Facebook and Google+ Not Properly Picked Up
-
Hello,
I have been having issues for some time now getting my Google+ and Facebook activity to show in the social media section of site explorer. Was anyone else having this same issue? I have verified my website to both pages and the Facebook page receives a considerable amount of traffic so it is very confusing to me. Any help is much appreciated.
Thank You
Steve

Hey Steve,
While it is difficult to look into exactly what you are seeing without knowing the site you are researching, there are a few reasons that you may be seeing a discrepancy in Open Site Explorer. First, we can only show data for users that have public profiles, so no private users will be counted toward your likes.
Also, the number of likes or +1a for a specific URL from your website will be different than the number of likes or +1s on your business page in Facebook or Google+. For example, the number of people that have like moz.com on Facebook from the on site widget is 2095 (http://screencast.com/t/ueiSZsx7hxd), but the number of people that have liked our business page at www.facebook.com/moz is 127k (http://screencast.com/t/bZ8I17sRL). If you research your site URL, it will not match up with the number of likes on the Facebook business page. You would have to input the specific facebook.com URL to see that data.
I hope this clears things up. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Steve,
You diden't give any details about what you have done so far with linking you MOZ account with Google and Facebook, so here is what we have done, and our stats are working perfectly.
First go to the MOZ website, log in with your credentials. Then go to the "Profile" tab. Or go to this page: http://moz.com/community/users/account number. account number is replaced with your number. Click on the edit button, and you will see your different Social networks along with your social network account numbers or links. The google+ social account only needs to have your Google+ number in it. that will look like "110264763816136484790". it may take a day or two for the information to pass correctly. (Ours worked whither 5 minuets)
As far as the facebook profile all you need to do is put in your facebook name.
Now back from the profile page you should be able to see the full and correct address link to your social network. You should be able to now click on the updated social networks and be whisked away to that page. If not then you should try and change the information by modifying the address until is does work.
Don't forget to read about linking your Facebook account and what that number actually represents. If I remember correctly it doesn't represent "Likes" it represents "Shares"

Invite a Facebook user to Like a Company Page
Hi All, Was looking at our Facebook company page last night and was going through our recent posts and noticed that the individuals that liked our posts had an "Invite" button next to their name. I've been testing this and is it true that I can only send an Invite to like my company page if I'm actually friends with the user? The "Invite" button is there for every individual that has liked a post on our page, but I've only had success sending the invite to people I'm connected with. The frustrating thing about this is that the button changes to "Invited" regardless of whether or not they have actually received the invite.

Claiming Google+ URLs?
I have several brands which I am managing G+ profile pages for. These range from established brands with large followings to just starting out. When I try to claim a custom URL for these on Google+, it says to add some extra characters after the brand names to make them unique. I can't find any example of established big brands who have G+ URLS like "+toyotausa24" "+tacobell3" or anything like that. This does not seem to be well documented anywhere. Can someone tell me what the deal is with this feature? Also what is the best practice for large brands when claiming this? +BrandName1?

I am helping a company get their social profiles and networking in order, and just realized that they have a facebook page that is their "company page" - https://www.facebook.com/Capitol.Collision.Repair.Phoenix and one that is a person called their company: https://www.facebook.com/capitol.collisonis their any benefit to having both of them still active or should I just get rid of the "personal profile" and keep the company page? any advice would be really helpful! Thank you, J

Facebook Likes When Sharing
Company A Someone shares a post from Company B on their Facebook page. The post generated 1000 likes and 300 shares. Only a small percentage of likes show up for Company B's page. Why does Company B's page not receive all the likes or at least a higher percentage for that post?

Google Auth and brands/individuals problem
So you can auth pages with personal google+ profiles - and its being suggested by some that this could now help rankings if that person has lots of people in their circles. So what about brand/companies content? why cant they auth the content with their Google+ profile to get the content ranking better. It doesn't seem right an individual blogger can do this but a company cannot who has written lots of guides. An example is a holiday company has written some awesome content on resorts around the World - how to use the auth for that content to rank higher? - currently only possible to link up an individual as writing the content not the brand/company itself. Any suggestions on this much appreciated. I do not want to lose any gain there might be from this new bonus given from Google.

After watching Rand & Dharmesh's The State of SEO and Internet Marketing in 2012 webinar, I've been trying to learn more about the (current and potential long-term) impact of Google+ on SERPS and ranking. How can one leverage Google+ to improve SEO? Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks! Sherry

How do website owners gain from facebook scams like this?
I've noticed two things that are going wild on Facebook this week: http://timhortonsgiveaway.me/ and http://promoforipads.net/ In the first scenario, you supposedly just click share and they'll send you a $25 Tim Horton's gift card. (For those who don't know Tim's it is a very popular coffee shop in Canada). There's no way this is happening...they claim to have something like 5000 cards to give away. In the second one they're apparently giving away 1000 ipods. Yeah...OK. So, they're obviously scams that are just trying to get a few zillion facebook shares. But why?
