Hi Christopher
Link Round ups and Resource pages are quite common on the web especially with bloggers.
I wrote a post about finding and approaching these types of sites...
-
"Resource Lists and Link Round ups",Can you add a little explaination on what and how of this tool?
-
Hi Christopher (great name by the way)
When it comes to link building it really depends on the niche, the budget and strategy of the overall campaign as to what types of links I would advise anyone to go after.
1. Guest Blogging on Real Sites with Real Communities (not those glorified article directory blogs)
2. Resource Lists and Link Round ups if you have a high quality resource don't be afraid to ask other webmasters to link to you
3. Infographics - Data Visualisations really go down well in certain niches - in other areas they've been done to death
4. Broken Link Building and Helping Webmasters clean up technical site issues
If you are still struggling for inspiration then I recommend you check out this post

and I have a list of my favourite link building blogs here:

But as Mike King says "its about making friends or making the news"

Keri sorry I am new to this Webmaster Community so I am not sure about it.He posted a same response several times even with my new reply so I think its like it but thanks for clarification.I excuse I am wrong about it.

Christopher, our Q&A system sometimes is slow and multiple identical responses get posted on occasion. Heather was not trying to spam, it was our fault. We have a system upgrade coming next week that should fix this.

Building value and delivering it surely thats the essence of today success. This is what every one wants. The Search engines and the users.I have recently developed a blog about forums.
http://forumlist.info/
It give the users list of relevant forums of there topic.
Jumping high in alexa and even PR 1 of all internal pages and old post in less than 6 months with out SEO.Surely moving on my questions.Still there are some ways if not many we can create some good backlinks.Guest blogging voice I hear every where.People says Forum/blog posting with little different still on song. here is what I get one example of PR from you and some one else.I am all confuse hearing too many opinions so I just step ahead and asked you guys for some real life experience.
If the other practices still work what cares a person needs to take on creating backlinks from them. -
Heather Baker Its like you try to add some spam here. One post is enough at a time.If you are real than answer me How can I add backlink in PR.I read a post in SEL claiming that the world of PR is over and in case you still do it.Do it for press publication with one or two open URL.Anchor text PR no longer have same value because people abruptly use it to manipulate rank.

Hey Christopher,
Great Question. This is a topic really close to my heart as I consider myself primarily a link builder before an account manger.
The way I create backlinks for large ecommerce platforms (1 million+ visits from search per week) has reverted back to the more traditional way of doing marketing and PR, it now just has a SEO twist to it.
Building out the assets you have on your site is key here. For example, if you are an optician, perhaps you should build out a widget that allows users to take a picture with there webcam and add the new glasses range to see how they look. Then set up a press release and contact some of the industry bloggers about it and see if they would be interested in writing about it. Then support this through the companies brand social channels.
If you are a local business, I would say you need to go back to the 1940s ways of doing business and get to know your neighbour and start giving back to the community in order to get those prized links. For example, if you are a removal service in a University town, you should be offering students big discounts on your service and contacting the university to get them to link to your site in the online student starter packs.
Basically, building a value proposition and telling people about it is the new link building tactic. It's the only thing that is truly scalable and search engine safe.
All the other tactics like guest posting, PRs, blog comments, directories all still work, but the approach is totally different. You just need to be much more selective about who you choose to interact with and where you spend your time.
I made a video response talking over this. Apologies for the lack lustre voice, I have a cold right now.
Cheers,
Ross

Hi Christopher. Public relations works really well for quality link building:
I recently wrote a blog post on how to use PR to build elite links here: http://toplinecomms.com/blog/2013/02/pr-agency-trade-secrets-to-help-seos-build-elite-links
I hope this helps

Link building too quickly
Hi all, I have recently started trialing to outsource some SEO to a 3rd party, who obviously promissed white hat techniques and manual links etc.. All has gone well for the first month. But on speeking to another expert they point out that the search engines will spot inconcistencies in link building and penalise me. I know there will not be a know ammount but as we stand at the moment, what is the current feeling of too fast. Links built for me in one month were 100 directory submissions 80 bookmarks 16 search engine submissions 15 Article submissions 46 forum links 10 local classified searches Is this too fast? , If to do I stop and create more inconsistency or continue at a similar rate. Of course quality of link will be an issue, but how much. Many thanks from SEO jnr

Should I become a regular contributor to help my SEO link building?
I've been offered the opportunity to contribute to a blog as often as I want and have a link included at the bottom of each post. Will this be much help to me in my link building SEO campaign? As I understand it more links from different root domains are what really count? So 20 links each from a different site is more valuable that 20 links from one site? Should I take up this opportunity or are my efforts best spent elsewhere?

Link Building Ideas?
Hi everyone, I am currently working on a site where people can buy mail-order bagels, i.e. the bagels are shipped via postal mail. It's a good alternative for places that have no good bagel stores nearby, especially in small, rural towns. I am about to launch a link-building campaign for the website, but am a little stuck as to where to begin. My first thought was guest posting, but it seems like the vast majority of food blog owners are very protective of their blogs and rarely, if ever, allow guest posts. I also thought about doing sponsored reviews (i.e. sending mommy bloggers free samples in exchange for a review), but that's essentially a paid link, i.e. a no-no. There are of course generic web directories, but those only get you so far, and article marketing is out of the question (too spammy). Was hoping I might be able to bounce off some ideas off of you all. Any thoughts? Thank you in advance for whatever tips/ideas you might be able to share 🙂 Lukas

Link Building with Bloggers
I want to know when it comes to link building with relevant bloggers, is there a difference among the following in terms of SEO value? product review product giveaway guest blog Also, what would look natural o Google as how many of such links I can build per month? We are a consumer products, we've had lots of bloggers approach us wanting to do the above link building with us, if they fit the profile, high quality site, relevant to our business, does that mean I can do as many per month as we'd like to?

Can anyone recommend an outsourced link building service they have used with success in addition to their own higher effort link building? (I'm not talking about 1,000 automated directory link submission services.) Thanks.

Create content or more link building?
For those of you who have been doing white hat SEO for many years, I'm curious what % of your time (and/or how many hours/week) you spend on 2 activities: -- creating new, original content for your site -- work on getting links to your existing content I find that working at getting links via article marketing, guest blogging, forum posting, etc, is an open ended time suck that never ends. But maybe a necessary investment for sites that have fewer external links than their competitors (?). Adding unique original content to my site is also time consuming, and I'm not sure about the short-term vs long-term benefit of it. I'm curious if you guys who rank in top 3 positions of the SERPs split your time evenly between link building and content building, or if you spend more time on one than the other? And does the answer change for a site that's been around for a while and already has several hundred external links and several hundred pages of original content? Where should I spend my time on a site that is 8 months old, has about 90 pages of original content (all with good on-page SEO), and several hundred external links (with mostly relevant anchor texts)? My goal is to rank higher for the key terms people search on to find a service like mine. Currently I'm on page 1 in SERPs but not in top 3.
