Ha, I understand your confusion. Heading tags (h1-h7) are not tags that go "in the header" surprisingly.
The H1 tag on your page is in the correct place and your dev is correct.
H1 tags are headings really, not headers. So they are headings for your content located within your content. As opposed to your website which has both header & footer code that essentially surround your content on every page.
If you're still confused on it, check this video. It shows it fairly clearly and better than I can in a text box. Hope it helps!

Can you index a Google doc?
We have updated and added completely new content to our state pages. Our old state content is sitting in a our Google drive. Can I make these public to get them indexed and provide a link back to our state pages? In theory it sounds like a great link building strategy... TIA!

Putting Dates In Title Tag
Hi, I have a site were I write previews for sports match ups. I notice when I don't put the date in the title I rank much better for specific keywords. I also noticed that most people don't really put in the date when they do the search anyways, especially since google does a good job of showing the most recent pages anyways. The only reason I continue to put the date is because of this whole idea of not having page titles that are duplicate. So many of our games will be Team A vs Team B Preview, and Im worried that the term "preview" will become so repetitive that google may not like it. Any tips or ideas on how to approach this issue best? Thanks!

Pixel tags impact on SEO?
I was asked by our IT if switching to a tag management company that removes the pixels from our site and is replaced by a javascript would have a negative impact on SEO. I have not been able to find anything that discusses this: Does anyone have experience with this? Has it caused any issues? Has it caused any issues? How do crawlers see pixel data, and what do they do with it?

Everything seems right, but the rankings are poor
Hi, I'm clueless at the moment and looking for some advice. I've got a site build on the Genesis framework for WordPress. So the basis of technical seo is fine, also robots.txt and sitemap are ok. The content is seo proof, the autority is better then a lot of the competitors. Still the site won't rank anywhere near where it 'should' be .. The strange thing is on one keyword the site ranks 1 in Bing and is not to be found on Google. There are no Google penalties, all the seo tools in the world say everything is OK ....., last week for one of the keywords there was a ranking on page 1, a few days later the site didn't show up at all. The only thing I can think of is that the domain hasn't always had a good reputation. According to some backlinks (all disavowed) there has been porn on it some 5-6 years ago. Before the domainname was acquired.

Open Data and SEO - Government sources
Hi Everyone, Does anyone know of a connection between open data and SEO? I think this is a very interesting topic to explore. Lots of governments are jumping on this trend and it seems like Google and other search engines would be interested in this kind of authoritative source. Here are some examples - USA OPEN Data examples Palo Alto, California USA: paloalto.opendata.junar.com Cupertino, California USA: cupertino.opendata.junar.com San Jose California USA: data.sanjoseca.gov Other international Open Data examples Chile: recursos.datos.gob.cl Bahía Blanca, Argentina: http://bahiablanca.opendata.junar.com/dashboards/7844/medio-ambiente/ Lima, Perú lima.datosabiertos.pe

What Does Penguin Recover Look Like?
Is a recovery from Penguin immediate once Google recognized that you've fixed the problem or is it a slow and steady recovery? I think we may have fixed our issue which is why we're seeing an immediate spike in traffic from Google organic search results. Our daily traffic was up more than 100% in a single day. Is this a recovery? At which speed have other sites you manage recovered? EoZJDZ2.png

Does an H1 have to be at the top of a page?
Because H1 "may" carry some weight with Google does it have to be placed at the top of the page? Can I place it towards the bottom of the page instead in normal body size? My goal is to keep the main keywords in the H1 but create a much friendlier title for the customer to read at the top of the page.
