Title not showing in Serps
-
Sorry if I've posted in the wrong section; in a nutshell my page title for 2x key terms (that I've noticed) is not showing in the Serps for my listing. Instead, the keyphrase I'm searching for shows up, and in one case my site name is appended.
Can anyone tell me why this is? If I take a stab in the dark, i'd plum for Gg not thinking my page title is up to scratch for the particular search term.... but that's just a punt.
Any help, greatly appreciated. Thanks.

As I suspected. They'll be modifying our content for us next! lol
-
No, my titles were unique and verbose and much better than Google's substitute!
-
That's interesting, it says it does it when:
"(1) titles are particularly short, (2) titles are shared across large parts of your site and/or (3) titles appear to be mostly a collection of keywords."
But I'm guessing none of those were the case with your sites EGOL, they must be taking it a step further now... bit cheeky.
-
Really? How long has this been going on?
I gather it's not too common place.
Thanks for the article I'll read that now.

Google puts in its own titles at times, and has been doing so for some time. This post at Search Engine Roundtable will help explain things a little, and show you that you're not alone.

Google is doing this to some of my titles. They are manufacturing a title that is "KeyWord domain.com".
I like this because it emphasizes my keyword and a domain that I am proud of... however, I wrote my title tag in a way that I thought would elicit more clicks.
-
How strange, I just posted here and it's deleted itself lol.
Anyway, yes I have seen that exact same thing happen once and only once, though the title tag was just a couple of months old, it had been indexed before with the correct one before changing itself.
It did sort itself out in the end but I have no idea what caused it. My guess is that if you leave it a week you'll see it's back to how it should be.

Probably wasn't making myself very clear; I haven't changed the page titles (in question) since the site launched - c18months ago, and my pages were showing in the Serps with the titles I'd pulled together. Then, suddenly ... well recently, my listings in the Serps now have different page titles to those on the page itself.
Any clearer?

How long ago did you change it?

Google changing my Title
I noticed today that Google is showing a different Title in searches for the homepage. It is showing a title which I believe was active as of late last year or early January. The new title is in the title tag, in Google cache and in MOZ crawls as well. Not sure why it would still be showing a different title in the search and wanted to see if anyone can explain the reason. Thanks

Writing unique meta titles for canonicalised products or not?
Hi all, I have a question (duh): I have like 10 colours of the same product. I will make one colour the canonical, do I still need to write unique meta titles for the others? I am almost certain it doesn't add value at all, but wanted to double check since I couldn't find it anywhere. Thanks a lot in advance and have a great day!

Page title contents
In my page title, I have my product name. Is it beneficial to also include another keyword like: Buy wedding dress online Australia: e..g. (page title) amelie wedding dress | buy wedding dress online Australia. Or is it better just using: Amelie wedding dress

Optimal amount of alt and title tags on a landing page?
Hey guys! We are preparing a few product landing pages and want to make sure the alt and title tags are done correctly. We looked at landing pages from Apple and Google Nexus and found that they had very few alt and title tags (or none). Are we missing something here? Should there be an alt for every image and title for every link?

Duplicate Title and Meta Description Tags in Shopify with this App
Hello. I'm finding that by adding the Ultra SEO app in Shopify, I now have duplicates of the Title tags and Meta Descriptions. It looks like it's pulling title tags from the Shop info, the product or page titles as well as the Title tag I add in Ultra SEO. The website is 1bigcookie.com. The duplicate meta descriptions are from the text I entered in the meta description field in Ultra SEO. I entered the canonical url code shopify specifies to help with duplicate content, but what about duplicate title and meta description tags on the same page?

Title Tag: Phrases vs. Keywords Separated by "|"
Hello, One of my client's old sites has all category titles of the form (for example) running shoes | running shoe | walking shoes | walking shoe including many that perform well with over 60 characters. I'm in the process of rewriting the titles into something like Running and Walking Shoes, A quality shoe at OurShoes.com The reason I'm rewriting them is for future google penalties, and to look better to possible guest post opportunities. Also to look better in the SERPS But the old style is performing very well. What are the real pros and cons of each? Thanks.
