Too many on page links for WP blog page
-
Hello,
I have set my WP blog to a page so new posts go to that page making it the blog. On a SEOmoz campaign crawl, it says there are too many links on one page, so does this mean that as I am posting my blog posts to this page, the search engines are seeing the page as one page with links instead of the blog posts?
I worry that if I continue to add more posts (which obviously I want to) the links will increase more and more, meaning that they will be discounted due to too many links.
What can I do to rectify this?
Many thanks in advance

Ah ok I get it...sorry I am a little slow!
Thanks for your help and I will appy that method to remove the cat. links.

No, there are indeed over 100 <a>tags on the page. I guess I wasn't very clear... sorry for the confusion.</a>
<a>You have 10 blog post summaries listed on the page. Each post summary has a few links plus there are many other nav links on the page, bringing you up over the 100 mark. If you keep adding posts that count should stay roughly the same....when you add more posts the older ones are automatically pushed through to Older Posts, keeping the 10 latest summaries on that page.</a>
<a>As I mentioned earlier, one method to reduce the</a> <a>tag count on the page would be to remove the category links. They don't seem necessary since you are only using the one blog category.</a>

On the SEOmoz crawl, it says that the blog category has 106 links on it so I assumed that was becuaes of the page the posts are harvested on? Is that wrong as if its only 10 or so I can handle that!
-
How many posts do you want to have on a page? If your count is around 10 you should be in good shape.... and you can control how many of these posts appear on your first (summary) page. It looks like you're at 10 now; any additional posts are viewed through your "view older posts" at the bottom.
Agreed though, if you're showing 15+ post starts on your list then you'll certainly be over in link count.

Ok thanks, that sounds like a good idea. My worry is though, that as I develop the blog and add more posts, this time next year for example I will surely have at least double the amount of links? I dont see any way round it really just because I am using the page to harvest the posts?

You have 10 stubs on the page ... that's a decent number and will keep your page's link count reasonable.
What about the idea of removing the "Filed under BLOG" links? If you're just running the single blog category, you wouldn't really need the links. That will save you 10 links right off the bat that can be reserved for links in the short descriptions.
The 100 link limit is a good rule of thumb, but you shouldn't be penalized if you're going a little over.

Good idea...sorry! Its here.
Thanks

How to safely syndicate blog posts in LinkedIn Company page
We currently post our new blog post on our company profile (in Linkedin) immediately after publishing on our company blog. Is this running the risk of duplicate content? My colleague pastes the new posts URL into (I've given an example using my own site - ironically about Panda)! Does this run the risk of creating duplicate content? I've tried searching for indexed pages in Google for past posts and only find the originals (no URLs for the LinkedIn domain). I've got a bit confused about the whole subject having read Neil Patel's excellent article on "...syndicating content without screwing up you seo"! Thank you 🙂 10FpxLP 10FpxLP

How can I stop a tracking link from being indexed while still passing link equity?
I have a marketing campaign landing page and it uses a tracking URL to track clicks. The tracking links look something like this: http://this-is-the-origin-url.com/clkn/http/destination-url.com/ The problem is that Google is indexing these links as pages in the SERPs. Of course when they get indexed and then clicked, they show a 400 error because the /clkn/ link doesn't represent an actual page with content on it. The tracking link is set up to instantly 301 redirect to http://destination-url.com. Right now my dev team has blocked these links from crawlers by adding Disallow: /clkn/ in the robots.txt file, however, this blocks the flow of link equity to the destination page. How can I stop these links from being indexed without blocking the flow of link equity to the destination URL?

Is it possible to export Inbound Links in a CSV file categorized by Linking Root Domains ?
Hi, I am performing an analysis of the total inbound links to my homepage and I would like to have the total amount of inbound links categorized by the Linking root domains. For example, the Open Site explorer does offer the feature to show you the Linking Root Domains to your page. Then when you click on the first Linking Root Domain, it also shows you the Top Linking Pages ( Which means all the pages that link to your page from this particular top level domain) Now I would like to export this data to a CSV file, but open site explorer only exports the total amount of top level linking domains. Does anyone has a solution to this problem ? Thank you very much for the help in advance!

No confirmation page on Google's Disavow links tool?
I've been going through and doing some spring cleaning on some spammy links to my site. I used Google's Disavow links tool, but after I submit my text file, nothing happens. Should I be getting some sort of confirmation page? After I upload my file, I don't get any notifications telling me Google has received my file or anything like that. It just takes me back to this page: http://cl.ly/image/0S320q46321R/Image 2013-04-26 at 11.15.25 AM.png Am I doing something wrong or is this what everyone else is seeing too?

Can I use canonical tags to merge property map pages and availability pages to their counterpart overview pages?
I have a property website, for each property are 4-5 tabs each with their own URL, these pages include the overview page which is content rich, and auxilliary pages such as maps, availability, can I use a canonical tag to merge the tabs with very little content to their corresponding overview page which is content rich? I.e. www.mywebsite.co.uk/property-1/overview This page has tabs for map, town info, availability which all have their own url i.e. www.mywebsite.co.uk/property-1/map

www.mywebsite.co.uk/property-1/availability
www.mywebsite.co.uk/property-1/towninfo Because these auxilary pages do not contain much content can I place a canonical tag in them pointing back to the content rich overview page at www.mywebsite.co.uk/property-1/overview?0
