How best to handle on-site blogs for multiple site views in Magento?

Hi,
I'm working with a site on Magento with views for UK, US and FR websites. Currently they have a French WordPress Blog that is pulled into the French site view and an English one that appears on both the US and UK views.
Of course the problem here is that the US and UK views are duplicating content so these needs sorting super-fast.
The plan is to disconnect the US view from the current English blog and create a dedicated US onsite blog. However, should we continue to use WordPress or instead use an alternative blog module or plugin for Magento?
Cost is an issue and running three separate blogs and the cost of plugging these into each site view. However, getting these right for SEO is the most important factor here. I'm also concerned about the mess of multiple plugins causing page speed issues etc...
My instinct is to go with WordPress, but I'm keen to hear what others think or have experience of.

I believe this should allow you to maintain consistent plugins / settings etc across multiple sites.

If wordpress is working for you already I don't see any reason to change that for the US site (using a different blog software for that site might introduce development or update issues in the future - better in my opinion to stick to one platform and know it well). Site speed should not be a problem as long as your server / coding setup is solid. If the time costs of maintaining the US blog is difficult you could alternatively rel canonical it to the UK blog which would help the duplicate content issue but of course not give any specific SEO value to the US site - it depends on what your aim is with the blog on each view and if you have the resources to support all the blogs or need to focus on properly supporting less of them until such time as resources become available

Blog.site.com vs site.com/blog
Which is better for SEO: blog.site.com or site.com/blog. In other words, is it better to have the blog running in a subdomain or as a director within the main site? Right now we are running as a subdomain, but want to be sure Google isn't considering that a separate site. Can We Publish Duplicate Content on Multi Regional Website / Blogs?
Today, I was reading Google's official article on Multi Regional website and use of duplicate content. Right now, We are working on 4 different blogs for following regions. And, We're writing unique content for each blog. But, I am thinking to use one content / subject for all 4 region blogs. I have read following paragraph on Google's official guidelines and It's inspire me to make it happen. Which is best solution for it? Websites that provide content for different regions and in different languages sometimes create content that is the same or similar but available on different URLs. This is generally not a problem as long as the content is for different users in different countries. While we strongly recommend that you provide unique content for each different group of users, we understand that this may not always be possible. There is generally no need to "hide" the duplicates by disallowing crawling in a robots.txt file or by using a "noindex" robots meta tag. However, if you're providing the same content to the same users on different URLs (for instance, if both example.de/ and example.com/de/ show German language content for users in Germany), you should pick a preferred version and redirect (or use the rel=canonical link element) appropriately. Is Publishing Content from a Book to your Site Considered Duplicate Content?
It is a book we don't own, either. Would you need to somehow find the original and rel=canonical it? Or is this just all around bad to do? Thanks.

We have used blogs on a good number of client sites and always got good results from having them. However do you feel its best to have a blog as a subdomain or included in the site ie blog.mydomain.com or mydomain.com/blog

Does it do any damage to post my blogs for marketing community websites on my own website too?
I'm blogging quite often for one of the biggest marketing community's in the Netherlands and I want to post these blogs on our own company's weblog too. Our own blog is meant for sharing professional know how and boosting our identity as professional web agency. But off course, we also benefit from it SEO wise. If I post these blogs on our own weblog, I have to add a link to the original article on the marketing community website. So, my question is: will that cause any damage for our own website?

Our blog is indexed by "google web" but does not show up in "google blogs". Why not and how can I fix this?

Tagging Your Blog Posts - Useful?
Has anyone demonstrated measurable value from routinely tagging your posts? I am of the mindset that what is good for a user/reader is good for SEO and therefore the posts should be tagged. I wanted to see if anyone else had specific experience to the positive or negative.
