'm considering possibly making each blog post it's own page rather than using their blog posting format.

Site Cleanup Operation
Hi, I hope you can help, I have been asked to look at a friends site that is simply shocking, but somehow ranks for its main target keywords, mainly because they are easy. But going through the site he has like 350 links on his menus that are all follow so I need to change them to nofollow, but should anything else normally be marked such as no index etc on a menu link. Also upon doing a Moz scan there are something like 250 missing meta descriptions from old blog posts. When I looked closer they had been using the blog section for posting relevant news headlines, but thats it, So he has 250 useless, low quality blog posts. My question is, what should I really do with them, ie delete, redirect, canonical etc. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks Paul

Using display: none in h1 tag
Hello, For the h1 tag on my landing page, I currently have 'Welcome to Edison Ford'. I was thinking of adding the keyword I'm targeting (property maintenance bristol) to the h1 tag which would look like this 'Welcome to Edison Ford Property Maintenance Bristol' Would it be a good idea to wrap the property maintenance bristol part in a span tag and add 'display: none;' to the styling? Thanks in advance.
