Time until duplicate penalty is lifted?
-
Hello,
I recently discovered that half of the pages on my site, about 3,500 were not being indexed or were indexing very very slow and with a heavy weight on them. I discovered the problem in the "HTML Suggestions" within Google's Webmaster Tools.
An example of my main issue. All 3 of these URL were showing 200 Status OK in Google.
www.getrightmusic.com/mixtape/post/ludacris_1_21_gigawatts_back_to_the_first_time
www.getrightmusic.com/mixtape/post/ludacris_1_21_gigawatts_back_to_the_first_time/
www.getrightmusic.com/mixtape/ludacris_1_21_gigawatts_back_to_the_first_time
I added some code to the .htaccess in order to remove the trailing slashes across the board.
I also properly set up my 404 redirects, which were not properly set up by my developer (when the site "relaunched" 6 months ago )
I then added the Canonical link rel tags on the site posts/entries.
I'm hoping I followed all the correct steps in fixing the issue and now, I guess, I just have to wait until the penalty gets lifted? I'm also not %100 certain that I have been penalized. I'm just assuming based on the SERP ceiling I feel and the super slow or lack of indexing my content.
Any insight, help or comments would be super helpful.
Thank you.
Jesse

I recently raised a resubmission request with Google webmaster tools and they said it would take 2 weeks but someone would get back to us with a personal reply.
so best going through a webmaster account to be honest to check.

641 Crawl Errors In My Moz Report - 190 are high priority Duplicate Content
Hi everyone, There are high and medium level errors. I was surprised to see any especially since Google Analytics shows no errors whatsoever.190 errors - duplicate content.A lot of images are showing in the Moz Crawl Report as errors, and when I click on one of these links in the report, it directs to the image which displays on a blog post on the site unusually since I haven't started blogging yet.. So it looks like all those errors are because the images are appearing on their own post.So for example a picture of a mountain would be referred to with www.domain.com/mountains ; the image would be included in the content on a page but why give an image a page/post all of it's own when that was not my intention. Is there a way I can change this?# ----------------------------------------

These are things I first see at the top of the Moz Report: There are 2 similar home urls at the top of the report: http status code is 200 for both (1) and (2) Link Count for (1) is 71. Link count for (2) is 60. No client or server errors Rel Canonical Rel-Canonical Target
Yes http:// domain. co.uk/home
Yes http:// domain. co.uk/home/ Does this mean that the home page is being seen as a duplicate by Google and the search engines?http status codes on every page is 200.Your help would be appreciated.Best Regards,0 -
Why do WMT's Search Analytics & GA's Real Time Keywords Differ?
I took a screen shot of the keywords from Google Analytics Real Time Keywords for Google / Organic. Then I waited a week and filtered Google Webmaster Tools' Search Analytics for queries with those keywords. None of them showed up. Why not? What I missing? Why do some keywords show up in Google Analytics RT for Google / Organic while most others are in Not Provided? I see WMT's Search Analytics says that it doesn't always show queries that "are made a very small number of times or those that contain personal or sensitive information." But most of my queries are like that. Anybody know any patterns / criteria that leads WMT to show some but not others? Thanks

Confirmation page gets hit multiple times by some users. How I can I segment out unique visits?
Hi All, I'm web marketing manager at http://www.evenues.com which is like an AirBnB for meeting space. When calculating the number of bookings for our meeting spaces, I've set up a goal in analytics with the confirmation page as the goal URL. The problem is, it seems that some users are looking at the same confirmation page several times. We have unique URLs for each confirmation page, but some users seem to be visiting these unique pages more than 2 to 5 times. This skews our numbers a bit. This makes things a bit problematic when it comes to segmenting visitors. is there anything we can so that each unique URL visited only counts once? Thanks, Kenji

Gah, unfairly hit by massive google penalty :/
Hi Guys, We're the folk behind http://wpmu.org and have just been hit by a massive fall in google referrals, see attached 😕 There's no reason in webmaster tools for this, were not engaging in any spammy or dodgy practices and are a massively established and well staffed news *& tutorial site for WordPress (one of the biggest, in fact!) We've upgraded WP, and requested a referral, but without actually knowing what's going on it's extremely hard to figure out what to do 😕 Maybe we're a wrong hit regarding this: http://www.webmonkey.com/2012/04/googles-new-search-algorithm-to-crack-down-on-black-hat-webspam/ ? At the moment pretty much the only thing I can think of is one of our authors being dodgy, but I don't think they would be, and I don't know how to go about finding out. Anyway, if you guys could take a look and let us know anything you think might be up, and share any advice that'd be super super appreciated! Cheers, James Screen-Shot-2012-04-27-at-8.39.32-AM.png

Can I find results for my SEO rankings over an extended period of time?
I was hoping to put a report together chronicling my SEO performance over the last 2 months and couldn't find a place to see prior information.
