Outsourcing of guest blog articles and usefulness of links from guest blogging
-
I'm not the greatest writer but want to do some guest blogging for links and traffic. Are there any businesses out there that write world class guest blog articles for subjects that match my business?
Also, i've read that doing this for links is really moot because the blog posts get archived and become pagerank "unranked" thereby offering little link value after about a month or so. Once they get archived do they still get counted by google and does the anchor text and page rank still count?
Thanks in advance mozzers!

World Class? Probably not, but if you get an article of that quality you should post it on your own website. That is the type of article that attracts a lot of attention and has the potential to rank #1.

This depends where you are posting. You should be able to dig down through historic posts and see what happens to their posts after a few years.

If they are being archived you don't want to do this.
Honestly, it's best to post unique and valuable content on your own domain. If you start giving it away you are feeding your competitors and creating new competitors. Do you really want to do that.

Re: your first question, you can hire freelance writers through any number of channels (e.g., Craigslist, Guru, etc.) If you are looking for one in a specific industry that requires expert knowledge, this may mean you have to look harder, or post a job offering yourself. Any writer worth his/her salt can do a blog post.
As for your second question, the method with which pages are archived and linked to on a blog depends entirely on the blog. Perhaps one the following points relates to what you read:
1. Older posts may no longer be linked to directly from the homepage/main blog page, and may therefore seem not be getting as much PageRank/Authority/whatever flowing to them. However, a blog with a smart site architecture and internal linking should be relatively well-protected against this (and hopefully the posts have some external links as well!).
2. Some blogs that accept masses of guest posts shuffle them to an archived netherworld, because they simply can't handle the glut of "content" they are posting. If this is the case, the link may not be worth the time and money you are putting into getting it anyway.
A little detective work could tell you how well-linked those older posts are, and whether they are getting any juice from the main site. Focus on blogs that seem like they get some actual traffic (from people other than people looking to guest post) and you should be fine.
So, at best what you've read is a gross over-generalization. While it is important to diversify your link portfolio beyond solely guest blogging for a number of reasons (looks more natural, scalability, diminishing returns, the possible eventuality of Google devaluing byline links), it can still be a worthwhile tactic for link/brand/whatever building.

Thousands of duplicate website links at "Who links the most" in Google webmasters. Any risk being duplicate website links pointing to website?
Hi all, As I mentioned some days back here, our duplicate website got indexed a month back. Unfortunately there are links to our original website. I noticed that thousands of links are from our duplicate website at "Links to Your Site". Will this hurts? Now we have blocked the duplicate website getting indexed. What to do to remove these links from "Who links the most"? Thanks

Wordpress Blog Integrated into eCommerce site - Should we use one xml sitemap or two?
Hi guys, I wonder whether you can help me with a couple of SEO queries: So we have an ecommerce website (www.exampleecommercesite.com) with its own xml sitemap, which we have submitted to the Google Webmasters Console. However, recently we decided to add a blog to our site for SEO purposes. The blog is on a subdomain of the site such as: blog.exampleecommercesite.com (We wanted to have it as www.exampleecommercesite.com/blog but our server made it very difficult and it wasn't technically possible at the time) 1. Should we add the blog.exampleecommercesite.com as a separate property in the Google Webmaster tools? 2. Should we create a separate xml sitemap for the blog content or are there more benefits in terms of SEO if we have one sitemap for the blog and the ecommerce site? If appreciate your opinions on the topic! Thank you and have a good start of the week!

Any benefit to splitting up links from one company to diff pages?
We are the presenting sponsor for this big event in our area (Chasco Fiesta). As part of being their sponsor, their website has linked to us in five different places on their site. But it's all to our homepage. Would there be any benefit to having them link to other pages on our site instead of just our homepage (assuming the other pages are a reasonable expectation for the user, of course)? Thanks, Ruben

Using a sites custom code for multiple websites: good or bad?
Is it bad to utilize a custom codebase for multiple websites? Does that play a factor within Google? Also, what about hosting sites with the same custom codebase on the same dedicated server?

Too Many Non-Niche-Specific Links?
Something just occurred to me today. I work in-house for an embroidered patch company, but I respond to a lot of HARO queries about Marketing, SEO, SEM, Web Design, ect. So, we have a lot of links from these types of sites. Additionally, I have done guest blogs on these topics because those are what I'm knowledgeable about. We also have links from customers' personal blogs or websites stating they got their patches from us and are happy, blah, blah, blah. On top of that, we hired someone who ended up getting tons of .edu links by spamming blogs. Oy. I'd estimate only about 10% of our links come from embroidery, sewing, screen printing, promotional products, etc types of sites. I guess it's not really known or documented how much weight Google places on niche-specific links--we just assume that it matters, and I'm sure it does. Our rankings are fine now, but I'm looking for some opinions from other SEOs about how much they think this will matter in the future or how much it matters now. Could this hurt us in the future? .

Blog problems
I have a portfolio of blogs, and have just had 9 de-indexed by google. What worries me more than anything else is that :- 1. there is no interlinking whatsoever 2. content is all unique and on topic 3. most have no outbound links This is truly bizarre - you stick to the rules and get de-indexed ! Has anyone else had a similar issue, advice or comments as I am truly perplexed. Thanks

How often do people use Google Product Search
I was was reading Tom Critchlow's excellent blog on how to rank well for Google Product Search. I'm trying to find out if there are stats on how often people use this feature in Google (since it is not listed on Google's main navigation). I'm working with a customer who has b-2-b products and am trying to determine the value of adjusting his ecommerce pages to appear on Google Product Search.
