Problem with SOME Indian based SEO companies, HELP!
-
First of all I want to say that I hire 2 great Indian SEOs at my company and this question is in no way meant to offend, or single anyone out.
However
It's come to a point where the amount of emails we receive for "Ethical SEO, High PR Guaranteed Link building Services, SEO professionals etc" from Indian based companies is costing us a lot of time on a daily basis to filter out spam from real enquiries.
Blocking their emails is not even working as they use gmail accounts and multiple domain emails so we can't keep up with them.
I have even spoken to some of the owners of these 'companies' and they admit using different email accounts so as not to be blacklisted.
They also seem to believe that the opt-out option (which is legally required when sending out promotional emails) is itself optional!!!!!
Now when I asked how exactly they were getting my email they said that they get info from the, and I quote "first page of Google"!!!!!
So my question is the following; is there anyway I can block my site from showing up in a particular country altogether?
Again this is in no way attacking ALL Indian based SEO companies, my beef is with the 74 (we counted) different 'companies' that are flooding our email with offers
P.S. Is anyone else having these issues?

Google GeoIP and you should get lots of info and resources. Maxmind, countryipblock, etc.
Keep in mind, that by doing this you could also block those from India you are farming work out to.
-
That's exactly what is happening to us, is there ANY way at all to block our site from appearing in a certain country completely?
-
I think everyone gets these if you are ranking well. When i was on the first page for my terms i'd get all kinds. Even worse, they'd fill out my contact form posing as clients then in the body they'd describe some service they were offering, very annoying.

What Keeps In-House SEOs Up @ Night
We are writing a research summary piece on in-house seo strategies. We're not trying to solve the worlds problems - we simply want to know what problems you face and how you try and solve them. We've broken our research into three key areas (training, value, and measurement). We would greatly appreciate your insights, thoughts, and recommendations. We will share our final paper (with sources) when completed. Here are the questions we're asking: How do you train and support your seo team? How do you show SEO value in the wake of Google algo changes including (keyword not provided)? How can SEO show value to other parts of the organization including market research, product managers, channel managers, etc? What should you be measuring and who should reports go to? Can't seem to submit my xml sitemap to Baidu, can someone help?
Hello Mozers and SEM's, I'm sure all of you know and understand the importance of uploading your sitemap to search engines. Once search engine in particular is Baidu. For some reason, i can't find a way to submit my link www.mysite.com/sitemap.xml. For Google, Bing, and Yandex it was easy, but Baidu is giving me problems. Don't tell me to "wait until they crawl your site", i have over 1000+ pages of unique content that those other 3 search engines found because of my sitemap; Baidu can't be that slow. Their robots only found 147 pages. 😞 If you take a look at the image attachment, you can see why I'm stuck, i can't read chinese! (and it's an image, so i couldn't translate it). Has anybody had any luck submitting their .xml link into Baidu? Can someone walk me through it? Let me know! Shawn xILP69w

SEO Referral
Anyone used an SEO or SMM company that they would recommend? I know about the recommended sites on SEOMOZ, but I can't afford to pay someone $4K a month for consulting or link building. Anyone still feel safe outsourcing?

How to Educate my Company About SEO
Hey Mozzers, I'm currently faced with a situation that I believe is probably quite common in the SEO industry. I'd like to get the input of the SEOMoz community to see how others have handled this situation and how I can use that to help my company and of course myself in this process 🙂 Here's the dealio. I recently obtained a position at a fairly large company ($500 million annually) with the task of being our Lead SEO, which I am loving, but am finding one thing to be a big hurdle to our success. Essentially no one here has any pre-existing knowledge about what SEO and inbound marketing are. There are a few younger folks who understand some of it, and a few of those who I work with on a daily basis are starting to get it, but I fear that many of the folks on our webteam and even higher up do not understand the value of SEO, the implications of certain things the webteam does to our website, and moreso the value of me being here as the sole SEO expert. I'm wondering if anyone else out there has been in a similar situation and how I might be able to effectively instill a culture of SEO within my company to get people to think about SEO before they do things. My first goal is to ensure people think about SEO before making changes to our site. My second goal is for them to see the power of proper SEO, thus proving how valuable I am to the company. Thoughts anyone?
