Am I Doing This Wrong? Ecommerce SEO
-
I ran my site through the SEOMoz On-Page Optimization tool and one of the problems noted was "Keyword Self-Cannibalization" in this case, it was stating I was using the keyword "Board Games" too much.
Site in question:
The problem being is that every product link contains the word "Board Game" - Which makes sense, but I guess it may look spammy to the SEO world.
Would it be best to remove the "board game" part from each internal link and only leave it in the URL structure?

Rhys,
In looking just at the home page, and looking at the Site Grader results, I would say wrong is not really the best choice. You are doing it less than best for that term. Remember first that it cannot be looked at in a vacuum. I have sites that have pages that grade out less than perfect: eg. a title tag that is purposefully too long, etc. You are better served to ask yourself who your customer is and what are they looking for and then construct the page to deliver that and modify your on page around that.
Another thing I would suggest is that you check keyword queries (kw analysis) around your products. Having board game essentially on every page over and over will not help you. But, If you segment it, there may be gold in there and it may prevent the site from looking too spammy. An example I found when querying for about 5 gamer type keywords was this: local UK broad local UK exact
Board games 301,000 18,100
Family games 74,000 1,900
Family board games 2,900 500
To me, I believe you should have a page on with family games as the key word (You actually have that as a category but then the title tag is Family Board Games). You should have a meta description that speaks to: Looking for fun games for the family...the board gamers has .... In making sure you tell them it is a board game site, you let them know in case they were looking for something different.
Talk about family games on that page and make sure you do things like a correct H1, etc.
Then, make sure you submit your site to Bing and Yahoo as you are showing only one page in Bing and none in Yahoo.
So, stop focusing on one key word. For the home page, I do not think you have gone totally overboard (Do take out the key words tag), and if you make the categories be that and find out what people query you will help yourself.
One last thing, on one of the pages you say you are now the largest after starting out in Feb. You did not show up on page one, so you may want to modify that statement.Good Luck.

Webjaguar SEO shortcomings
Hey All. I have a client whose ecommerce site is build in Webjaguar. Does anyone have experience with this platform. It appears to be loaded with technical SEO challenges (duplicate content, weird URLs, etc). Interestingly, when I Google "webjaguar SEO challenges" and things like that....nothing comes up. Suspicious, methinks. I appreciate any thoughts from SEO folks. Thanks!

What do you think about SEO of big sites ?
Hi, I was doing some research of new huge sites for example carstory.com that have over million pages and i notice that many new sites have strong growing for number of keywords and then at some point everything start going down (Image of traffic drop attached) there are no major updates at this time but you can clearly see even on recent kewyords changes that this site start loosing keywords every day , so number of new keywords are much less that lost keywords. How would you explain it ? Is that at some point when site have more than X number of indexed pages then power of domain is not enough to keep all of them at the top and those keywords start dropping ? Please share you opinion and if you have any experience by yourself with huge sites. Thank You very appreciated 2LC3AxE

SEO - is it site or page
Hi When we're talking about SEO does the search engine only look at the whole site in general or do they look at the individual page when we're talking about SERP? So if you have a keyword "my search term" Does the search engine look at the site first or the page with the term on then rank you or is it the page then the site.

Advanced SEO - What would you do after you run out of keywords?
Hello! Our company has been growing in terms of traffic and ranking well for a couple of years but we are now kind of stagnating because we just don't know what to do next. We have a good blog - and with our blogs, we have been targeting all major keywords with their related keywords as a bucket. - "keyword theme / page" for a long time. But it seems we now don't have any major keyword theme to write about. What is worse is that we don't see any traffic growth since 2014 September. (although we added many good blogs) So what would do you when you run out of keywords? or keyword themes? Would you just keep pumping in more blogs and hope that you get more clicks? or at some point, you just don't care about keywords and write whatever relevant to your site? Wouldn't it hurt our site if we create similar keyword themed pages? (like regurgitating our keywords?) or even same keyword targeting pages? You must have similar experience if you are an owner of a niche site. Can you please share your experience with this kind of headaches? Thank you and look forward to your comments.

Recommendation for Small Business SEO
I'm trying to find a company that can provide SEO services for our small business. We have a limited budget, $500 a month or less. We have staff that can do much of the work in terms of correcting content issues, changing content, etc. However, I'm not an SEO expert and we need someone to help us by understanding where we are now and providing ongoing guidance on what we should be doing to improve and also in helping with execution where possible and/or necessary. Can anyone recommend a company that might be able to help us with this within our budget constraints?

SEO issues with Magento
Hi Everyone, We use Magento CMS for our site and we are having a frustrating time resolving our SEO issues. The site was very poorly managed in years past and in the past year I have redesigned and cleaned up many things. However we are recently having trouble with indexing and keyword ranking. Issue #1: Our main keyword ranking has dropped quite a bit while our other less important keywords have steadily risen. I suspect a very strict robots.txt implemented back in early January may have been the culprit. We have since been modifying it with out much luck. Many of our pages are still blocked. 12/05/12 : ranked 12th 1/09/13: ranked 19th 1/16/13: ranked 35th Now: out of top 50 (52nd) Issue #2: Not a single image is being indexed. We are 0 for 582 according to Webmaster tools. Not sure why... Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated as I have great determination and interest in learning the correct way to fix/do this. Site: www.scojo.com Thanks
