New domain or flagged domain?

New client had a domain get flagged by Google and disappear from search rankings. He left is old website company and wants us to design new site using the flagged domain. Are we better off using a new domain or try to resurrect the flagged domain?

No. You have to avoid redirecting to the new domain. If you do, the bad link juice will follow you.
I know for sure that's the case with the "unnatural link warnings" that Google has been sending out. I have no evidence its the same with Penugin, but it is very likely to be so.
Some people suggest using multiple redirects with multiple hops, but I have no experience with that.

Thanks for the responses. This is the exact information that we were looking for. This is a client of ours that decided to build a different, competing website with another company. They made it up the rankings right off the bat due to link farming and then they completely dropped off Google altogether.
Most likely we are going to go with the new domain.
If we redirect the bad domain to the new one, will any bad link juice come with it? They really want to keep the domain.

What Klarke said, but also let your client consider a reconsideration request with google after the redesign.
Google can sometimes be forgiving, and I believe that if you are seen to make a genuine effort to change/clean up your site you can get back to where you were.
A lot of the time spammy links when noticed by G are simply devalued and this is what causes the drop in rankings and a lot of the time what seems like a never ending penalty can be lifted the next day.
With the addition of google bringing in the link reporting tool into WMT your client could also have a chance to wash thier hands of the spammy links.

Depends.
If it has alot of bad links, it might be better (and alot faster) to start over on a fresh domain with legitimate whitehat tactics.
If you have fewer links to clean up and alot of good links, then I'd try to resurrect.
If you have 50/50 good and bad links, my preference again is to start over on a new domain. From experience, it is MUCH easier to get GOOD links updated to point to the new domain than it is to get BAD links removed as sites which allow themselves to be spammed with easy links or sites which accept low quality content are often not actively managed or maintained.

Chrome79 shows warning on our domain "Did you mean...?" another website
On Chrome79 a large scary warning is shown to users on our site: "Did you mean this other domain? This site's domain looks similar to X domain. Attackers sometimes mimic sites by making small, hard-to-see changes to the domain." Screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/NOGEyLM Our online business is reputable, no black hat SEO practices, has been established since the early 2000s, with a relatively high DA. We don't have any warnings / manual actions in Google Search Console so I can't request a review there. I've reported it several weeks ago to Google's Incorrect Phishing Warning but the warning continues to display. I reported using: google.com/safebrowsing/report_error/ Does the Moz community have any suggestions on how to fix this or general thoughts? Thanks! NOGEyLM

Does Google crawler understand & flag a blog post has text asserting sponsorship with dofollow outbound link?
I kind of know the answer, but just wanted to get some feedback from others. For the sake of argument, assume there are no other issues with the linking blog, such as: too many ads, thin content, etc. Question: If you make a payment for a blog post with a dofollow link, and in the blog post there is something to the effect of: "this post has been sponsored by..." Will Google crawlers detect that and flag that as an unnatural link?

Different site behind the flag
Hello, I am in a very complicated situation. I have a site in Itaian which is targeted in Italy by webmaster tools so the majority of the organic traffic comes from there and everything is fine. However this site got a link from a major international site. So now I get traffic from all over the world but I can't take advantage of it. From the Italian traffic I get from this site I see high pageviews numbers and many minutes in average visitor time. The problem in this situation is that for many reasons this website cannot be translated so I can put many language choices in this site. I want to ask, If I put, let's say an English flag in top of my site, that will indicate the English language, but instead of the user to see an English version of the site he/she will be redirected(no follow link) to another site of the same content in English, will this violate any of Google's guideline or hurt the seo of the original site? New Domain Name or Keep going - Help not Recovering after Penguin
Hi Moz Friends I wonder if you can help me , a while ago we had a Penguin Penalty and lost our Rankings. After Months of work Disavow and Reconsiderations , Google sent me a message in Webmaster Tools to confirm the Penalty had been uplifted. Since then we havent recovered. I have been working with Bloggers to build relevant safe links, each having a DA of between 10-30. We have developed a Mobile Friendly Website and ios and Android Apps. We have improved Site Speed and moved to a Server within the same Country. We add lots of content and believe we have ticked all the boxes for onpage optimisation. However our DA and PA seems to have dropped slightly after Moz update today. We seem to be jumping in the serps, one day page 4 for "fancy dress" the next day nowhere to be found. I'm not sure what to do next. I'm not expecting to jump back to page 1 for the main keywords but some positive movement would be nice, especially as there are Lower DA Website, not mobile friendly or as fast above us in the serps. What I am looking for I guess is any ideas from you and also what you think about this idea A few people have mentioned that we might stand more of a chance using our domain name example.com instead of example.co.uk. example.com has never been used and is totaly clean (no penaltys ect..) Do we use example.com and move the website and content away from example.co.uk ? if so do we use redirects or would that just pass any hold thats on example.co.uk to the .com version Ideas Welcome Thanks Adam

Geo-targeted Organic Search Traffic to a sub-domain
For a client of ours, we are likely to create a sub-domain that is to be targeted at a specific country. Most of the content on this sub-domain will be from the main site, although with some specific differentiation to suit that geographic market. We intend to tell Google through Webmaster Centre that the sub-domain is targeted at a specific country. Some questions: a) Any idea how long it could take before google gives precedence to the content in this sub-domain for queries originating from that particular country? b) What is the likely impact of content duplication ? What extent of differentiation is necessary from a search engine perspective? Thanks.
