Data or Examples of a Negative Impact of Sitewide Links
-
Hi!
Does anyone have any data or examples that show a negative (or positive) impact from "too many" sitewide links?
Ahref's tool shows the ratio of sitewide links to non-sitewide links. I have seen a website with 97% sitewide links rank very well in a vertical while a website with 0% sitewide links also ranks very well.

In most cases, Google sees a sitewide link as just a single vote for a site. "Too many sitewide links" really wouldn't be the issue. But, "too many domains with unnatural links" could cause a problem. Here's more on John Mueller talking about how sitewide links are treated by Google:

Taking Andriy's point a little further, it also depends on the site being linked to. Since the sitewide incoming links are but one element, a good site with an otherwise great link profile could hold up pretty well against the burden of incoming sitewide links.
It would also depend on the area/terms of competition. In a highly competitive space, the burden of those links could harm a razor thin advantage just enough to make a difference. Of course, with all of that I'm talking about the algorithm and not a manual penalty problem, which is a totally different animal.
Best of luck!

It much more depends form the quality of the site you get the site wide link. If this comes for example from Yahoo or Amazon or another trusted site it will never harm your site. But if you receive the same type of links from low quality sites it can be a big problem for quality of your site back link profile.

Buy domain, redirect, get all the good links (+link juice) and disavow the spammy ones?
There is a domain for sale that has a quite nice profile and a lot of good backlinks, but also quite a few spammy ones. This domain has a Spam Score of 14% acc. to Moz Link explorer, ours has only 2%. My questions: 1. The domain and the good backlinks are related to or close to our content/keywords. But we are worried whether the "spammy" ones will hurt us. Does anyone has experience with this? 2. Would it help if we disavow the spammy backlinks afterwards? And if so, how do we do that? Add new domain to search console, disavow the bad links and then redirect the entire domain to our domain or redirect the domain first and then disavow from our property? Many thanks for your help!

Should I disavow these links?
Hi all, I have a site that is a year old, we have been building backlinks organically - probably around 50 or so - then almost overnight we had100s of spammy links. Screenshot here: https://ibb.co/cijiub My questions: Should I disavow these? What happens if I don't disavow these? Can I work out where they came from? If I disavow a few of them, is this a token offering to the Google Gods that will lower my risk of being penalised? Thank you. cijiub

Product review based on sales data - How much should we link out?
Hello, We're doing a product review series based on sales data. How much should we link out? Consumersearch is the number one position with full sources for "best X product" Consumersearch has flaws it looks like. The data reads correct but the products they are promoting are not the best based on our own customer service informal interviews. Was wondering if we should include all data in the field including competitors and display our sources, or if we should just list in-house data. Any other advice for this is appreciated too. Thanks.

Internal Linking - Post links vs Side Bar Links behaving differently
Hi, I have a question regarding the internal linking behavior. My website is www.hindimeaning.com which is approx 3 years old. I have approx 450 posts. Now i have a widget on right sidebar "Popular posts". A widget below my posts "Related Posts". And a simple html CSS menu above the posts (I removed menu around 6 month before so currently it will not show.) I crawled my site with moz crawler (same are the result from google crawler as well) and it shows menus links as internal links. While sidebar widget "Popular posts" and "Related Posts" are not showing as internal links. If we talk theoretically what i learn till now is "every link on a page behaves as internal link". Then why the widget links are not showing as internal links. Thanks, Mahesh Kumar

Link in the footer
we have a sponsored link in the footer of a website, and since that footer is displayed on each page of that site, it shows that we have thousands of links coming from that site. my question is : does Google consider this as spamming? and does it help us , harm us, or has no effect?

Links or Redirect?
My client's company has just acquired another company in the same industry and with that acquisition came two websites; companyname.com and companyname.co.uk. companyname.com has PA13 and DA10, companyname.co.uk has PA15 and DA10. At the moment, the two companies are to be run as separate companies but will become fully merged in time. My client's own website is brand new (PA1 and DA) and I'm wondering what is the best way to use these other two sites to improve my client's search ranking. Should I use the two sites to link to my client (these would be logical and natural links e.g. explaining the acquisition, under new management) or would it simply be better to redirect the domains to the new site? Many thanks

Does focussing deep linking too much on one page have a negative impact elsewhere?
Hi, I'm just starting a backlinking campaign on a new website and am focussing on one deep page for client - focussing a lot of good quality backlinks on that one page. I'm aware that most of the other pages, including homepage, lack good backlinks. Can I go ahead and focus powerful backlinks on that one 'deep' page without a problem, or may that approach result in negative impacts on other pages' SERPs.
