Pass Page LinkJuice? Or Pass Keyword LinkJuice?
-
I have a popular page that is not one of the three pages that I am hoping to raise awareness of (want to focus on). The dilemma I am trying to understand is that I really don't want to encourage all the flow from the popular to ONE of my hopeful pages (focus pages).
Rather, I want to focus the keyword portions of that page to help the three hopeful pages. So I consider the rel=canonical tag.... err no. rel=canonical would pass ALL my popular page link juice to ONE of my three hopeful pages.
What's the best way to pass the keyword link juice relevant to each of my three hopeful pages their, um, portion, of the popular page link juice.
I'm white hat by preference. All four pages are good legitimate landing pages, and of course I dread sabotaging the popularity of what is working.
Suggestions? Advice?

If I am understanding your question correctly, you have a page on your website which has gained popularity. You would prefer three other related pages to benefit from this popularity. You did not share your URL so I will make up an example:
Popular page: apples
Other three pages: apple juice, apple sauce, apple butter
On your /apples page, whenever you first mention "apple juice" in content, use the phrase as anchor text pointing to the /apple-juice page of your site. Repeat the process for "apple sauce" and "apple butter".
This process will provide you with three relevant links in content which also capture the perfect anchor text for your page. It's the best type of links possible. The only thing you can do to further improve the value of these links is to ensure they are as early in the article as possible.
A secondary approach which is not as effective would be to offer a sidebar block titled "Relevant Articles" or something along that lines, and then offer links to the other 3 pages in that block.

Sometimes asking a question publicly exposes those "oh! duh..." epiphanies.
Of course, adding content to my popular page that keyword-anchor-text-links over to a hopeful page... and do that for all three of my hopeful pages... will accomplish my goal. Still, I invite argument. Are there better ways?
Recommend an SEOmoz webinar or article that addresses this the best? (sniff... I LOVE SEOmoz webinars!)

Agreed. That is how I use it.
In my case, the page that became popular has good content specific to another page I have that I call a hopeful success. If only my hopeful success page had gained the popularity for that portion of why folks love my popular page.
Multiply that point time 3 hopeful pages.

You should place canonical link when two pages contents are identical or have a very little difference. If this is the case, so your popular page's text taht you not prefer is very close to the text you prefer you can place the canonical link. If You have a totally different content I think you should just place some links pointingg to your preferred page.

Remove geographic modifiers from keyword list
I just pulled a search term report for all of 2013 from my PPC account. What I got was 673,000 rows of terms that have garnered at least 1 impression in 2013. This is exactly what I was looking for. My issue is that the vast majority of terms are geo-modified to include the city, the city and state or the zip code. I am trying to remove the geographic information to get to a list of root words people are interested in based on their search query patterns. Does anyone know how to remove all city, state and zip codes quickly without having to do a find and replace for each geo-modifier in excel? for example, if i could get a list of all city and state combinations in the US and a list of all zip codes, and put that list on a separate tab and then have a macro find and remove from the original tab any instances of anything from the second tab, that would probably do the trick. Then I could remove duplicates and have my list of root words.

Problem with On-page
I have an issue. I have added 5 keywords but when i go to the "on page" tab. They are not there... So i press on "Add keyword" and it takes me to another page where i can see all my keywords. So i go back to the "on page" and no keyword shows up. I wanna have a summary of the weekly crawl for the on page of these keywords and it's not showing up 😞 Anybody knows why?

Functionality of SEOmoz crawl page reports
I am trying to find a way to ask SEOmoz staff to answer this question because I think it is a functionality question so I checked SEOmoz pro resources. I also have had no responses in the Forum too it either. So here it is again. Thanks much for your consideration! Is it possible to configure the SEOMoz Rogerbot error-finding bot (that make the crawl diagnostic reports) to obey the instructions in the individual page headers and http://client.com/robots.txt file? For example, there is a page at http://truthbook.com/quotes/index.cfm month=5&day=14&year=2007 that has – in the header -

<meta name="robots" content="noindex"> </meta name="robots" content="noindex"> This page is themed Quote of the Day page and is duplicated twice intentionally at http://truthbook.com/quotes/index.cfm?month=5&day=14&year=2004 and also at http://truthbook.com/quotes/index.cfm?month=5&day=14&year=2010 but they all have <meta name="robots" content="noindex"> in them. So Google should not see them as duplicates right. Google does not in Webmaster Tools.</meta name="robots" content="noindex"> So it should not be counted 3 times? But it seems to be? How do we gen a report of the actual pages shown in the report as dups so we can check? We do not believe Google sees it as a duplicate page but Roger appears too. Similarly, one can use http://truthbook.com/contemplative_prayer/ , here also the http://truthbook.com/robots.txt tells Google to stay clear. Yet we are showing thousands of dup. page content errors when Google Webmaster tools as shown only a few hundred configured as described. Anyone? Jim0 -
How Do I deal with duplicate page titles for pages on eCommerce site
Hi We have an ecommerce site selling physical products. There are a few areas where the products run into two pages. I have used canonical meta tags and next and prev meta tags too. Despite this SEOMOZ reports are still displaying these as warnings for duplicate page titles. An example would be /brand_name/range/ <link rel="next" href="/brand_name/range/?page=2" /> <link rel="<a class="attribute-value">canonical</a>" href="/band_name/range/"/> /brand_name/range/?page=2 <link rel="<a class="attribute-value">prev</a>" href="/brand_name/range/" /> <link rel="<a class="attribute-value">canonical</a>" href="/band_name/range/?page=2"/> Should I be doing something different?

Why did SEOMoz only crawl 1 page?
I have multiple campaigns and on a few of them SEOMoz has only crawled one page. I think this may have to do with how I set up the campaign. How do I get SEOMoz to crawl more than one page on these campaigns.

Avoid Keyword Self-Cannibalization
I'm still having issues with this self-cannibalization...it's referencing my tags as links that are doing this... should i remove the tags on my posts that are exact keyword matches to my article? for example, this post generates an 'a' through the on-page optimization tool for the keyword 'kw cares'...they only thing i receive a warning on is the self-cannibalization. http://www.youdrivethesuccess.com/tag/kw-cares/ Cannibalizing link - "kw cares" is it best practice not to have your tags match your primary keywords? any guidance is appreciated!

Still Getting Keyword Self-Cannibalization
I used the onsite optimization and made some changes to my post, but am still getting the Self-Cannibalization mention in my results. It lists this: "Real Estate Careers | Keller Williams | Career In Real Estate" as the link that is not supposed to be there. This is not a link, but the title of the post. What am I missing?
