Google W.M.T Missing Meta Title on AJax Pages... Weird!!
-
Hey Mozers,
I was looking through my Google Web Masters Tool under HTML Improvements. It looks like I have 2,200 pages missing Meta Titles and I was about to lose it thinking HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN! I came to realize that the pages were "Ajax Pages". This is specifically a checkprice pop up and I dont want this page crawled by google. It looks like to google I have over 2k pages missing Meta Titles and they are all "check price pop ups". How would you suggest I block this. I thought about going the easy route and removing the subfolder and putting it in the Robots.txt document and I'm scared of that because we use AJax for a bunch of calls. I'm also scared of putting in the head <metaname="robots" =="" noindex, nofollow"="">because it requires hard coding</metaname="robots">
I Know i'm not the first to come across this issue, Any Ideas??

Hi Rodrigo,
OK - so I was able to find the page functionality in question on your actual site just to double check what was going on.
Since this content isn't important to the page from an SEO standpoint, it makes sense to just remove these pages from the index.
To do that your best bet is probably robots.txt. Here's a good stackexchange with John Mueller confirming that.
I believe any one of the following entries can do the trick, but highly recommend you double check my work and test this before you implement it. This is also a good time for me to add a liability disclaimer if you accidentally noindex your whole site.
- Disallow: /AjaxPages/PopUp/CheckPrice
- Disallow: /AjaxPages/PopUp/CheckPrice.aspx
- Disallow: /CheckPrice
- (choose one of these, you don't need to use all of them)
Pretty sure Robots.txt is case sensitive, so /checkprice may not work.
There is also something called an X-Robots-Tag that could do this instead of your robots.txt file. Instructions on that at https://developers.google.com/webmasters/control-crawl-index/docs/robots_meta_tag?hl=en
Finally, consider testing this on your staging server before rolling it out live.

Hey Kane,
Thank you for answering. According to Webmaster tools There are over 2,200 of these Check price pop ups. They happen when a customer clicks on "Add to cart" which actives the ajax popup which asks the customer to enter a zip code to check the price.
The source code of this pop is very small I almost feel like there is no
** Example URL:**
I was thinking of putting "Disallow: /checkprice" under our robots.txt

Hey Rodrigo, some additional questions you try and help here.
- Are these the only files getting loaded within their subfolder?
- What do the price files look like? Full HTML file from to ? Just a section of code like a div?
- Why are the prices stored in static files? Are the prices in a database? Could this popup be accomplished with a single file template that loads a price from the database? If so, then the hard-coding problem becomes much simpler.
Feel free to share URLs if you are able, or DM them.
Also, if hard-coded, you'd want to use . There's no reason to use nofollow in the meta robots tag in the majority of cases.

Google Indexing Of Pages As HTTPS vs HTTP
We recently updated our site to be mobile optimized. As part of the update, we had also planned on adding SSL security to the site. However, we use an iframe on a lot of our site pages from a third party vendor for real estate listings and that iframe was not SSL friendly and the vendor does not have that solution yet. So, those iframes weren't displaying the content. As a result, we had to shift gears and go back to just being http and not the new https that we were hoping for. However, google seems to have indexed a lot of our pages as https and gives a security error to any visitors. The new site was launched about a week ago and there was code in the htaccess file that was pushing to www and https. I have fixed the htaccess file to no longer have https. My questions is will google "reindex" the site once it recognizes the new htaccess commands in the next couple weeks?

Google is indexing wrong page for search terms not on that page
I’m having a problem … the wrong page is indexing with Google, for search phrases “not on that page”. Explained … On a website I developed, I have four products. For example sake, we’ll say these four products are: Sneakers (search phrase: sneakers) Boots (search phrase: boots) Sandals (search phrase: sandals) High heels (search phrase: high heels) Error: What is going “wrong” is … When the search phrase “high heels” is indexed by Google, my “Sneakers” page is being indexed instead (and ranking very well, like #2). The page that SHOULD be indexing, is the “High heels” page (not the sneakers page – this is the wrong search phrase, and it’s not even on that product page – not in URL, not in H1 tags, not in title, not in page text – nowhere, except for in the top navigation link). Clue #1 … this same error is ALSO happening for my other search phrases, in exactly the same manner. i.e. … the search phrase “sandals” is ALSO resulting in my “Sneakers” page being indexed, by Google. Clue #2 … this error is NOT happening with Bing (the proper pages are correctly indexing with the proper search phrases, in Bing). Note 1: MOZ has given all my product pages an “A” ranking, for optimization. Note 2: This is a WordPress website. Note 3: I had recently migrated (3 months ago) most of this new website’s page content (but not the “Sneakers” page – this page is new) from an old, existing website (not mine), which had been indexing OK for these search phrases. Note 4: 301 redirects were used, for all of the OLD website pages, to the new website. I have tried everything I can think of to fix this, over a period of more than 30 days. Nothing has worked. I think the “clues” (it indexes properly in Bing) are useful, but I need help. Thoughts?

Old/wrong meta-titles in index
Hi, We have problems with old Meta titles in the index of google.nl. If you look for example at this wine: https://www.wijnvoordeel.nl/Italie/Just-Hugo::5460.html The Meta tile is: **Just Hugo | Heerlijke Hugo | Het zomerdrankje van 2014 | Wijnvoordeel ** If you look at the results in Google: https://www.google.nl/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#safe=active&q=just hugo The Meta tile is: Just Hugo - Wijnvoordeel(this is an old/automatic generated Meta tile). I already added the code "", but I don't see any progress. Does anybody knows what could be the problem? Thanks for the help! Douwe Veldstra

How long does it take for google to update title and metadata?
I updated my site's title and description about a week ago, however for some reason it's still not reflected in google search results. Here's my site and try searching for 'shopious directory'. Any idea why this is? I tried looking at webmaster tool and it seems that google didn't have any errors. Why is it still showing the old data?

Missing Title Tags on Include Files?
GWT is telling me 3 of my include files (Contact Form - Header - Footer) are missing a Title Tag. This has never happened to me before and don't know how to tackle it. On the other hand the warning refers to a subdirectory of my site to these respective include files… The main directory, with literally the same html structure and no Title, returns no errors. Any ideas as to why this error now? or how to fix it? Thanks,

Removing a Page From Google index
We accidentally generated some pages on our site that ended up getting indexed by google. We have corrected the issue on the site and we 404 all of those pages. Should we manually delete the extra pages from Google's index or should we just let Google figure out that they are 404'd? What the best practice here?
