Adding a new wp client to subdirectory - SEO?
-
Im working with couple of clients in the travel business. Im building up a network of blogs that add content, internal contextual links and so forth to clients websites. What I want to do is to install a fresh wp client to a subdirectory e.g. www.mydomain.com/blog for every and each client. This way I can get my outsourcing workers to log-in there and write content, add internal contextual backlinks etc. This also solves the problems of letting them learn on various different local CMS systems that are often just in the local language - that nobody understands:) So either I install it as an additional wp client if the clients has a wp client for the root domain.
Im wondering what effects this will have on SEO and what is important to do?. E.g. do I install a new sitemap for this new wp client in subdirectory - or do I merge it with the one for the root domain. How? In regard to GA tracking - do I add the same tracking code to the new wp install or somehow merge it into the root domain? Are there some issues I need to worry about especially when using this approach?

There must be some content build up. Im not just throwing in some blogposts of course - and im carefully monitoring and helping with re-writing etc - so it become a interesting blogpost. That is the idea. And blogpost is just a subpage as any other subpage, so instead of just having the site static (as most travel related sites are often) then we are at least writing a blog to a subpage with relevant inner linking - and then some external sites pointing to each subpage. I have at least used it on one of my sites and got it into a rank nr 1 on google for the niche at hand (with over 3000 visitors seaching per month for keyword) in some 15 days - so I dont see why this isnt working. It has kept in the 1-3 seat for 6 months now with almost no more work. So now it just want to use the same methodology on other sites as well and create some interesting blogposts that both get social attention, backlinks etc etc - I just dont know how to set this all up for it to work with sitemaps, ga etc

Because it's part of the root domain, I would keep the same GA code. I would, if possible, extend the sitemap but if you can't, I think you can submit multiple sitemaps in Webmaster tools.
The main question I have is what your goal here is. If you're looking to just have a blog with links let me just say that Google has been heavy-handed in smacking that down as a tactic. If your goal is to just have content, again I would say you're wasting your time. Blogs are designed to be things that people read, not content farms. So I would expect a site's blog to be something warm and interesting, not something you'd read in a textbook. Given that this is outsourced, I fear it is the latter.

Filling Up Content For A New News Publishing Site
Hello, SEO Gurus. I have a client whom I've been working with for a few months now, and part of our service offering is to publish and promote fresh, daily content on his site's blog. This strategy has been a huge success thus far, he is very happy with the content, etc. Now, he is getting ready to launch a second site, which will be a news publishing site for his industry niche, and we will once again be providing the content on a daily basis: we're going to be producing 10 to 15 articles a day. It's a big operation for us. The client, however, is concerned that he doesn't want the site to appear "thin" on content in the early going, and asked if it would be possible to populate the new site with the articles we wrote on the other site's blog. My gut reaction to this is that it would be an exceedingly bad idea to do this. While we are the ones who authored the original content (and we've used author tags and publishing markup), the best bet is to simply start fresh. Besides that, seeing as we'll be pumping out tons of content on a daily basis, it won't take long to fill up the content coffers. That being said, I just wanted to run this past you all and see if anyone had any alternative ideas on how to use the old content without it being duplicate content. I was thinking that maybe designating all of the old articles with noindex, nofollow could be an option? Many thanks in advance for your time and attention. Sincerely, Mike

Adding External Blog Feed
I have a client who's a member of the Loopnet.com community. They have a place on their profile to add an external blog feed. Our question is does adding the RSS feed from an external blog have any SEO value or do we run into issues with duplicate content with the same blog posts published on two different websites?

Blog SEO Strategy
The current SEO strategy for my company blog is to include a percentage of short tail keywords in each blog post, and not to link to the main site because they are concerned with diluting the blog. I would like to change the strategy and instead use the blog to promote long tail keywords by having each entry focus on around a different long tail keyword. I would also like to use the short-tail keywords for internal linking to strengthen our important pages with keyword rich anchor text (no more than 1 link per 100 words). I would love the advice of the SEOMoz community about which strategy is more effective (or if there is something else entirely we should be doing). Thanks!

What plugins & tactics are you using for Wordpress meta SEO?
Currently I use All-In-One SEO and I quite like how simple it is to setup and it's stable. Is that still one of the best ones? What are you using these days? Is it worth stripping out the superfluous meta tags that Wordpress now puts in? Is there any value to adding meta descriptions to all my Tag pages and if so, is there a good plugin that will auto magically create unique descriptions for these pages? Same goes for my paginated archives. Thanks!
