One SERP Result, Two Different Link Destinations?

Because my vocabulary isn't up to par, it may be easier for you to skip ahead to the image I've attached.
One of my web pages shows up in the Google SERP like this. It has the blue "title" link that goes to one page (URL A), and under that, there is a green "breadcrumb" link that goes to a different page (URL B).
Any idea why this is happening and how it can be fixed?

I was only using the same example! I don't even know what green Nalgene is! (Sounds like a cleaning product to me!)
The only thing you can do is be aware of google's actions and do what you can to make the best of it!

Thanks, Doug, but I only meant that as an example (there's a green Nalgene bottle on my desk).
I guess what I was asking is whether or not breadcrumbs should show the category at hand and not just the category that precedes it. Looks to me like Google is voting yes.
Anyway, I think I'll call this question "answered." Thanks again for your help!

I'd go with making your categories/subcategories as meaningful as possible to real people.
When the breadcrumbs are displayed it can potentially provide searchers with more context (hey, these guys do all kinds of bottles!) so may be more appealing and may give the searcher more confidence...
(If the result isn't exactly what I was looking for, but your breadcrumb suggests you might have more on offer...)
In the real world I'm not sure how much impact this actually has on your average searcher...
So best practice - try and keep your categories short and meaningful and don't create more categories than you need.
I wouldn't worry about going as granular as "green!"

That makes sense. The breadcrumbs on the website do not show the current page. They only provide a link to the previous page.
For example, if the page was for "Green Nalgene Bottles" and it was a subcategory of home --> water bottles --> Nalgene, the breadcrumb would read "home > water bottles > Nalgene." It sounds like it should read "home > water bottles > Nalgene > green."
Obviously, that's confusing Google. Is it against best practices in general?

Aha! These are your breadcrumb links. Normally the URL isn't clickable, but in some cases Google will extract the breadcrumb from your page and present it under the title. (Check the breadcrumb of the ranking page and see if it matches)
They've been doing this for a while. See this article from 2009:

How to hide our duplicate pages from SERP? Best practice to increase visibility to new pages?
Hi all, We have total 4 pages about same topic and similar keywords. These pages are from our main domain and sub domains too. As the pages from sub domains are years old and been receiving visits from SERP, they stick to 1st position. But we have recently created new pages on our main domain which we are expecting to rank on 1st position. I am planning to hide the sub domain pages from SERP using "Remove URLs" for some days to increase visibility to new pages from main domain. Is this the right and best practice to proceed with? Google inaccurate results: Common or error?
Hi all, While searching for our primary keyword, I can see 2 websites on second page results which are non-related to the keyword or industry but their company name is this keyword. Like if I want to rank and searching for "SEO", there are 2 websites which called "seo trucks" and "seo paints". I wonder how Google is ranking these websites for high competition keyword with 1 million searches per month. So the keyword in URL and this keyword mentioned across the website being their brand name taking over the other potential ranking factors like backlinks, relevant content, user clicks, etc..... Looking to condense SERP reults
For several of our keywords we have two listings on page 1 of the SERP's, both pages on the same domain. It's the "top"

level category and than sub category within that top level category. Ideally, we could condense and have just the one result, at a higher position in the SERP. I thought Google would eventually do this for us as I've seen in the past, but it's been a few years now and still hasn't happened. Any suggestions?0 -
Would you "nofollow" links from a column on HuffingtonPost?
Hi all, So, I've read a lot of posts about guest posting being dead, but what about if you have a regular column on a well-regarded site? Stop? Nofollow links? We have a regular column on the Huffington Post and each piece has historically had at least one link (or more) back to our site. Yes, early on (like last year) we did use optimized anchor text in our links, and then calmed down on that a bit. But regardless, the links have always been relevant to the topic covered, and the topic is always in our niche (namely: budget travel in Europe). I saw Matt Cutts' recent video in which he recommends using the "nofollow" tag on guest posts when linking to one's own site, and specifically mentions HuffPo. Thus, I'm prepared to go back to my old posts and "nofollow" those links, but I just wanted a sanity check from the fine folks at SEOMoz. Would you go back and nofollow them? Many thanks!

Will too many [img no alt-text] links harm a link profile?
Hi everyone. I have a client who has a lot of sponsorships etc and therefore a lot of inbound image links (many of them sitewide). Unfortunately most of these don't have alt text, and [img no alt-text] links now make up over 50% of their link profile. Should I be trying to correct this and requesting updates from the people who are linking? Obviously I wouldn't want loads of keyword stuffed alt texts, but maybe I should request alt texts on the brand name or URL instead. Do you think this would make a significant difference and be worth the time it will take to contact all these webmasters? Thanks in advance.

How to show your ratings in the Google SERP
I've noticed that some organic search results are showing ratings just above the meta tag. How are these sites doing this? Example: If you search "cash advance", there is a result between #4 and #6 in the organic results. The site is "goldcashadvance.com". It's showing a 5-star rating in the result.

What do you think of Google SERP encryption?
Really interesting post by Search Engine Land about this "issue" for tracking conversion, especially for long tail keyword research. I suppose this change will be also applied on all google search pages (.ca, .fr etc.). I Really don't think Webmaster tools is a serious compensation in Analytics for this.
