Missing Meta Description in Pop Up Image Gallery URL
-
Hi there,
Moz has reported that I have a lot of missing meta description in the Pop Up Image Gallery. There are over 150 of these that are missing. The issue is that in our CMS I cannot add meta description to images. I am also not entirely sure why the images I am loading up are generating their own URL like the one below. Possibly that is why Moz is saying it needs a meta description when it is only an image?.
An example of the link that has missing meta description that I can't add would be something like this: http://www.domianhere.com/products/PopUpImageGallery/93/1?iframe=true
When clicking these links it is purely an image with no text. So basically I am asking how do you add a meta description to a Pop Up image Gallery photo URL and/or possibly why would an image create a custom URL so I have to put in a Meta Description?
Hopefully that makes sense, thank you in advance for your help - much appreciated!

Hey there
Since you are using a CMS just about everything will show up as a page…especially if you are using WordPress. I would suggest disallowing the indexing of these pages. Even if you were able to get meta description tags in there, they wouldn't do anything for your SEO since they are just one image on a page.
If you are using WordPress, there is a setting in the backend that stops the indexing of media pages. That will stop this problem you are having.
Hope that helps!

WWW used in research URL, or not to WWW
Long time user, infrequent poster.... thanks for taking my question... When I go to gather a series of data elements on a company's URL, the data changes (sometime dramatically) depending on whether the 'www.' is added to the URL & it seems related more to Page data than Domain. My question is about which data I should be using to assess the real strength of the site / page? Is there a 'best practice' question here, a personal preference or is there an actual difference in the performance of the www vs the non-www version? aquGYdz

Crawlers reporting upper case letter url versions although these have been 301'd to lower case !?
Hi I have a client e-com site who's dev platform is on a windows server Their product pages have been auto-named after the product title, with the first letter in each word being upper case, which has hence translated to the URL having upper cases instances too. I asked them to set up 301 redirects for all url's that had upper case instances to lower case versions, which they say they have done. However I'm still seeing url's with upper case instances showing up in webmaster tools and moz crawl reports but when I copy & paste them into a browser they do redirect to, & resolve in, the lower case version. Its also upper case versions reported in the Google cache! So how come webmaster tools & Moz etc are reporting the upper case versions, surely if redirected it should be the lower case versions All Best Dan

Question
I have set up my htaccess file to rewrite "Various URL Structure" to www.mydomain.co.uk. However when i view metrics in Majestic SEO, the url / Subdomain / Root Domain all differ. Why is this happening?
Is this harming my site?
What is common practice when defining URL Structure? Any other quality advise and implementation structure would be much appreciated. Regards Mark0 -

URLs getting re-directed to double http:// URLs
The "Notices" section under "Crawl Diagnostics" shows that there are 435 issues on my website. I checked out a few URLs to verify this issue and found that most of these pages are working perfectly. For instance, the above mentioned report shows that http://policycomplaints.com/about redirects to http://http://policycomplaints.com/about/ . Then, http://policycomplaints.com/aegon-religare/mis-selling-of-policy-by-aegon-religare/ redirects to http://http://policycomplaints.com/aegon-religare/mis-selling-of-policy-by-aegon-religare/ . However, when I open these pages, they seem to be working perfectly. I didn't find them getting re-directed to somewhere else. So, as per the report, it seems that all of these 435 http://URLs are getting re-directed to http://http://URL versions which in reality is not true because all the http://URLs are working perfectly. So, is this a problem with SEOmoz software? If not, what is the reason for these issues and how can I adddress them. Do notify if any further information is required for the same. Thanks. bNiEm.png

Duplicate page titles are the same URL listed twice
The system says I have two duplicate page titles. The page titles are exactly the same because the two URLs are exactly the same. These same two identical URLs show up in the Duplicate Page Content also - because they are the same. We also have a blog and there are two tag pags showing identical content - I have blocked the blog in robots.txt now, because the blog is only for writers. I suppose I could have just blocked the tags pages.
