Using microformatting for multiple online review source
-
I sat in on the Microformats & Schema.org – Real life Use Cases webcast today. Thank you for providing that helpful information.
This discussion question is related to microformat in relation to online reviews:
I work for a local auto dealership group. Each of our dozen+ dealers have reviews on Google, dealerrater, cars.com, edmunds, etc.
Is there a SEO benefit to compiling online reviews from multiple sources mentioned above into our site in a microformat (knowing the reviews existed elsewhere) or would we have to use a third party tool such as Bazaarvoice & capture our reviews through there?
Have any of you pulled reviews from various sources onto your site & used the microformatting technique? If so, what was the outcome?
Thanks

Hreflang Tags & Canonicals Being Used
We have a site on which both hreflang tags and canonicals are being used. There are multiple languages, but for this I'll explain our problem using two. There are a ton of dupe page titles coming up in GSC, and we're not sure if we have an issue or not. First, the hreflang tags are implement properly. UK page pointing there, US page pointing there. Further down the page, there are canonical tags - except the UK canonical tag points to the UK page, and the US version points to the US page. I'm not sure if this will cause an issue in terms of SEO or indexing. Has anyone experienced this before or does anything have any insight into this? Thanks much! Matt

How to avoid duplicate content with e-commerce and multiple stores?
We are currently developing an e-commerce platform that will feed multiple stores. Each store will have its own domain and URL, but all stores will offer products that come from the same centralized database. That means all products will have the same image, description and title across all stores. What would be the best practice to avoid getting stores penalized for duplicate content?

Canonicals: use when page has same listings, but displayed very differently?
Say you have a listing of movies. In that listing, there are 5 different view types. One has the scenes broken out. Another has only the box covers. Two of the views have movie descriptions, but others don't. Still, the listings themselves are the same, and you only want the default view to be indexed. Is it appropriate to use canonicals in this case? The alternative is to noindex the other views, but the site already has rankings and deep links. If Google does see the pages as unique and we apply a canonical, could we be penalized or would they merely ignore it?

Thanks!

How do you find the source of a 404
I've recently noticed quite a sharp rise in the number of 404 errors on our site. Unsurprising really as we have just had a major upgrade of our site navigation. When looking in GA at the landing page stats the vast majority of them are from Google organic search. How do I find the source of the 404? All help appreciated. Thanks. Jon

Is Video Sharing sites is still useful for SERP ?
Well I am not talking about the audience views, i am asking whether it is good for submitting videos to multiple video sites for backlinks and any sharp movements for the keywords. I seen most of the sites are nofollow which is not useful but for the link diversification is that something good ?

Ok to use rich snippets for same product on multiple pages?
I am developing a new set of pages for a series of products which exist on separate sub domains linked to the root domain. The product pages on the sub domains have rich snippets; review count, review score etc. The new pages im building out are for the same products though on the root domain and with different content. Im not comfortable marking those pages up with rich snippets too given they will have the same review counts, scores etc though would like to if its viable? Any thoughts/opinions? Thanks, Andy

How to use modrewrite to redirect certain portions of a site
Hello! My question is as follows: Suppose there is SiteA which is a blog that has a url structure of http://www.siteA.com/blog/category/article Now suppose I'd like to redirect those articles to a new domain (which has the same url structure) BUT excluding a certain category, say, 'blah/' so in other words, some examples: http://www.siteA.com/blog/shoes/best-shoes-to-buy ->redirects-> http://www.siteB.com/blog/shoes/best-shoes-to-buy/ (there is a trailing slash here for some reason) BUT http://www.siteA.com/blog/blah/foo-bar -NO REDIRECT- (because it's in the /blah/ category). Any and all feedback & help would be much appreciated 🙂 Thanks!~
