Google cached pages and search terms
-
Here's something I noticed. We have a rank A page and it's ranking 10 on Google search results.
When I hover my mouse over our search result, Google gives us a preview, but Google also highlights in red where the search keyword is present on the page.
Reviewing our page, even though we have it as the h1 header and intro paragraph, Google is highlighting it half way down the page. Any ideas why?
I review rank 1 - 5 and Google highlights the keyword on the intro paragraph and h1 header
Have you guys experienced anything like this? It makes me think..Google could be crawling my site and thinking I haven't got it in the h1 or intro paragraph etc..
Thoughts?

Thanks AntkitMaheshwari and Danrawk,
I've just downloaded a chrome extention to view text versions of the cached file. Our built in template is spewing multiple h1s but that's something we need to look at separately. We also have a lot of menu links which might be pushing the crawling to review the text at a later stage..But still, it skipped the H1 and first paragraph.
I'll look into this a bit more.
Danrawk, on page grader gives an A and there is no weird formatting. Maybe it's a conflict issue. It's counting the first H1 and skipping the second.
Hmm...

Are you doing any other kind of weird formatting (schema.org formatting perhaps?) to that h1 header tag? google's robots might be jumping over it .
run that page through the on page grade evaluation in the seomoz tools page.

Check the cached text version of your page in Google and compare it with that of first 5 results. It might be that through you have it in H1 tag however, during crawl process Google is finding it below the content which it is highlighting for your page. Compare it with top ranking sites and you might have to simply fix the code of the page.

How to Get Rid of Dates Shown In Google Search Results
When I enter "Site: URL" to check what a search how Google displays search result, a date appears at the very front. This takes away several characters, really valuable real estate. How can I stop Google from displaying these dates? There are certain Wordpress plugins like "WP Date Remover" however the seem to only apply to blog posts. Dates are appearing on results on all my Wordpress pages. Is there an internal setting in Wordpress that will allow me to remove dates for these non blogpost pages?

What to try when Google excludes your URL only from high-traffic search terms and results?
We have a high authority blog post (high PA) that used to rank for several high-traffic terms. Right now the post continues to rank high for variations of the high-traffic terms (e.g keyword + " free", keyword + " discussion") but the URL has been completed excluded from the money terms with alternative URLs of the domain ranking on positions 50+. There is no manual penalty in place or a DCMA exclusion. What are some of the things ppl would try here? Some of the things I can think of: - Remove keyword terms in article - Change the URL and do a 301 redirect - Duplicate the POST under new URL, 302 redirect from old blog post, and repoint links as much as you have control - Refresh content including timestamps - Remove potentially bad neighborhood links etc Has anyone seen the behavior above for their articles? Are there any recommendations? /PP

Previously blacklisted website still not appearing on Google searches.
We have a client who before us, had a website that was blacklisted by Google. After we created their new website, we submitted an appeal through Google's Webmaster Tools, and it was approved. One year later, they are still unable to rank for anything on Google. The keyword we are attempting to rank for on their home page is "Day in the Life Legal Videos" which shouldn't be too difficult to rank for after a year. But their website cannot be found. What else can we do to repair this previously blacklisted website after we're already been approved by Google? Here is the website in question: https://www.verdictvideos.com/

Implications of extending browser caching for Google?
I have been asked to leverage browser caching on a few scripts in our code. http://www.googletagmanager.com/gtm.js?id=GTM-KBQ7B5 (16 minutes 22 seconds) http://www.google.com/jsapi (1 hour) https://www.google-analytics.com/plugins/ua/linkid.js (1 hour) https://www.google-analytics.com/analytics.js (2 hours) https://www.youtube.com/iframe_api (expiration not specified) https://ssl.google-analytics.com/ga.js (2 hours) The number beside each link is the expiration for cache applied by the owners. I'm being asked to extend the time to 24 hours. Part of this task is to make sure doing this is a good idea. It would not be in our best interest to do something that would disrupt the collection of data. Some of what I'm seeing is recommending having a local copy which would mean missing updates from ga/gtm or call for the creation of a cron job to download any updates on a daily basis. Another concern is would caching these have a delay/disruption in collecting data? That's an unknown to me – may not be to you. There is also the concern that Google recommends not caching outside of their settings. Any help on this is much appreciated. Do you see any issues/risks/benefits/etc. to doing this from your perspective?

Two Similar Profile Pages: One Ranks 2 in Google - The Other 150
My client's site has a directory of doctors on it's site and they are targeting weight loss surgery patients. The problem is that when searching "weight loss surgeon richmond va" one of the doctor's profiles ranks 2nd in Google organic results while the other is not even in the first 10 pages. Both have very similar link profiles and I have checked all the technical things like noindex tags, canonicals, etc to see if that might be the problem but it all checked out. The second doctor's profile IS indexed in Google, just not ranking. We have done a lot of work to push his profile page up in the rankings but all efforts seem to have fallen short. Here are the profiles: http://advancedsurgicalpartnersofva.com/physicians/profile/Gregory-L-Schroder-MD - ranks 2 in Google http://advancedsurgicalpartnersofva.com/physicians/profile/Matthew-Brengman-MD-FACS - does not rank Any ideas would be much appreciated!

Google Search Results...
I'm trying to download every google search results for my company site:company.com. The limit I can get is 100. I tried using seoquake but I can only get to 100. The reason for this? I would like to see what are the pages indexed. www pages, and subdomain pages should only make up 7,000 but search results are 23,000. I would like to see what the others are in the 23,000. Any advice how to go about this? I can individually check subdomains site:www.company.com and site:static.company.com, but I don't know all the subdomains. Anyone cracked this? I tried using a scrapper tool but it was only able to retrieve 200.
