Best practice for Landing page in Wordpress
-
Hi Mozers,
has anyone experience in setting up landing pages with Wordpress? The problem I want to solve is the following:
I work with a membership area like SEOmoz in which I have some bigger plugins running. If i make a landing page in the same installation like a custom post type/template or via another plugin like "Premise" all plugins will automatically load as well. That will harm my page loading time.
Do you think, I should work maybe with Wordpress Multisites? Landing pages as a separate blog and the membership area as another blog?
Appreciate any good idea!
Thanks

Perhaps laziness. Perhaps it's just someone who came up with a good solution that worked for themselves and then wanted to make money off of selling it to others

To setup a landing page on your own seems not very different from setting up other pages on Wordpress.
Why people use plugins like PREMISE or unbounce? What are the advantages of these services? I don't see any sence in that ... might somebody explain that to me! Or is it only for lazy webdesigners?
Thanks

That sounds like a good solution. Will test the plugin. Thanks

I don't think it is necessary to use WP multisite to achieve those results. Here are some resources for you:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6774424/wordpress-disable-plugin-on-specific-pages-posts
That article mentions this Plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/plugin-organizer/

Website blog is hacked. Whats the best practice to remove bad urls
Hello So our site was hacked which created a few thousand spam URLs on our domain. We fixed the issue and changed all the spam urls now return 404. Google index shows a couple of thousand bad URLs. My question is- What's the fastest way to remove the URLs from google index. I created a site map with sof the bad urls and submitted to Google. I am hoping google will index them as they are in the sitemap and remove from the index, as they return 404. Any tools to get a full list of google index? ( search console downloads are limited to 1000 urls). A Moz site crawl gives larger list which includes URLs not in Google index too. Looking for a tool that can download results from a site: search. Any way to remove the URLs from the index in bulk? Removing them one by one will take forever. Any help or insight would be very appreciated.

Best practices for types of pages not to index
Trying to better understand best practices for when and when not use a content="noindex". Are there certain types of pages that we shouldn't want Google to index? Contact form pages, privacy policy pages, internal search pages, archive pages (using wordpress). Any thoughts would be appreciated.

What to do when you want the category page and landing page to be the same thing?
I'm working on structuring some of my content better and I have a dilemma. I'm using wordpress and I have a main category called "Therapy." Under therapy I want to have a few sub categories such as "physical therapy" "speech therapy" "occupational therapy" to separate the content. The url would end up being mysite/speech-therapy. However, those are also phrases I want to create a landing page for. So I'd like to have a page like mysite.com/speech-therapy that I could optimize and help people looking for those terms find some of the most helpful content on our site for those certain words. I know I can't have 2 urls that are the same, but I'm hoping someone can give me some feedback on the best way to about this. Thanks.

Best way to condense content on a page?
We want to add a video transcript to the same page as the video, but it doesn't really fit the design of the page. Is it fine to use CSS/DIVs to either have a "click to read full transcript" or a scroll box?

301 lots of old pages to home page
Will it hurt me if i redirect a few hundred old pages to my home page? I currently have a mess on my hands with many 404's showing up after moving my site to a new ecommerce server. We have been at the new server for 2 years but still have 337 404s showing up in google webmaster tools. I don't think it would affect users as very few people woudl find those old links but I don't want to mess with google. Also, how much are those 404s hurting my rank?

What are the SEOmoz-suggested best practices for limiting the number of 301 redirects for a given site?
I've read some vague warnings of potential problems with having a long list of 301 redirects within an htaccess file. If this is a problem, could you provide any guidance on how much is too much? And if there is a problem associated with this, what is that problem exactly?
