The ultimate top 10 directory list
-
Everyone loves a good list.
If you could only submit your site to 10 directories which 10 would you choose and why?
-
SEOmoz has also recently revamped their list of directories. You might check out the post about link building via directories (with a link to the list) at http://www.seomoz.org/blog/seo-link-directory-best-practices.
-
Here's 7 "directories" (using that term pretty loosely) where you could try to get listed.
1. Dmoz
2. Yahoo! Directory
3. GetListed (for businesses)
4. NetworkedBlogs (for blogs)
5. Crunchbase (if you've got a start up)
6. Technorati (for blogs...kind of outdated)
7. Wikipedia Categories (Rand discussed this in the most recent SeoMoz seminar).
-
The question was not which directories would you submit other sites too, it was which would you submit your site too.
-
For me, there isn't a list that matches all sites.

Link from a directory
Hi, im submitting a clients website to some directories. They are a dental practice and I'm adding them to this website http://goo.gl/Tvyabd Once i added the business to its directory it asked me to add a link (in so many words) back to its website from my clients website. Is this ok to do or is it seen as spam? Im confused about this as sometimes directories are free and sometimes they ask for a fee for it to be fast tracked to put it on the website. I always check the Domain authority of the websites and make sure they are relevant to the industry that I'm working in but again not sure if this would be seen as "paying" for links. Thanks Ade

NoFollow & Directory Scraper Backlinks
I was wondering how important it was to remove/disavow: NoFollow backlinks - many ("buy viagra" etc). Directory backlinks - many questionable/generic directories. Obviously the focus is the equity passing links but both of the above constitute a significant proportion of backlinks to the site - I've seen that "scrapers" are seen as natural and obviously NoFollow do not pass link juice - but does the sheer number have a bearing and therefore make them equally important to address? Thanks in advance for your responses. Regards

How do you feel about article directories?
Hello, I am a beginner in SEO and I have been reading a lot recently about article directories and article marketing. I have already started writing for article directories, ezinearticles particularly, but I still have mix feelings about it: does it really worth spending some time to write unique articles and to submit them to directories? How does Google feel about it? What do you think about small linkwheel strategies to give some weight to the content you create?

What percentage of my links should be directory links
I feel a lot of my link building might be a bit heavy on the directory links side. Should I limit the percentage amount of links as a part of my overall link profile? If yes what percentage of links is ok to be directory links?
