Duplicate Content in Blog
-
Hi,
SEOMoz on-page analysis is reporting that our blog has duplicate content when technically it doesn't.
Is this something that we need to address as it will actually be hurting our ranking or is this just a SEOMoz software quirk?
There is 100+ example like this but here is one example. SEOMoz is reporting
http://www.invoicestudio.com/Blog/author/InvoiceStudio?page=1
and
http://www.invoicestudio.com/Blog/author/InvoiceStudio?page=2
as a duplicate content and Title Tag.
Thanks
Andrew

Hey Andrew
You actually have a potential duplicate content problem with these pages. If you look at:
http://www.invoicestudio.com/Blog/author/InvoiceStudio
http://www.invoicestudio.com/Blog/author/InvoiceStudio?page=1
The same content is on the page. The URL with ?page=1 is obviously query generated, but there's every chance that Google will try to index this URL in its current format. If it does that, then the two URLs will have duplicate content, in Google's eyes.
As you only have one physical page, but multiple potential URLs, I'd recommend using a canonical tag. You could add a rel=canonical tag to http://www.invoicestudio.com/Blog/author/InvoiceStudio pointing to the same URL - eg: rel="canonical" href="http://www.invoicestudio.com/Blog/author/InvoiceStudio" />. This will tell Google that this version of the URL is the original and ask the bot to ignore any dynamic URLs generated from it. That will prevent the URLs from being indexed, thus removing any chance of duplicate content.
Hope that helps with that particular issue.

Its reporting that your Title and Description within your Meta tags are duplicated
And its right ,they are
Title Tag - Online Invoicing Software,UK Small Business
Description Tag - Learn more about Online Invoicing, managing and collecting payments with the Invoice Studio blog as well as keep up to date on all the latest UK small business news
You should make all these unique to the content on the page

'Duplicate Page Content' for dissimilar pages
I'm using Moz's Crawl Diagnostics to try and clean up some SEO priorities for our website (http://www.craftcompany.co.uk) HOWEVER, virtually all of the pages that are being categorised as duplicate content are not the same, or indeed similar. For instance, these three pages have been deemed duplicated pages; http://www.craftcompany.co.uk/pme-rose-leaf-veined-plunger.html http://www.craftcompany.co.uk/double-faced-satin-ribbon-black-25mm-wide.html http://www.craftcompany.co.uk/double-faced-satin-maroon-10mm-wide-25mt.html Can anyone give me an insight into why this is? Many Thanks! http://www.craftcompany.co.uk/

In my crawl diagnostics, there are links to duplicate content. How can I track down where these links originated in?
How can I find out how SEOMOz found these links to begin with? That would help fix the issue. Where's the source page where the link was first encountered listed at?

Our Duplicate Content Crawled by SEOMoz Roger, but Not in Google Webmaster Tools
Hi Guys, We're new here and I couldn't find the answer to my question. Here it goes: We had SEOMoz's Roger Crawl all of our pages and he came up with quite a few erros (Duplicate Content, Duplicate Page Titles, Long URL's). Per our CTO and using our Google Webmaster Tools, we informed Google not to index those Duplicate Content Pages. For our Long URL Errors, they are redirected to SEF URL's. What we would like to know is if Roger is able to know that we have instructed Google to not index these pages. My concern is Should we still be concerned if Roger is still crawling those pages and the errors are not showing up in our Webmaster Tools Is there a way we can let Roger know so they don't come up as errors in our SEOMoz Tools? Thanks so much, e

Wrong duplicated page content
I found out that some errors on my website are considered as "duplicated page content" while they are not, the content is different on each page. I wonder why ? Is it an issue from Seomoz ?

This Rookie needs help! Duplicate content pages dropped significantly.
So I am pretty new to SEO Moz. I have an e-commerce site and recently did a website redesign. However, not without several mistakes and issues. That said, when SEO Moz did a crawl of my site, the results showed A LOT of Duplicate Content Pages on my site due to my having one item in many variations. It was almost over whelming and because the number of pages was so high, I have been trying to research ways to correct it quickly. The latest crawl from yesterday shows a drastic drop in the number of duplicate content pages and a slight increase in pages with too long page titles (which is fixable). I am embarrassed to give the number of duplicate pages that were showing but, just know, it's been reduced to a third of the amount. I am just wondering if I missed something and should I be happy or concerned? Has there been a change that could have caused this? Thanks for helping this rookie out!

Blogger Duplicate Content? and Canonical Tag
Hello: I previously asked this question, but I would love to get more perspectives on this issue. In Blogger, there is an archive page and label(s) page(s) created for each main post. Firstly, does Google, esp. considering Blogger is their product, possibly see the archive and tag pages created in addition to the main post as partial duplicate content? The other dilemma is that each of these instances - main post, archive, label(s) - claim to be the canonical. Does anyone have any insight or experience with this issue and Blogger and how Google is treating the partial duplicates and the canonical claims to the same content (even though the archives and label pages are partial?) I do not see anything in Blogger settings that allows altering these settings - in fact, the only choices in Blogger settings are 'Email Posting' and 'Permissions' (could it be that I cannot see the other setting options because I am a guest and not the blog owner?) Thanks so much everyone! PS - I was not able to add the blog as a campaign in SEOmoz Pro, which in and of itself is odd - and which I've never seen before - could this be part of the issue? Are Blogger free blogs not able to be crawled for some reason via SEOmoz Pro?

Why am I getting duplicate content errors on same page?
In the SEOmoz tools I am getting multiple errors for duplicate page content and duplicate page titles for one section on my site. When I check to see which page has the duplicate title/content the url listed is exactly the same. All sections are set up the same, so any ideas on why I would be getting duplication errors in just this one section and why they would say the errors are on the same page (when I only have one copy uploaded on the server)?

Crawl Diagnostics and missing meta tags on noindex blog pages
Hi Guys/Gals We do love the Crawl Diagnostics, but do find the missing meta tags ("Missing Meta Description" Tag in this case) somewhat spammy. We use the "All in One SEO Pack" for our blog and it does stick in noindex, follow (as it should) on the pages that is of no use to us. "2008/04/page/2/" and the likes. Maybe I'm wrong but should the Diagnostics tool not respect the noindex tag and just ignore any warnings, since it should really mean that these pages are NOT included in the search index. Meaning that the other meta tags are really useless. Any thoughts?
