our site has complete redesign including site architecture, page url and page content (except domain). It looks like a new site. The old site has been indexed about thirty thousand results by google. now what should i do first?
-
If you have 301 redirects of every page in place as the new design is uploaded then the traffic that comes in through the old URLs will be moved by your server to the new URLs. Also, search engines will follow links to the old URLs and give the new URLs most of the linkvalue.
If you don't use 301s on a page then any person who clicks a link to your site on another domain or in a search engine will not see the new page. They could see the old page if you did not remove it or an error if you removed it.
-
yes, i did 301 redirects for part of the pages. how to move the pages that have been indexed. is it necessary to do 301 redirects for all the pages?
-
You say that you changed your page URLs. Did you do 301 redirects for every page that has links or was generating valuable traffic?

Sudden traffic down after mobile site
Hi to all. I have a huge problem about my web site traffic. We published our mobile site version under mobile domain in m.etilercerrental.com. And we published mobile site sitemap under main site such as sitemap-mobile.xml and notify google from webmaster tools. After a while whole site traffic gone down so badly. Almost 60% gone down which doesnt make sense. Mobile sitemap is hosted under desktop site. And we didnt add any link to switch sites between mobile and desktop version. We automaticly redirect between desktop and mobile versiyons by detecting useragent. One another this is we have announcement section in dekstop version but we dont have it in mobile. But we are not making any redirection to mobile site when user visits the announcement section even by mobile phone. Because we are not displaying it in mobile version.

One last this is we are making redirections automatically and not asking user preference such as showing a link in the bottom of page to switch sites betwenn mobile and pc version. While developing mobile site we followed instructions in this https://developers.google.com/webmasters/smartphone-sites/?hl=tr For find the details I would like to give you some site urls. Site Url : http://www.etilercarrental.com/
Sitemap Xml : http://www.etilercarrental.com/sitemap.xml
Mobile Sitemap Xml : http://www.etilercarrental.com/sitemap-mobile.xml0 -
2 sites versus a subdomain: Which is better?
I have a client that sponsors a couple of events during the year. They currently have pages within a single website for these events but are interested in creating a separate website so they can brand the events differently. I'm not sure this is the most effective way to do it for fear of losing the "google juice" already there for these pages. Here's what I'm thinking is a better strategy: 1) Host the content both on the main domain and the sub-domain2) Make sure there is a tag on each page of the sub-domain version that points to the main version. That will give them the branding they are seeking while pushing all juice across to the main domain. What are your thoughts?

Mobile site domain authority
Hello, I think this may be a coding issue, but hoping someone can help me. I am still having issues with our mobile site ranking, even though we created redirects/canonical to identify similar content between desktop version and mobile. I did notice through MOZ analysis of backlinks that we have no domain authority. If the mobile site is automatically detected dependent on the user, shouldn't we also have the same domain authority? How does that work exactly? How can we build up the domain authority for our mobile site? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Site links show spam
Hi folks, I'm working on a website that runs on WordPress and was not updated by the owner, this has resulted in a malware injection and now when you search the companies name in Google, the site links appear with words like Viagra, et al. I've seen this a number of times, so I went through the code and have removed all the malware. I presume I now have to wait for Google to recrawl the website and update the site links? Is there anything else I should be doing to speed up the process? Thank you 🙂

Quoting From Another Part of Your Site
Suppose that you wrote an awesome piece of content and want to feature short segments of that content on your product pages. Is there any risk (such as duplicate content problems) to quoting a paragraph from another page of your site?

Site maps, Is there any benefit?
I have a relatively simple and small site (60 pages). All of it is crawlable and there is nothing I want non follow. So, is there any real benefit to a sitemap since Google can get to all the site anyway? Do they give the site more credence or something because it's there? I guess as an aside, are there any favorite sites that will generate a site map? Thanks!
