Keep multiple Google Analytic / Webmaster accounts seperate?
-
Hi, I have a paranoid suspicion that putting all my websites on one Webmaster / Analytic account will mean any links between my sites won't carry any weight, and Google might consider similar content much more readily if 2 of my sites are in the same market. So I have about 4 different accounts with my main sites split across them.
Am I being over paranoid? Do any of you have any problem with all your sites being on the same account?

Thank you Robert! It means a lot to have such a feedback from an authority person like you are

Istvan, Well thought out. Good response.
Best to you.

Thanks for your advice. I think you're right, creating my own private network as you put it is only going to cause problems eventually. And the hassle of having to sign in and out of my accounts is getting a bit tedious.
I think I'll set about linking them all up, thanks.

Hi there,
Depending what are your intentions with these websites I would say that you have two situations:
1. Using the websites in order to gain "higher visibility" with several domains: now IF i "translate" this, then I would be saying that you are using the "mini sites" to gain link popularity... If this is the case, I would dump the idea. Still if your client is chasing this idea, then keep them separated. (Although Google does excellent job on detecting these private networks, and my belief is that one day it will punish it too)
2. Using the websites to target different zones (geo or niche subzones): Now if you create this to have several areas targeted, let it be geological (such as creating websites / country, region or city etc.) or niche related (such as having a website for eletronics, one for books and another one for IT products of one big shop) then I wouldn't be afraid to connect these within one account. These websites are not created in order to create private linking networks! These have as goal to create smaller websites for targeted "personas".
In general... IF you are creating websites in order to only optimize for Search Engines... Then don't connect them!
I know there will be several opinions regarding this issue... This is mine, I hope that helps you out in some way.
Gr.,
Istvan

Using logical operators (AND / OR) in Google Analytics Goal Funnels
When setting up a Funnel within Google Analytics, is it possible to use logical operators (e.g. OR, AND) in the first (required) step of the funnel? For example, suppose I want to track users who visit page1.html AND page2.html before proceeding to the destination goal. I've entered two pages separated by the OR operator, and neither the "Verify this Goal" nor "Save" produces an error message - is it safe to assume that this is working as I intend? Thanks in advance!

Question about setting up Google Webmaster on Network Solutions?
I'm trying to set myself up as a Webmaster on my company's site. We use Network Solutions. I am following Google's directions on how to do this. However, I am a bit wary. Here are the directions. Underlined is the part I am having trouble with: Log in to your account for howlatthemoon.com at www.networksolutions.com by clicking theManage Account icon. In the left navigation bar, open the nsWebAddress (Domains) menu by clicking the **+ **icon. Click Manage Domain Names. On the Domain Details page for the domain you're using, select the Designated DNS radio button (to the right of Change domain to point to) and click the Apply Changes button. If you've previously modified your advanced DNS settings, click Edit (to the right ofDomain currently points to). Under the Advanced DNS Manager heading, click Manage Advanced DNS Records. Under the Text (TXT Records) heading, click Add/Edit. In the Host field, enter @. Leave the TTL field set to the default value. In the Text field, copy and paste the following unique security token:

(security token removed for obvious reasons) Click Continue. Review your changes and click Save Changes. When you've done saving the TXT record, click the Verify button below on this page. There is already a host of @ (None). The text for it reads: v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com ~all I called Network Solutions and the guy I was speaking with told me to delete it and replace it with my Google Webmasters code. However, I think this is setting up our email. Do I just add the Webmasters in and have two hosts of @ (None)? Thanks!0 -
