No, the meta description tag has no effect on rankings. It could affect CTR if someone things it's an outdated article if the date displayed is old.

I believe that this is because of your site being on the Wordpress platform and the theme you are using.

Hello Moz community, I’ve got a question and hope you can help! I’ve been working to improve my website’s ranking for the keywords “singing lessons London”. My current website url is http://www.sonic-crew-london.com and the page dedicated to the singing lessons is http://www.sonic-crew-london.com/booking/singinglessons.php I’ve recently bought the url http://www.singing-lessons-london.com which I hope will help to climb Google’s ranks a bit more easily for my chosen keywords. I thought I could redirect the old singing page to the new url. Is that something you would recommend me to do? Need help please with url guidelines.

Hi SEO PROS, I have a website and I am planing to change all the urls. I need to know what is the right way of making the urls. Here is some information. We are based in Brooklyn NY and we sell our services to Manhattan clients and Manhattan has few names. NY, NYC, Manhattan and NY. So by looking at my service area I came up with this url. http://www.signsny.com/brooklyn-ny/awnings this is my current url. http://www.signsny.com/sign-types/awnings-canopies-brooklyn-NYC. This is what I am planning to change it to. Please guide me to the right direction, so in future I don't have to re-do them again. Thanks Abie

I want to install a pop up on my site for collecting email addresses. I use nopcommerce as my platform. I was quoted a price to custom develop it but thought there might just be a simple plugin. I can find them for wordpress but that is all. Does anybody have experience with this?

Is this normal on my website speed tool

Hi, i would like to know if this is normal as i have never come across it before. i have just checked my speed which needs a lot of improving. I use joomla 3.0 and recently had a developer upgrade it from 1.5, but now i am seeing under the speed test my website showing twice which looks like it is causing a time delay. the tool is http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/dTjwDM/www.in2town.co.uk can someone please look and let me know if this is normal. my site www.in2town.co.uk is coming up twice which seems to be slowing the site down and i have checked this tool with other sites and they are fine many thanks

Page authority old and new website

Dear all, I tried to find this question using the search option but cannot find the exact same problem. This is the thing: I launched a new website in January, replacing our old website that did pretty good in the SERPs. The old website is still running on a subdomain old.website.com and the new website is on www.website.com (www.denhollandsche.nl) Both sites are indexed by google right now, but I'm not sure if that's a good thing. For our main keyword, the page on the new website has an authority of "23" and the exact same page (some minor differences) on the old website still has an authority of "30". Both currently are on the second page of google while some time ago, they where still on position 2/3/4. My question is: if I would take down the old website and make a 301 redirect for the old page with P/A 30, to point to the new page with a P/A 23, will the p/a of this new page take over the P/A of the old page? What effects can I expect? The reason the old website is still running is that google images still shows images from old.domain.com in stead of images from the new website... Multi Company websites

Hello SEO community ! Hope you'll have some good advice for this project. 🙂 I'm working for a group of companies just starting its SEO experience. Nowadays they have 10 different websites with different names and pretty much the same objectives. So basicly, > Would it be better to gather all website under one adress with subdomains ? They want to display almost the same info, blogs and products.. It make dupplicate content a real pain and Social Media strategy a nightmare. NEED HELP ASAP: SERVER ISSUE

Hey guys, Some of you may be aware of our story. We have a website about or son who was born with Down syndrome. Two days a go a post I wrote went sort of viral, and I woke up this morning to an email from my host saying they had to take my site down as an emergency because of the amount of resources it is using. So now my site is down (noahsdad.com.) ...any ideas how to proceeded? I really need to get my site back online asap. Thank you.

/$1 URL Showing Up

Whenever I crawl my site with any kind of bot or a sitemap generator over my site. it comes up with /$1 version of my URLs. For example: It gives me hdiconference.com & hdiconference.com/$1 and hdiconference.com/purchases & hdiconference.com/purchases/$1 Then I get warnings saying that it's duplicate content. Here's the problem: I can't find these /$1 URLs anywhere. Even when I type them in, I get a 404 error. I don't know what they are, where they came from, and I can't find them when I scour my code. So, I'm trying to figure out where the crawlers are picking this up. Where are these things? If sitemap generators and other site crawlers are seeing them, I have to assume that Googlebot is seeing them as well. Any help? My developers are at a loss as well.
