PPC - Fixing the campaign so ads always rank in positions 1 - 3
-
Hi everyone,
I have more of a SEO background than a PPC one so excuse me if this question seems simple. I have inherited a Google Adwords campaign and want to accomplish the following
Fix the campaign so the ads only appear in positions 1 – 3. The campaign came with a relatively good structure.
Is there some way I can fix the settings to accomplish this? Conversion rates are high but quality scores vary from 6 -10
Thanks

Hi Andy,
Unfortunately I do not use any 3rd party software programs. Thanks for the tip on positions 4 -10. I will look at the conversion rates before moving the ads up. What do you consider an acceptable overall quality score for an ad group?
Thanks
Carla

Hi
You have found the way using the Adwords interface. However are you just using the Adwords interface or have you got any other third party software like Double click etc.
Its very simple in software like that, you can add rules to say if not in position 1 -3 increase bids by 'x'% or x amount (I always go with a % increase personally).
I would check the ones you are pausing as sometimes being in position 4 - 10 on certain keywords actually convert quite well. I have one keyword that performs best in position 5 (I don't know why and can't explain it, but I am not going to change it).

And I know the links are not followed. I'm not trying to get exposure, it's just easier to let you see the video and the bullet points we touch on then type it all here from my mobile. Let me know if this helps! If you need more, I also can get our main PPC manager to chime in and help.

We touch on this briefly on our page. There is also a video that may help you.

What's the best call tracking system to use for PPC & subsequent landing pages?
Client has about 30 locations. Not planning to get too fancy (i.e. like putting JS on the page so that a dynamically generated phone is displayed to track keywords). At this point, just we only want to see if PPC is providing telephone conversions. I've used Mongoose Metrics before and it seemed good. However, I don't want to go with something simply because it's what I already know. Would love to know some of your favourites and if there are better options. Also - client is in Canada. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Best way to automize generation of google ads - API, scripts etc.
I am in the process of setting up a fresh adwords account for a recently launched ecommerce site with about 3000 products and would like to automize the generation of the ads based on a spreadsheet of our product database. I would like to have full control over the code to generate these ads and a programmer with knowledge in SOAP and javscript would be availlable to assist in implementation. Any recommendations? Would you use adwords API or rather adword scripts?

Bing Ads Quality Score
Hi Mozzers, We've just imported (around two weeks ago) our Adwords into Bing and are just evaluating it. Pretty much across the board, but especially our best performing Ad Groups are showing up with abysmal quality scores. Case in point: our best ad group has mostly 10s, two 9s and one 7 in Adwords, yet nothing over 3 in Bing. Specifically landing page relevance is rated poor, keyword relevance and landing page experience as "no problem". So, what specifically is Bing looking for on landing page relevance that's dramatically different to Adwords? The Bing help references a blog post of 2 years ago suggesting increasing keyword count - yet the pages do well in organic search and adding more keywords to the copy will start to look artificial and stuffed, so I'm very reluctant to start there! Any pointers?

Does sitewide SEO affect PPC Quality Score?
When evaluating a PPC landing page for Quality Score, does Google evaluate the other pages that the landing page is linked to? For example, if we have a well optimized page on the site for "Widgets", can it outscore a well optimized PPC landing page that is isolated in a "disallow" directory with no links into or out of the page? I'm not sure if I am making myself clear...

Adding nyc to a keyword in Google Adwords
Hello. If I have a keyword in Google Adwords that is using phrase match ("keyword"), could it be useful to add the keyword phrase "keyword nyc"? Even if I did not add the second keyword phrase, my ad would be triggered if someone searched for "keyword nyc." So would it be redundant to add the second keyword phrase? Thank you!

What is the best way to get a good cpc estimate other than actually running the campaign? I have had several people asking for budgets and wasn't sure how to answer. Any suggestions?
