Product Code Error in Volusion
-
I started working with about 800+ 404 errors in September after we migrated our site to Volusion 13. There is a recurring 404 error that I can't trace inside of our source code or in our Sitemap. I don't know what is causing this error so I have no way of knowing how to fix it. Tech support at Volusion has been less than helpful so any feed back would be appreciated.

The error is seemingly starting with the product code. The addendum at the end of the URL "p/" should be followed by the product code. In this example, 6438. Instead, the code is being automatically populated with %7B1%7D
Has anyone else this issue with Volusion or does this look familiar across any other platform?

It was an error in the product URL field in the global settings. I believe they are in maintenance. We moved to big commerce a little while ago so I can't go back to the Volusion store. I know it was in the global settings field, I just don't remember how to get there.

Monica, we have some similar errors showing up on our Volusion pages as well. I know this is an old thread, but do you happen to remember what you did to resolve this?

Haha! Turns out the error was in the page text in the site content in Volusion. Thanks to our awesome SEO consultant we were able to get this straightened out yesterday. Whew!

Increase in Crawl Errors
I had a problem with a lot of crawl errors (on Google Search Console) a while back, due to the removal of a shopping cart. I thought I'd dealt with this & Google seemed to agree (see attached pic), but now they're all back with a vengeance! The crawl errors are all the old shop pages that I thought I'd made clear weren't there anymore. The sitemaps (using Yoast on Wordpress to generate these) all updated 16 Aug but the increase didn't happen till 18-20. How do I make it clear to Google that these pages are gone forever? URL Structure for Product Pages
Hi Moz Community. I'm in need of some URL structure advice for product pages. We currently have ~4,000+ products and I'm trying to determine whether I need a new URL structure from the previous site owners. There are two current product URL structures that exist in our website: 1.http://www.example.com/bracelets/gold-bracelets/1-1-10-ct-diamond-tw-slip-on-bangle-14k-pink-gold-gh-i1-i2/ (old URL structure)

2. http://www.example.com/gemstone-bracelet-prd-bcy-121189/ (new URL structure) The problem is that half of our products are still in the old structure (no one moved them forward), but at the same time I'm not sure if the new structure is optimized as much as possible. Every single gemstone bracelet, or whatever product will have the same url structure, only being unique with the product number at the end. Would it be better to change everything over to more product specific URLS. I.e. example.com/topaz-gemstone-dangle-bracelet. Thanks for your help!

Google Plus Places Error
We have a large amount of clients and when we are updating their Google Plus Places listing, the ad is still presented as active, however it is not live on Google and when you click to view the listing we get this message 'We currently do not support this location' I have researched this and found many people are having this issue, but no solutions as of yet. Can anyone shed some light on to this because some of our clients are not thrilled at the moment. Thanks Jon

I have 404 errors but can't find where these links are?
The 4xx report had 0 errors, and then on the recent crawl it found over 200. They are all variations on real URLs e.g.: Real URL: http://www.bullseyeuk.com/10-up-deluxe-literature-holder.html 404 Error URL: http://www.bullseyeuk.com/10-up-deluxe-literature-holder.html None of them are linked to the root domain and I can't find where they are coming from. Any ideas? Thanks Jack

How do I add a blog to a subdirectory of a volusion store?
Based on what I've read so far, the best blog URL for SEO purposes is a subfolder (www.example.com/blog) rather than a subdomain (blog.example.com). I am having a lot of trouble adding a blog to our e-commerce store which is hosted by volusion. I have looked into installing Wordpress into a subdirectory but apparently Volusion does not allow the mysql/myphpadmin/database access needed to successfully do this. I have also looked into trying to publish my blog through ftp using Blogger, but they stopped allowing this a while ago. Does anyone know a way to add a blog to my volusion store's subdirectory? Thanks
