Anyone use the new "Social Settings" in Google Analytics?
-
In the past couple of months, Google rolled out a tab called "Social Settings" in the Admin area (see image). It's an optional setting, and Google is rather vague about what it does.
GA already tracks social in "Traffic Sources," so what is the advantage of using Social Settings?
If you've used these new settings, what have your experiences been? Were the settings helpful? Did they completely screw up your analytics?
Thanks,
Benjamin

"Social Settings Tab" allow you to track what people are sharing on your social sites.
You have to make sure to add also your own domain www.yourwebsite.com to avoid loosing deeper social insights.
Google Analytics tracks all referral sources by default. But if you want to track visitor behaviour from your business page on social sites it will be good idea to add those social tracking links.
This is based on our experience because unfortunately Google didn't add details as it does for the other tabs.
Hope this help!

I have yet to play with these settings but I think it is just traffic based at this point - not much other variables to track.

What are your experiences with Google+?
Hi all, It would be great to hear about your experiences with Google+. We've tried a few times to use it in the hope that it might give us a hand in SEO terms but it has been utterly painful. Not only because the UI is almost impossible to figure out, but because engagement is essentially 0. Perhaps we're doing something wrong. How has it gone for you? Ross

Google Plus Company Page Verification
Hi How do you test successful G+ company page/publisher integration/verification if using the less technical methods such as linking between the Home page and the G+ company page instead of adding code to the head section? Since i take it the google structured data testing tool cant work in these cases since no code on the head section ! Is it best to add the code anyway ? I note my clients still not achieving a knowledge graph card/section in the search results for a branded search but i have heard that doesnt come until you have at least hundreds of followers and/or G+ interactions. All Best

Requirement full bleed image share Google+?
Hi everyone, Im sort of a Google+ nutter and I wanted to figure out exactly what is required for a full bleed image to appear for +1 share on the page itself. I got it figured out and I think it requires: canonical url og:image image wider then 506px type article or page (microdata format) But sometimes it seems that pages without a canonical url still show full bleed image when shared as link when I insert the url directly into a google+ post. My question is if this could be a cached version of the page where it had a canonical url? Don't really know if that anyone is interested but I made a simple tool that checks if a page meets requirements for having a full bleed image when share as link on Google+. Think I nailed it pretty close but can't seem to get the full bleed image to appear for the tool itself do:) Please dont ask. It's driving me mad already. http://www.googlewiki.nl/seo-checker/check-fullbleed.php Try it. Take a blog post url, check it with this tool and then see for yourself if it's accurate. If not I would like to hear very much as it would help me pin point it better! Examples of pages with specific no no factors for you to try are:

I am fully implementing facebook, twitter, youtube, and pinterest. I am starting to use Google +. Is there any other social "must" for companies in order to include them on my social media profile? such as Linked In, Scribd, SlideShare. etc.. I forgot to mention we are specialized B2B Ecommerce company.

Implementing Pinterest On Site and Social Snippets
Hi can someone confirm, does Pinterest use Open Graph Protocol? If you use the Pinterest Widget builder - http://business.pinterest.com/widget-builder/#do_pin_it_button Will the image you place in the widget replace the image Pinterest selects if it does use the Open Graph Protocol? The site already uses Open Graph Protocol for Facebook and Google+. It also uses Twitter cards for twitter. It would be good if we don't need to add more html (such as from the Pinterest widget builder) for Pinterest. -- Matt

How to remove Google + logo?
I removed social plugins and installed only one Shareholic. Google+ button is left. I checked all plugins - sounds as no one supports it. Any ideas how to remove it? Thank you! http://oasisoftheseasallureoftheseas.com/#axzz289zdLaJm

How can I work out who pressed my Google +1 button?
With Facebook likes it comes up on Facebook, telling you who pressed the 'like' button. You also get the number of people that like it. Is there something like this for the +1 button? I can work it out through webmaster tools, but this is delayed data, unlike the Facebook 'likes' which is instant. Is there a way of knowing who pressed your +1 button straight away, like on Facebook?
