I have a client with a bit over 100 inbound links but Open Site Explorer shows total links on Subdomain as over 66,000, how can this be?

I have a client www.woodard247.com that shows only a bit over 100 inbound links. using the Open Site Explorer, they are a well trafficed local site and are not doing any grey hat or black hat techniques. However the rankings for their main keywords have suffered recently and we cannot identify any duplicate content or keyword stuffing issues. We have never purchased links or used link building software. Now for the main question: When we run Open Site Explorer it shows only a bit over 100 inbound links on the page and the domain, but the subdomain shows over 66,000 total links! How can this be possible? Could this be a problem? How can I find out what these links are since Open Site Explorer and Seo Spyglass both show only a hundred or so?

Can you show u a screenshot of the 66k links? I'm seeing Total Links of 845 for the root domain, from 15 Linking Root Domains on OSE right now.

I believe that is because it is showing internal linking as well.
Edit:
What I mean here is even though the domain is a subdomain, if you link from the main domain to the subdomain it appears as another domain is linking to you.

Inbound Links/Spam Score - Disavow
Hi I have been using the Links tool in our Pro account on Moz, using the MOZ spam score/inbound links tool I can identify the linking domains and their spam rating. It shows we currently have around 4.8k linking domains and when I export the data I receive information like below. (Name - Spam Score)

Cleaning Up Bad 301 External Links From Old Site
A relatively new site I'm working on has been hit really hard by Panda, due to over optimization of 301 external links which include exact keyword phrases, from an old site. Prior to the Panda update, all of these 301 redirects worked like a charm, but now all of these 301's from the old url are killing the new site, because all the hyper-text links include exact keyword matches. A couple weeks ago, I took the old site completely down, and removed the htaccess file, removing the 301's and in effect breaking all of these bad links. Consequently, if one were to type this old url, you'd be directed to the domain registrar, and not redirected to the new site. My hope is to eliminate most of the bad links, that are mostly on spammy sites, that aren't worth linking to. My thought is these links would eventually disappear from G. My concern is that this might not work, because G won't re-index these links, because once they're indexed by G, they'll be there forever. My fear is causing me to conclude I should hedge my bets, and just disavow these sites using the disavow tool in WMT. IMO, the disavow tool is an action of last resort, because I don't want to call attention to myself, since this site doesn't have a manual penalty inflected on it. Any opinions or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Getting your site totally indexed by SEOMOZ
Hi guys! Ijust started using SEOMOZ software and wondered how it could be that my site has over 10.000 pages but in the Pro Dashboard it only indexed about 1500 of them. I've been waiting a few weeks now but the number has been stable ever since. Is there a way to get the whole site indexed by SEOMoz software? Thanks for your answers!

Hi again, Right I have wrote some notes on what I have read on here, the web and from my diagnostics. Our site is a e-commerce site for mens designer clothing. All back end editing has to be done by the web firm who host it. We can edit CMS stuff such as SEO title, descriptions, product info etc... Any help or clarification would be greatly beneficial, right lets go (sorry about the long read). <70 title characters, this is something I am going to implement on the back of some advice on here. Does it matter what order words appear in the title? Eg) Mens Blue Armani Jeans Jacket or Blue Armani Jeans Mens Jacket. Would it really matter? Is it good practice or worthwhile to use seo titles with the colour of the item at the front? I ask this as I am not sure if we would be affected by starting the first few words of each title with the brand name. eg) Blue Armani Jeans, Red Armani Jeans as opposed to Armani Jeans in Blue, Armani Jeans in Red? SEO title still, should I just include what that item is and nothing else? Or does adding something else at the end go against you? eg) Blue Armani Jeans as opposed to Blue Armani Jeans | Mens Armani Jeans UK? Am I trying too hard to get relevant words in there? Our meta descriptions are about 170-220 characters long for each item/page, is this too much? Sometimes struggle with the uniqueness of descriptions, as we can have loads of the same item, but only the colour is different. So after 5 go's, words get harder to put together. What % of a description do you think needs to be unique? Next is what comes from the crawl diagnostics Duplicate Page Titles: We are being warned because each page is showing up with a sort applied to it or pages that no longer exist. We also have filters for product types, so we show as dups for say all-clothing/armani-jeans/ has the same SEO features as shirts/armani-jeans/ and say jeans-trousers/armani-jeans/. I don't have the ability to SEO the filtered titles in the CMS. How would I fix this? Long URL: How important is the length of the URL? I make sure the URL is what the item is eg) armani-jeans-mens-jacket-6A554. The number at the end is the items style number. Should I always keep the URL as short as possible? And how far over the 115 is acceptable as for some items were only 1-10 characters over and its hard to go shorter? No. of links per page: Due to being an e-commerce site, pages such as TOPS could have over 100 products easy, not to mention the links in navigation etc... How important is this? Rel Cononical: We have 2,591 of these. What are they, how can I fix it? It is important? H1 tags: Should these be put on keyword phrases on each brands page? Should it go on the homepage only? How many H1 tags on a site/page can you have? I can't go back end code so webfirm would have to edit. Howver in CMS I can H1 product decriptions and brand descriptions, would that be useful? Keywords within the CMS, how useful are these? They are becoming a pain to do, so I don't want to do them if I dont have to. How many would be too many? Product On Page Descriptions: How long should these be? Does it matter if its a bullet list of features? Or should it just be 2-3 lines of what the item is, features etc...? Will Open Site Explorer ever show number of links over time?
OSE is an amazing tool, but do you guys at SEOmoz have any plans to develop it so we can track numbers of links over time. I need to demonstrate to clients how the link building is going, and this would be a great quick report to see how many links you found on a given day, month, year, etc. A bit like magesticSEO backlink history graph, but better 🙂
