Freaked out over domain authority ranking drop.

Should I be freaked out that website's domain authority dropped 4 points? Is it normal for websites to fluctuate a couple of points or have I really screwed something up?

I realize there are tons of variables. I will print out competitors monthly rankings along with mine. Now that I think about it that is really the ultimate measure I should concern myself with at the moment. Thanks for response! -
Consistency is a hard thing to achieve in this world for three reasons:

individual links fluctuate (new links appear, old ones go away)

the size of the web as a whole changes (which moves the bar for link metrics like PR/mR/mT/etc)
-
Google itself changes how it measures/counts links (and our PA/DA algos try to react to these changes through the machine learning process)
Because of these, the best recommendation I can give is to compare yourself to several competitors or cohorts in your space and watch the metrics for all of these sites in comparison to your own.

Seems like only 1/2 the url's were scanned this time but that they are fresher. While happy about the freshness and the gains starting in April I am also hoping for some CONSISTENCY so I can accurately measure my hard work and efforts each month. Several of my good links were dropped off this last scan and my domain also dropped a little in rankings. I was really looking forward to a good jump this month. Now I am not sure if my domain dropped because of loss of links, because even though several are missing this month some new ones were added....or if my new URL structure caused the slight decrease.
Anyway I am in this for the long term so it is not that big a deal I guess.

A fluctuation of 4 points shouldn't be a concern at all. It could be that our machine learning algo for domain authority picked up on some new fluctuations, or that as we found new links, your overall authority dropped compared to the max. I'd recommend watching 4-5 of your key competitors and see if their numbers also dropped, stayed similar or rose. If you see your DA dropping over several indices while you competition rises or stays the same, you could infer that either the links you've acquired aren't as valuable or that you're losing ground in comparison to others.

If the change in domain authority has occurred with today's Mozscape Index update, it is most likely that the change is a result of the reduction in the number of links crawled this time around. This just means that the links are not calculated because they are not included in the crawl, but of course, they are most likely still there.
Rand has explained the difference in the latest Mozscape numbers in this post.
Something else that may impact your domain authority may be link removals as some people have undertaken in the wake of Penguin. If you haven't been actively removing links prior to June, then it is most likely just the change in index size.

Duplicate Content for Default Document Domains
I've noticed recently that within the Moz Crawl Report I keep seeing duplicate content for one of our pages that pulls from a default document. The pages are product pages, one ending in releases/ and the other ending in releases/index and are both identical pages. Normally in these situations I would prefer to make sure that every link is being sent to the releases/ page, however according to Moz, the releases/index page is actually ranking better and has a higher internal link count. Perplexed - Errors increasing, moz rank dropping, conflicting data from other sources. Please Help.
Hi there, I'm in a bit of a bind and could seriously do with some help. For the past month I've been working with a client to resolve errors onsite. In that period my moz rank has plummeted and my errors (dupe title & content) have increased dramatically. The correlation makes sense, the increase - not so much. Here's why, screaming frog is reporting that the majority of duplicate titles have been removed or dealt with. I've also got the assurance of the developer that the suggested changes are being implemented. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the CMS - umbraco - and this is the first time I'm working with this particular developer, so I'm not sure how to gauge progress without using moz tools. So, here are my immediate questions: 1. Why would I get different results from Screaming Frog and Rogerbot? 2. Has anyone here been in a similar situation and could they recommend areas to watch for errors creeping in? 3. Is there a way of identifying which errors have occurred when? Narrowing it down to the week each error occurred would be good enough. 4. Is anybody aware of any inherent SEO flaws in umbraco or common SEO mistakes made using the CMS? 5. is there anything I could provide you with to help you help me? 6. Do you have a suggestion? All My Metrics Improved from Last Month but Domain Authority Decreased
Hi SEOMoz community! My site's Domain Authority has decreased from 43 to 41 since last month. I cannot figure out why. ALL my metrics (Domain MozRank, Domain MozTrust, External Followed Links, etc. have increased. See attached image. Is Domain Authority a ranking system based on your peers? Trifecta Report (domain)
Recently i have found that the data in the trifecta report is becoming less complete. For the last few sites i found that the report returned about half of the metrics it was looking for. For instance, it mentioned that one of the domains did not have a dmoz or wikipedia link/page even though they had both? Also, it rarely returns the Yahoo Site Explorer metrics even though when clicking to see the source the data is there? Are you guys planning on phasing out this tool, if not it seems like some work needs to be done on cleaning it up. Thanks!
