Company Facebook and Personal Facebook with company name.
-
I am helping a company get their social profiles and networking in order, and just realized that they have a facebook page that is their
"company page" - https://www.facebook.com/Capitol.Collision.Repair.Phoenix
and one that is a person called their company: https://www.facebook.com/capitol.collisonis their any benefit to having both of them still active or should I just get rid of the "personal profile" and keep the company page?
any advice would be really helpful!
Thank you,
J

I see this quite often with companies who've set themselves up on facebook. It makes no sense for businesses to have a personal profile. Those profiles are designed for people, and yes it's a violation of the terms of use for companies to masquerade as people (be it intentionally or otherwise). So a profile like that is in risk of being deleted by facebook at any time. Also from a user point of view it makes no sense to have to 'friend' an entity, and just looks plain weird when referred to as a person. e.g. "company ___ has just updates 'his (or her)' profile photo". etc.
At least your company in question do have a proper page setup, so there really is no point in having a duplicate showing up. If they are using it as an account in order to access their Page they can do that so easily from their personal profiles. The Admin roles in facebook are now improved with a couple of different access levels from full admin to content creator, so there's no reason why the business owner, agency, content creators and anyone else can't manage a business Page with their personal profile(s) for access.
On your business Page you will be able to build on those Likes and run ads etc. as it was designed to be used. My advice is delete the personal profile (making sure you'll be able to access the Page via another account first). If they have 'friends' customers etc. on that personal profile maybe post a message to forewarn them that you'll be deleting that account soon and to head over and Like your Page to keep updated.
Hope this helps.

Pro: There are a lot of benefits to having a personal page that is actually a company. Personal pages have far more access to people's profiles than business pages do.
Con: However, though I can't quote the guideline, it is a violation of FB's rules, so they could delete your account.
Con: Personal pages, (I believe) will not help your website rankings in the way that FB business pages do (or are predicted to do) in the near future.
Hope this helps!

Sharing Blogs on my Personal or Business Google plus Account
Hi i have been using my business G+ account to share my blogs, but have realised that this would have been better using my personal G+ account. Should i now go back through those 50+ blogs and re-share via my personal G+ account eg one every 3 days or should i re-share the G+ business entry? Thanks Ash

Facebook experts, I need help: is this 'strategy' idea legit or nonsense?
Hi guys, I have a friend who works in a large university where each faculty has their own Facebook page. The pages are rarely maintained and experience very poor levels of engagement. The university's main Facebook page has a very large following (195,000+ likes), but again, the engagement is very poor - on average each post gets about 20 likes, 2 comments and 1-2 shares if that. Now, my friend works in one of the faculties and doesn't happen to have a Facebook page (his particular faculty is concentrating their efforts on other areas of inbound marketing). However, the social media manager for the university is insisting my friend’s faculty create a page and contribute to a wider ‘campaign’ being undertaken at the uni - however my friend is not convinced (and neither am I) that the logic behind this campaign makes sense. Here's how the campaign has been described: 1. The main university page (with 195k likes) posts a generic image ('whats happening this week at the uni'), which asks people to ‘look in the comments’ to see what's happening among all the different faculties 2. The faculty pages all at once submit comments on the post about 'what's happening' in their area 3. The faculty pages 'like' the main image post, share it, and like the other comments left by faculties The social media manager says this campaign approach will ensure the main post gets into the feed of the 195k followers (and more) and increase the reach of the other faculties’ pages because of the high level of 'engagement' and 'aggregation' on the post. My friend and I feel this idea is flawed for a number of reasons: 1. Routinely it’s the same people and faculties engaging with the post - so the vast majority of the 195k won't be reached virally anyway 2. The 195k have demonstrated they aren't engaged, due to the poor prior performance of the page – it’s unlikely the posts even make it to their feeds organically 3. The image is generic (it is literally a picture of a building which says 'what’s on this week') and doesn’t entice people to take an action - you can't see the comments as they're collapsed in the feed, so unless users actually are compelled by the image to click into the comments the post is useless 4. The message isn't targeted - a number of random faculties provide comments to the post, so it's very possible what's offered by the faculties isn't relevant to the wider audience. Anyway, I'd really hope someone with a deep understanding of Facebook could help provide some clarity on this campaign proposal. It seems like a flawed methodology which advocates manufacturing engagement and an ineffective use of time and resource. Many thanks

Youtube SEO: Does your channel name / user name matter?
My predecessor left me a gift of what is arguably the worst kind of Youtube channel name: Our company's name condensed to an acronym with some additional gibberish that may or may not have meant something to her. In short: Our channel name will never be searched for, will never provide any ranking boost. Now our Youtube success has been very marginal so far: 31 subscribers, 7,300 video views. Given that situation, should I seriously consider scrapping my channel and starting something new with a keyword targeted channel name? Or does channel name matter so little that I should hold on to my 7300 video views?

Sending a global facebook message
Hi, This is really a social media question, hoping you can help. We have 2 facebook sites that we are going to delete. One is a group and one is a page. Here they are: http://www.facebook.com/pages/NLP-Institute-of-California/101752159860852?ref=ts and http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=90698249783 How do we send a message to all people in both groups all at once letting them know of our new facebook page that we're making? We're also concerned that people will get 2 emails that are subscribed to both sites to be deleted.. Thanks!
