Duplicate Blog pages across different domains

Hey Moz Community,
I have 3 Duplicate websites which more or less contain the same blog article ( they are copy & paste from the original website ). I am now in the process of changing my duplicate websites and I stumbled upon this problem: if I have to change the content for all the duplicate articles I have across my different domains it would be a very time consuming task and on the other hand I don't want to no index, follow the duplicate articles because I want to use them for SEO purposes. Should I only change the articles that brought significant traffic and no index, follow the rest ?
What do you think ?

Hi Andrei,
I wholeheartedly agree with Ryan on this. When you say you have "3 separate blogs for 3 separate domains which are more or less identical", do you mean that the entire domains are nearly identical (which would be the case if these domains all stand-alone blogs.) Or is the content on each domain unique, with the exception of the blog? Let us know, thanks!

Duplicate content isn't supposed to have an SEO benefit. Thats why you're supposed to use rel canonical so your users visiting one blog can read the article as a usability feature while the search engines wan to know which one to rank. They're not interested in ranking all three of your identical articles. From their perspective it's a negative not a positive.

@TheZenAgency Basically I have 3 separate blogs for 3 separate domains which are more or less identical. Whenever I wrote an article I simply copy & paste on my other blogs, makes sense now ?
@Ryan I want to clean up the duplicate articles, but my dilemma is whether I should only change the content for the blog posts that brought me some traffic and simply use noindex/follow for my other articles in order to avoid a time consuming process. I was wondering if this would be the right approach in order to avoid a huge workload and at the same time keep the SEO benefits of the good articles ? What do you think Ryan ?

HI Anddrei. You'll definitely want to clean up the duplicate content either through rewrites or noindex / follow along with canonical tags on the one post that you do keep with the others pointing to that page as the canonical version.
Lastly, mentally don't plan on the duplicate content adding any SEO boost as distributing the exact same article across a variety of networks either through something like the old style of press releases or through domains you own is considered manipulative by the engines. Cheers!

Page Layout Updates and Mobile Pages with Ads
I have been trying to do some research on the Page Layout Algorithm and Top Heavy Ads and much of what I read does not mention about mobile pages as apposed to desktop. I am curious if the Page Layout updates can be effected by mobile pages as well and if there is any good articles on this subject. Why do I have 2 different URL's for the same page - is this good practice?

Will Google penalise me for duplicating my own website on a new domain?
Hi guys, Currently, we are using Magento Enterprise to run two separate ecommerce websites, for arguments sake lets say these two websites are ElectronicsX.com and electronicsY.co.uk. ElectronicsX.com isn't doing too well, it has little traffic, makes next to nothing each month and is just a waste of resources. ElectronicsY.co.uk on the other hand is getting 30,000 unique visits every month and is over exceeding every month in terms of revenue in sales. At the moment, the only traffic we get from Europe tends to be the odd "word of mouth" customer and English customers who have emigrated to Europe but still like to use English companies. We can't rank on Google FR or ES or anything like that because the website we have "electronicsY" is on a .co.uk TLD (a GeoTLD). So what we want to do is take ALL the content from electronicsY.co.uk and place it on electronicsX.com so that we can start targeting Europe and ranking in the serps internationally. What sort of effect will that have in terms of penalisation from Google? Or because the websites are on the same C block, would it have any effect at all? Thanks guys Tom

301 to Intermediate Page then Rel=Canonical from Intermediate to target page
Hi I'm working on an eCommerce site and don't have direct access to the CMS. I had requested developers to provide me a facilty to 301 via htaccess however this is working slight differently. I need guidance from experts whether it's okay or not: Old Page: example.com/old Target New Page: example.com/new After Implementing the redirect, It redirects to an intermediate page or in other words, The same target URL with a question mark added: example.com/new? (notice the question mark in the new URL) This intermediate page has a canonical tag for the exact target URL. So, if I 301 redirect example.com/old to example.com/new? (Intermediate page) and If the intermediate page example.com/new? has a canonical tag for the exact target URL (example.com/new), Will I be able to pass the link juice and authority of old page to the new page?

How to fix Duplicate Page Title

If a site has https versions of every page, will the search engines view them as duplicate pages?
A client's site has HTTPS versions of every page for their site and it is possible to view both http and https versions of the page. Do the search engines view this as duplicate content?

What's the impact of # in the main domain page?
After a little research I did in the Source Code of the root domain page of seomoz.org and searchenginejournal.com , I found that the first one contains no at all and that the other contains like 10 . I though that the was something relatively important on a web page for on page optimisation. Did I missed something? What's you opinion on the subject? Thanks for your help!
