Keywords, when are you overdoing it in the URL?
-
Hi guys,
I'm auditing a site covering compensation for cancer.
Keywords could include:
- Undiagnosed cancer 20
- cancer compensation 10
- undiagnosed cancer symptoms 10
- cancer misdiagnosis claims 20
- cancer claims 10
- misdiagnosis of cancer 50
- cancer misdiagnosis 70
So, when structuring the URL for the category, this was previously selected:
Although sub-pages appear like this:
'Cancer misdiagnosis' as a keyword attracts the most traffic, but if we're using it on sub-pages - is there a need to include it twice on all sub-page URLs?
With that in mind, would it be better to follow the following format?
- www.site.co.uk/medical-negligence/cancer-compensation/breast-cancer-misdiagnosis-claim/
Or is there a better way to structure this?
Thanks in advance guys!

I would not recommend changing URL structure unless you have a very good reason to do so. Worrying about kw density on a decently readable, nice URL should not be reason to recommend a total URL rewrite.

The keywords should be located as close to the domain.
Ideally remove URL category to leave the "clean" URL.Good luck ...

Changing URLs for SEO
Hi, Currently we have a page, /business, but we have shifted our strategy to optimize for this page for the keyword "enterprise" instead of "business". The page authority of this page is 18 and our domain authority is 35. I've already updated content and title tags to more of an enterprise focus. Would it be wise to move the page to /enterprise and create a 301 redirect from /business to /enterprise? Or is this too risky from an SEO standpoint? Thanks!

Example: www.example.com/poker-face I want to change this www.example.com/poker-faces Should I create a new page and make the old one 301? Does 301 pass all the link juice in the new page or do i have to make a rel=canonical also ?

Webmaster tools...URL Errors
Hi mozzers, Quick question. Whats the best thing to do about URL errors in webmaster tools. They are all 404s that point from external sites. Many of them are junk spam sites. Should I mark them as "fixed" or just leave them. I'm hoping google is aware it's out of my control if spam sites want to link to 404s on my site. Peter

Keyword targeting by page, site, or both?
Hi, We recently discovered that a product we sell has a misnomer, and that a ton of people take to Google and use variations of that misnomer while trying to find us. Unfortunately we don't rank in Google for this keyword, and its costing us thousands in lost sales. I've been slowly building the misnomer into the content of our site in hopes that the spiders will pick up on it. It has started to work in the last couple weeks, but we're nowhere near the top (and we are #1 and #2 for most of our other prime keywords.) The site which sells the product is specialized, and only sells this specific product (in different models, but they're all the same product essentially.) With that in mind, I'm trying to figure out the best way to attack a new keyword. I know that normally you would dedicate a specific page (in an eCommerce store probably that product's own page) to employ your SEO tactics. However, because this site specializes in this product and offers different models and information about it I'm confused about the best approach. Does Google take into consideration the entire site a s whole, or are the pages within my site competing against each other for rank?
