Can 500 errors hurt rankings for an entire site or just the pages with the errors?

I'm working with a site that had over 700 500 errors after a redesign in april. Most of them were fixed in June, but there are still about 200. Can 500 errors affect rankings sitewide, or just the pages with the errors?

Hi,
All errors in the URL Errors area (500, 4xx and so on) will only affect the specific pages and no matter the number it won't have any effect site wide - this was confirmed not long ago by a Web Trend Analyst from Google during a Google hangout. Only Site errors will have a temporary effect site wide and can cause de-indexation of large portions of a site of rankings changes.

Strange 404 Pages Appearing in Google Analytics
Hi, My client has some strange urls appearing in GA which lead to error pages. Please see the following image: https://imgur.com/a/6TPO8yL e.g URLs like /h/6445738.html I've used screaming frog to see if these pages exist on the website and I can't find them, anywhere. Therefore how are they coming up in GA? If anyone could please help I'd really appreciate it.

Google Analytics not Working on all pages despite many attempts
Hey gang, So this problem has been going on for months. None of our landing pages track, but all of our blog pages do. I've tried GA plugins, (we are on wordpress) and just now even put the code in the theme header script. Still to no avail. I just checked right now, and the blog pages have the global GA code, but now I noticed not even the home page has the code! Could it be something to do with my theme? I tried to pay a guy on upwork to fix but he couldn't fix it either. Thank you for you help!

Sitemap 404 error
I have generated a .xml sitemap of the site www.ihc.co.uk. The sitemap generated seems all fine, however when submitting to webmaster tools, it is returning a 404 error? anyone experienced this before. deleted and re-done the process. Tried different xml sitemap generators and even cleared cache along the way.

SEOMoz & GWT crawl error conflicting info
Site im working on has zero crawl errors according to SEOMoz (it did previously have lots since ironed out) but now looking at GWebmaster Tools saying 5000 errors. Date of those are not that recent but Webmaster Tools line graph of errors still showing aprox 5000 up to yesterday There is an option to bulk action/tick them all as fixed so thinking/hoping GWT just keeping a historical record that can now be deleted since no longer applicable. However i'm not confident this is the case since still showing on the line graph. Any ideas re this anomalous info (can i delete and forget in GWT) ? Also side question I take it its not possible to link a GA property with a GWT account if created with different logins/accounts ? Many Thanks Dan

Time on page: What happens when I open many tabs?
Hello everyone, I was studying Analytics, and checked that the time on page is calculated by the diference of the time you entered the page and when you click to go to another one. But how the time is calculated when I open several links using new tabs in different moments? Does Google counts the last tab? Just a guess... Thanks!

Why is Benetton ranking with tracking parameters?
For this search: https://www.google.com/search?q=benetton&pws=0 I see the following URL ranking #1 http://www.benetton.com/?utm_source=centrum.sk&utm_medium=listing Why is this happening? I could likely figure it out but I'm busy so I was hoping someone could dig around and let me know 🙂 Anyone? Incidentally, Benetton is in the middle of a massive campaign at the moment so it's strange timing for them to have this showing up and screwing with their GA tracking... EDIT: I should clarify, Benetton is not a client - I don't know anyone who works for or with them. I'm just curious why this is showing up. cmNWx.png

Unable to use Open Site Explorer
I have repeatedly tried to use Open Site Explorer on a site. I always get the same response:

The site is 4 months old. It is listed by Alexa in 1.3 million page category. The site ranks well on numerous key terms for the industry it covers.
OSE offers 4 reasons for not having data:
1. Recency of page creation. In the explanation offered 45-60 days is the longest estimate it should take. The site has been live close to 120 days.
2. Deep down in the web. The tool doesn't even have any data for the site's home page.
3. Blocked pages. The site is listed in Google and these pages are not blocked.
4. No links. There are plenty of links.

What can I do to fix this issue and get data?
