Wordpress SEO vs Regular Site SEO
-
Hey Mozzers
I'm building a Wordpress-powered site (self hosted on different domain).
I know there are different plug-ins and whatnot for Wordpress SEO, but what exactly am I getting myself into? Am I required to use these plug-ins even if I already know how to do regular SEO on-page coding, or are they mainly dumbed-down tools for mom-bloggers to use?
Am I still able to use Google Analytics as I am with a regular site?
What else is there to think about? Thanks!

Another Thumps Up vote for Yoast.

I understand your thinking, however this is one of those times where you don't have to do it the hard way. Meaning you take advantage of the ease of use that a plugin provides, while still maintaining your special touches (the art of seo). Like Mike said, plugins will make it easier even if you know what you are doing.
My recommendation is Yoast Wordpress SEO (free). The developer is totally devoted to this plugin and stays on top of all issues, as well as trends. If you are going to be using video on your site, you should buy the Video sitemap plugin from Yoast too. It integrates right in perfectly and adds the video sitemap. It also automatically codes your videos so that they show up in the SERPs with a link back to your site. After building hundreds of WordPress sites, I have tried all the major plugins, but this one is the most reliable.
Yoast also has an Analytics plugin that enhances your Google Analytics data automatically, giving you more details than the standard site. You sound experienced, so you may not need/ want it, but you should at least look at it.

Got to love to Yoast!

I use the All-In-One SEO plugin. Another popular plugin is Yoast.
Wordpress can create a lot of duplicate content issues because it generates things like tag pages, category pages, and archive pages automatically. No-indexing most of these is a good idea, unless you are going to spend time creating unique content for them.
There are also plugins that make regular on-page SEO optimization tasks easier, such as adding robots exclusions, Google+ butons, etc. without having to muck around with the code.

Wordpress has some plugins that help in automating many of the processes of on-page SEO. It just makes the process a bit easier. I personally like how wordpress deals with optimization and I am not a "non-SEO" person. I would just research the different SEO plugins and find which one you like the best. They all work pretty much the same with some doing a better job than others. I would give you a recommendation, but I haven't worked with wordpress for a while and have been out of the loop.
Google Analytics is definitely doable with wordpress. All you have to do is place the analytics tag at the footer of your wordpress page. Easy as pie.

Google Analytics, Wordpress, Sumo - who to trust
Something is wrong. I have a website that according to Google Analytics gets zero relevant clicks, with most of the clicks it does get coming from Russia. Wordpress says it gets a hundred or so visitors a month, with most traffic going to the pages that I know rank. Sumo says the heat map got 76 clicks. How would you figure out what's really going on?

Link Activity to site keeps decreasing
Recently I have started seeing daily declines in the total inbound links to my site. 4 of my top 5 sources are all experiencing pretty significant declines and in fact, Pinterest has declined from a high of 16,295 links in Nov '15 to a current number that is 8,479 on 1/6/16. Any ideas on what could be causing these declines? I did upload a new sitemap in Nov, could this be the cause?

Bing vs Google Keyword Research
Hi All, I have carried out keyword research based on Google Analytics, Keyword Planner, competitors and various other toolsets.
Reporting & Analytics | | Mark_Ch
My research has been based on performance metrics favored towards Google.
I'm looking to research keyword traffic metrics and suggestions based on Bing Ads Intelligence. My Logic
I have compiled my master list based on Google metrics.
I will carry out Bing search traffic metrics based on my Google master list.
I will carry out Bing keyword suggestions based on my Google master list. My Questions
#1 Will my logic yield me any favorable benefits based on the high number of Google users vs Bing users
#2 Should Bing favor a particular keyword with high search traffic compared to Google, is there a fear that creating a 'seo user friendly website page' could dilute link juice based on the high Google users. Any other useful advice would be welcome. Regards Mark0 -

Analytics tagging parameters effect on site SEO
One of the effective tools used in analytics tagging is the use of analytics parameters that starts with '?' or '#'. Example on site tagging: Main link: www.domainname.com./category/sub-category/ www.domainname.com./category/sub-category/?lid=topnav www.domainname.com./category/sub-category/?lid=sidenav All three links link to the same landing page, with an extra parameter. Using email or campaign tagging: www.domainname.com./category/sub-category/ www.domainname.com./category/sub-category/?utm_source=launch&utm_medium=email&utm_term=html&utm_content=getscoop&utm_campaign=hwdyrwm2012 With that we create many tagged links based on the campaign internal strategy. How do these effect indexing, and link juice? How do thy effect SEO in general?

How would you measure the SEO success of new site launch?
It has been 12 months, and it is time for some serious SEO reality check up. I think we have done some really nice things (social integration, on page optimization etc) but we honestly could do a million time better on some other elements (anchor, text, link building etc...). Would love to hear from the community what would be the top 10 criteria you would use to judge the quality of the SEO work done for a new site during is first 12 months. PS: we are a very content rich over 1,500 new articles/post in our niche with 12 months - our site is migraine.com Thanks

Sort referring sites by visit change over time comparison in GA
I can't believe I've never done this before, so I'm going to assume that I previously must have figured it out via excel, but I'm hoping there's an easier way. So I want to compare the referring sites between April and May and see which have sent (specifically) less traffic. The problem with doing a comparison in GA is that it only sorts by the highest traffic for May, when actually I want to see the largest negative change (by number, not percentage) between April and May. Is there a way to do this via the dashboard or am I just going to have to play about in excel for 10 minutes?
