Can not get the ranking needle to move even after a year with a US based SEO company

Hello community,

I have spent the last 16 months spending lots of money on our USA Based SEO company and on content. For some reason. The powers who may be at Google are not giving us any love. I am beginning to become very dissapointed after all of our efforts. We did have a link penalty a year ago however that has long ago been removed. We have been doing everything our SEO company has asked us but the needle is not moving. Any ideas for us?

Why, my client website sudden gone down its ranking?

Local SEO issue

Hello, I have a client that is located just outside of Baltimore, MD. Their zip code is 21236, which is seen as sometimes Nottingham and sometimes Overlea. Their competitors come up for Baltimore with the same zip. This client seems to be having some problems, and I think it is because of this geo confusion? Is this so, and if so, how can I make location more clear to Google? Thanks

Does Penguin Help Negative SEO?

With negative link targeting seeming to become more and more of a ‘standard practice’ for more and more agencies and freelance SEOs (I, for one, have had to use the disavow tool far more than I ever thought I would) and the fact that there are more “link building services” that really only build ‘crap’ links than there were when that type of link building worked, I am honestly a bit afraid that Google is really just pushing SEO’s to the ‘dark side’ or at least handing black hat link builders a great tool for bringing down the competition. I had one SEO actually say to me “If my client can’t recover than at least I can target everyone that jumped ahead of them and only spend around $300 on bad link building”. This came from someone I NEVER thought would say anything of the sort and really got me to thinking’ “will this be the future of SEO?” I know the answer is no but still, it seems more and more people are just throwing their hands up and targeting competition rather than working on their own websites and with updates like Penguin I am afraid that more of my time will be spent disavowing links than building them.

Steady Traffic Decline over a 1 year period

Hello everyone, Need some help or suggestions. We have been experiencing a steady decline in our traffic for the last year or so. Beginning in October of 2011, we were averaging about 14,000 unique visitors per month (465/day). We are now averaging about 8,000 unique visitors per month (254/day). The thing that is really weird is that we do not have any type of a penalty from the big G. We have just seen a constant decrease in hits over the last 12 month period. Anywhere between 50-1,000 hits per month in decrease (continuously). This has just been frustrating, and no matter what we do, we cannot turn it around. Our whole website has been re-done in the last 3-4 months to see if we can stop this from continuing. We re-did a lot of the content, got rid of some pages that had keyword stuffing, we're now working on removing bad backlinks pointing to us. I am including an image with this post that will show you our gradual decline in traffic. I understand that the Google updates and refreshers have been coming out quite frequently (Panda, Penguin). But I also understand that most sites that have been affected by these algorithm changes, updates and refreshes have actually received penalties, sudden drops in traffic etc... We are still working on fixing the whole site before we submit a re-inclusion document to the big G. Does anybody in the SEOMOZ community have any suggestions or ideas as to what can be done to better our chances of getting back to normal traffic again? Everything that we did prior to the 2 latest Google updates has been according to what was legal and what worked in the past. Now, we have fixed the majority of those issues with our site, yet the decrease of traffic continues. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Help ranking for a keyword

So I found a keyword that is labeled as "Low Competive" on Google Adwords. About a week and a half ago I optimized the page using the SEOMOZ On-Page optimization tool. It says that I am 100% with everything. My website is new but it has been around for about a year. I haven't gotten into linking and the more in depth SEO. After doing some searches though I noticed a lot of other new website that are atleast ranking in the top 50 for certain keywords, so I figured I could get my page to rank atleast in the top 1000 for this "Low Competitive" keyword. Could someone take a look and see if maybe I over optimized it or did something that would make this keyword not rank even in the top 1000 on google? Any advise is appreciated. I am obviously very new to SEO, but I am someone that likes to do and learn everything for myself. Thanks in advance!
