Inbound external links
-
Hi I have a question about inbound external links
The good news is that I have 135 inbound links showing up in open site explorer, where my main competitor has 4
The bad news is that these are not the links that I have been building myself.
The links are sometimes in a foreign language, rarely in an entertainment category, which my website is, and there seems no way to add a link on the page.
I did buy some links when I first started out, but I was advised not to do it again
But these are clearly working despite their apparent lack of value
Then the question is where are my web directory listings, social bookmarks, social media content and web 2.0 articles, and the links I found my competitor had, that I was able to add my own website on, I have manually grafted for these links, have I been wasting my time with all of these?.

Ah thank you the webmaster tools list reads much more healthier, so that's good.
The link I was talking about was in the hotfrog directory, in the correct category, with photos and video too, and lots of unique text I wrote about my products and services and it shows up in webmaster tools too
thanks for answering

Hi!
OSE doesn't show them because it hasn't indexed those yet for your site. You can check them in your webmaster tools. They are probably there.
They dont have to show in OSE to mean that the link is there so dont worry about it.
Anyway, you still need to check the quality of the link. It doesnt always mean that if your competitor has it, then you need to have it as well so do take care with those links.

Just because you are ranking does not mean it is due to the links you bought, there are many factors that go into why your site will rank, not just links. If those links are spammy you will want to have them removed, either by contacting the sites (first thing) or if that does not work using Google's disavow tool.
You should keep up your content development and gaining links by providing quality moving forward. If you focus on having content worth linking to, you will find that links come naturally and people are more prone to come to your site as they see the value of the content you are providing.

Why are my month old links not showing in WMT or OSE?
Hey Everyone! I've been working hard on boosting my ranking after launching my new site 2 months ago. I realize that this process normally takes some time however I've come across a questions that I'm not sure I know that answer to... I had some really solid back links added about a month ago but nothing is showing up yet in WMT on them. When I run an OSE I don't see any links there (not even under newly discovered). Can someone please help with some insight on why they might now be showing. Is it just a time thing or should I be doing something different?Any insight will be very helpful. Thanks

When will links appear
When will links appear? Hi I submitted one of our products to a range of beauty bloggers and all of the reviews came back, really positive, along with links to our site. However when I run a back link report in open site explorer only one of these links is showing up even though the links all went live at about the same time. Can any one explain this in discrepancy?

Why would opensite explorer show a link from baidu result page with baidu as a linking root domain?
I found an old domain that has very high domain authority and one of its top linking root domains is baidu I clicked the link in ose and it took me to a baidu serp????? please explain...im happy to clarify if need be or give you the site in question just let me know what you think. I checked ose for the page authority of the serp page it was 50. would that page be helping the site in question to rank? or am I just dumb for asking this question One more thing I couldnt actually find a link to the page I was looking at in ose on the baidu result page.. thanks

Where is the best place to add links on my site?
If I'd like to put links to other sites in my site, is it better to have a page named "Our Helpful Links" etc. instead of just adding them to the bottom of an existing page like I've seen on some sites? I'm asking because I'm wanting to make Google as happy as possible and still add them. Just in case it helps to look at the site yourself to give advise its; http://www.allstatetransmission.net If you see anything else there that I should work on feel free to be hard on it, I value any criticism. Thanks, Jeff

SEOmoz API - Links and Anchor Text Calls
Hi, I'm testing out the SEOmoz API - however I'm stuggling to understand the use of the Cols parameter within the "anchor-text" method. I've looped through increasing numbers of "Cols" for a standard query and there just seems to be no logical pattern.

** - Could someone please enlighten me as to how this works?** E.g. of results for query: http://lsapi.seomoz.com/linkscape/anchor-text/www.seomoz.org/?Scope=term_to_page&Sort=domains_linking_page&Cols=1 1Array ( [0] => Array ( [aturid] => 86128451138 ) [1] => Array ( [aturid] => 86128451144 ) [2] => Array ( [aturid] => 86128451131 ) ) 2Array ( [0] => Array ( [atut] => seomoz ) [1] => Array ( [atut] => seomoz.org ) [2] => Array ( [atut] => seo ) ) 3Array ( [0] => Array ( [aturid] => 86128451138 [atut] => seomoz ) [1] => Array ( [aturid] => 86128451144 [atut] => seomoz.org ) [2] => Array ( [aturid] => 86128451131 [atut] => seo ) ) 4Array ( [0] => Array ( [atui] => 38845159274 ) [1] => Array ( [atui] => 38845159274 ) [2] => Array ( [atui] => 38845159274 ) ) 5Array ( [0] => Array ( [atui] => 38845159274 [aturid] => 86128451138 ) [1] => Array ( [atui] => 38845159274 [aturid] => 86128451144 ) [2] => Array ( [atui] => 38845159274 [aturid] => 86128451131 ) ) 6Array ( [0] => Array ( [atui] => 38845159274 [atut] => seomoz ) [1] => Array ( [atui] => 38845159274 [atut] => seomoz.org ) [2] => Array ( [atui] => 38845159274 [atut] => seo ) ) 7Array ( [0] => Array ( [atui] => 38845159274 [aturid] => 86128451138 [atut] => seomoz ) [1] => Array ( [atui] => 38845159274 [aturid] => 86128451144 [atut] => seomoz.org ) [2] => Array ( [atui] => 38845159274 [aturid] => 86128451131 [atut] => seo ) ) 8Array ( [0] => Array ( [atuiu] => 1 ) [1] => Array ( [atuiu] => 1 ) [2] => Array ( [atuiu] => 0 ) ) 9Array ( [0] => Array ( [atuiu] => 1 [aturid] => 86128451138 ) [1] => Array ( [atuiu] => 1 [aturid] => 86128451144 ) [2] => Array ( [atuiu] => 0 [aturid] => 86128451131 ) ) 10Array ( [0] => Array ( [atuiu] => 1 [atut] => seomoz ) [1] => Array ( [atuiu] => 1 [atut] => seomoz.org ) [2] => Array ( [atuiu] => 0 [atut] => seo ) ) Links API: Similar confusion here for:
"TargetCols"
"SourceCols"
"LinkCols" The description here http://apiwiki.seomoz.org/w/page/13991141/Links API - is a bit vague It appears that the links API spits out everything anyway - that one's less of an issue. So... could anyone explain how the Anchor-text API parameter Cols works?? Cheers!0
