Google keeps updating/tweaking my Local business branch addresses ? to whats different in my citations and on page. how can I stop it?
-
Hi All,
I have a number of branches as we have separate branch pages and separate google local listings for these. I have been trying to keep them in consistent for citation purposes but google keeps trying to tweak the address in the local listings.
Sometimes for example , google is trying to remove the premises number from the Road e.g 78 Doncaster Road is the actual branch address but google local business wants it as Doncaster Road,
I also see Google is wanting to sometimes remove the locality name etc?..
Also If the local listing has a county ( in America - you would have State) , google is sometimes wanting to remove this add United Kingdom in Country instead ?.
Is this a problem and how to deal with it as I think this is obviously impacting my local rankings?.
If i approve all these changes then do I need update all my citations and page addresses all the time ?
Or can I just leave the suggested "Update" or overwrite googles suggestion with what I had originally.
Does anyone else have this problem ?
thanks
pete

Hi Peter,
This may be one of those things where you'll need to hire a Local SEO to do an audit, but very generally, this sounds to me like you may have citation consistency issues that are causing Google to make edits to your data based on bad data they are finding on third party sources. So, if for example, your client is located at 23 Hello Street, and for some reason, Google keeps changing this to 21 Hello Street, chances are strong that there are bad references out there to your business being at 21 Hello Street. So, the first step I'd suggest is a complete citation audit to discover if there are existing references to the bad data and then correcting these at the source so that the good data supports Google's correct understanding of your location.

Mapping the Google My Business locations I manage?
Is there a way to see all of the business locations I manage on a map, so it's easy to visualize and check? Like a Google Custom map, but I don't want to create a custom map because then I'd be updating information in two places. I thought this would be a built-in feature of Google My Business but I can't seem to find any information about this. Thanks! -Ryan

Google map listing #2
My website ranks well locally and nationally, but shortly I will be adding a second site to my business. We will be ranking it for different key words but the same location. My question is, is it possible to verify another google + & google maps listing for this site? And, what does google think about having two sites for the same business? Huge thanks in advance for any answers 🙂

Unique Local Citation Descriptions?
Hello! As SEO’s we have always understood that it’s best practice to craft a number of unique descriptions when submitting to local directories, rather than using one generic description across all directories. However, if we look at this logically; An average business owner (even if Google didn't exist) wouldn't bother to vary descriptions. They would have a generic brand template and simply submit the same description to each directory. What do you think? Is having unique descriptions a MUST for Local Business Citations, or is it ok to use one generic one? I look forward to hearing your thoughts, Lee.

Yahoo Local
Hello, I'm wondering how to add a business to Yahoo Local. I've tried searching for the URL to add it, but keep getting redirected to https://www.aabacosmallbusiness.com/advisor . Has Yahoo outsourced their business listings, or am I just not finding the page I'm looking for? Shauna

What are your experiences using the new Google Local Descriptor feature?
I'm looking for any insight from those who have used the Descriptor feature on your Places listings. Has it helped in any way? Caused issues? My issues with this feature are described in this question I posted the other day. But I haven't tried using the feature yet, and I'm hoping to learn from some of you who have.

How can I go beyond the results in the google pack
Hi All: I have a quick question. If you google "plumber" in San Francisco, you get about six options in the pack. After that the results go into very general topics about plumbers. Is there a search method that will allow me to see all of the plumbers in this city 700,000, not just the six Google chose?

Bing Places for Business - Worth It?
Hey Fellow Mozzers, I am trying to determine if Bing Places for Business is worth the time and effort it takes to create listings. My business has 900 locations, and would take some time to create the bulk upload file to load into the Bing Places for Business dashboard. My question is, since Bing already does a good job of creating business listings using data from 3rd party sources such as Yelp and Citysearch, where I already have a strong presence for each of my locations, is there any value in overriding the automatically created business page for each of my location with information that I upload?
