Advantages of Replacing Anchor Text with an Image?

Greetings,
I was reading the a recent case study pertaining to Penguin 2.1. (My website was hit hard)
It stated: "While classifying the website’s anchor texts (sorted by count), the first thing that strikes you is that the vast majority of the anchors are straight money keywords, which could be a possible reason for the penalty." My website suffers from a similar situation.
Is there any advantage to replacing the links to my website on my affiliate sites with images instead of using Anchor Text? My manager is concerned with losing so many backlinks.

I wouldn't count on affiliate links passing value to your site in the long term.
Note that most of the presentation is addressed to affiliates rather than to the program owners. Google tries to identify affiliate links and discount them, so you might not be gaining any value from these links anyway. If the links come from low-authority or low-quality sites AND have anchor text, it's surely not worth the risk. From Google's perspective, you shouldn't try to gain link equity from a link when financial compensation is involved. Ads, affiliate links, and other paid-for links should technically all be nofollow.
Images and branded links for affiliates may help avoid penalties (even though Google will probably devalue the links eventually), but where you're already penalized and in need of a manual reconsideration, I'd just get as close to what Google wants as possible.

I think if you're hit by the Penguin update then Google has already deemed you have bad/unnatural links pointing to your site to game rankings. The first step is to identify those links. Then you can start thinking about getting them removed or using the disavow tool to disavow them.
I don't think replacing the anchor text with image will help at all. You might be even harming yourself by removing legit links.

I Will recommend you to change your anchor text links to the image links. After Penguin you cannot build anchor text backlinks so do it with images..
Perfect example is Wooecommerce website they have alot of image backlinks and they are sitting on top spots.

Does an external link to an image file on my site help my SEO?
I found a few websites that are displaying images from my site. Curiously, they have also linked these images to the source image file on my website. I found these because Moz showed these sites in my list of backlinks. I assume that means it impacts my Domain Authority. Should you "rel=nofollow" picture links if you also have anchor text going to same page?
On our pages we are having icons that link to different pages. In order to make it more user friendly we are also having some anchor text that also link to the same page as the icon. Is it bad to have two links pointing at the same page. We have multiple icons on the homepage and don't want to pass double of the link power! Thanks!!

Embedding an image from another site
I have developed some micro-sites for a client. The micro-sites are on their own root domain and are only associated, through links, with the client's main site. The client just added an infographic to their site and I want to embed it on the micro-sites. If I am going to embed the image on all the micro-sites that were developed do I need to use a rel canonical tag so it is not seen as duplicate content?

Anchor text for deep links?

I was wondering if anybody had some advice on what to do for deep link anchor text in the post penguin world? For the homepage, I am going with almost exclusively branded text with only small variations once in a while. For the deep links I was thinking of doing a mix of branded text with some additional text such as: "My Brand Name" + Red or "My Brand Name" + Blue Does anybody know if this is the best way to go, or is there any other advice? Recovery from Penguin removing internal urls permanently replace with new
Since I was hit with Penguin back in April, but with this last update Oct. 5th I did see a very slight recovery, I was thinking about dumping some of my old URL's which contain backlinks which I can't get removed that seem spammy. I was thinking of keeping the page intact but replace with an entirely new URL and NOT 301 redirect. So basically starting over with that URL that way the backlinks points to a dead url. Any thoughts?
