Article Marketing and Penguin

Can sites like Ezine.com and Articlebase.com still be used to create good links?
I have heard since Penguin, that article submission sites like those don't work anymore for link building.
I have a client who can't put new content on his site and will rely on link building, what is the best way to go about it??
Thanks.

His main company will only allow 4 pages on his site.
Huh? Who are these guys? They need a kick in the pants.
-
Kickass content on your own site. Content that will make people say WOW! and immediately share with their friends.

His main company will only allow 4 pages on his site. I am working with him to try and let him put a blog on the site. If they won't allow it, I will have to stick to off site marketing and link building.

Is the existing content on the site worth of links? Will it attract quality links? Depending on the quality of the content, you may have a tough time building links.
If you're able to tell a little about why the client can't put new/updated content on their site, we might be able to help brainstorm ways to convince the client that it needs to be done or compromises that can be worked out.

Syndicating content has BOTH Panda and Penguin risks if you don't know what you are doing.
-
So what would you recommend as a good link building strategy?
-
those are garbage links and treated as such by Google. best advice is tell him not to link to his homepage ever unless he feels like unwinding all those links that were created if he gets penalized.

Are there any reputable & affordable blog/article submission services nowadays?
Since the calamity of Penguin I know several article submission websites got a really bad wrap (many deservedly so). However if done carefully and legitimately I believe article promotion can still be a bona fide SEO link building tool. I currently have a client that has hundreds of good blog posts. We have done some modest article promotions via local news websites. However I feel like this content could use more of a push. Does anybody know of any reputable article/blog post promotion websites?

Tool based websites after Panda and Penguin
I have several sites that I classify as "tool" based sites. These type of sites includes anagram solvers for word games, ip address lookups and other various based tools. I like to specialize in these kind of sites because frankly I am not a blogger and hate to write. Before Panda I was doing fairly well, I had many users coming to my sites everyday. The Panda update "tips" that I read all over including on google sites seems to always refer to articles and how to deal with those. The only problem is that I am not an article based site. Yes I have content that describes my tools, but we are talking 1 to at most 2 paragraphs per page. I know Panda effected my ratings because I lost ranking with some big keywords. Since then I have been able to gain some ground, but I am having a hard time trying to figure out what exactly google wants from a site like me. The main path I am getting from Panda is concentrating on the users, and what will make their experience better. I focus on that whenever I make a change. I figure the easier I make it for them, the happier they are going to be. I am wondering what you guys think about some things I can look into creating or focusing on to enhance my site. I use social media heavily (FB, tweets, posterous, blog, RSS Feed) already, but is there something else I can look at that might help me that I am not seeing. I seem to be running out of ideas. Maybe add more content to my pages? Check link structure (its pretty basic as it is) add more article based blog posts? Just want some ideas, I will send my URL to anyone who wants to take a look and see what I may be missing. C

I'm still not convinced by Panda/Penguin...
Okay, granted, it's still early. But supposedly Panda/Penguin has "changed SEO" so spammy back links from web 2.0 sites (like Squidoo and Hub Pages) won't be worth anything, right? Why then, did I get a Google Alert yesterday (for one of the keywords I'm trying to rank for) for a Squidoo lens that has not only pushed a certain website up to top 10, but overtook my top 10 spot (pushing me back to page 2 or 3)? It's pretty frustrating (doubly so on an already poopy Monday!) to try to be all white-hat with link building, including writing good content (which I do), and yet get beat consistently by other folks who are clearly doing the grayish-hat stuff. Thoughts?

What is white hat seo for google penguin and google panda?
Hi, This is my 1st question to some experts. I need advice on link building. Are following good and white hat seo? 1: Bookmarkings on top sites 2: Top directory submission, or directories that seomoz recommended? 3: Top article directories, yahoo voices, ezine etc.. 4: Top web 2.0, wordpress, blogger, tumblr 5: Guest posts on quality blogs. I was use to with black hat methods (by mistake) , that i was not aware, Some are pure blackhat, that i never did. some time it hard to judge which are black hat. In past google like some links, now most are devalue or got penalty. Now i want to do quality seo work and slow process. any advice will be great regarding quality seo. Thanks.

What is the purpose of submitting your blog articles to directories?
I was wondering what the purpose of submitting your blog articles to directories are. Doesn't it require enough "points" or "+1's" for it to become a "do-follow" link? People on the forum talk about automating directory submission, can anyone recommend a good software for this? I've been hearing that Google Penalizes you for article submission because it looks like spam?

How do you feel about article directories?
Hello, I am a beginner in SEO and I have been reading a lot recently about article directories and article marketing. I have already started writing for article directories, ezinearticles particularly, but I still have mix feelings about it: does it really worth spending some time to write unique articles and to submit them to directories? How does Google feel about it? What do you think about small linkwheel strategies to give some weight to the content you create?
