Optimizing a product category vs. a bespoke content page

Hi there, I work for a furniture retailer in the UK and I have a question about ranking for search phrases.
Say I'm looking to rank for the keyword phrases: 'Tempur mattress' and 'Tempur mattress liverpool' and I have a category at: www.mysite.co.uk/tempur/ which list all of our mattresses, would I be better trying to optimize this page for those key phrases or would I be better generating a new page, say, www.mysite.co.uk/tempur-mattress-liverpool.html

I get the best rankings when I have category pages that organize and link to a number of different product pages, each with generous amounts of unique, substantive text content and images.
If I am selling brass widgets, I will first build many different pages for the different types of brass widgets that I sell. Each of those product pages will contain substantive content about that product, at least one photo - usually more, a buy button, and links to similar items (each with a photo, short description).
Then I will build a category page that has a photo of each item, a paragraph of text about it that is substantive enough to stand as a product description, a buy button, and a link to the full page description.
I believe that the above shows google that you have a large mass of diverse content about brass widgets, that consists of several substantive pages and a single page that summarizes your brass widget offerings.
I use this approach on info sites and on product sites. The category pages are my most effective at rankings and pulling in traffic.

Listing all services on one page vs separate pages per service
My company offers several generalized categories with more specific services underneath each category. Currently the way it's structured is if you click "Voice" you get a full description of each voice service we offer. I have a feeling this is shooting us in the foot. Would it be better to have a general overview of the services we offer on the "Voice" page that then links to the specified service? The blurb about the service on the overview page would be unique, not taken from the actual specific service's page.

Recommended Length for a Companies "Services" Page Content
I am in the process of revamping my company's website. I do WordPress Development, Design, and SEO consulting, and i'm running into a sort of writer's block when wring my services pages. For example, my page on WordPress Security has 388 words of "body" content, and I feel from a content perspective, it serves it's purpose, but from an SEO perspective it is considered a little light. I really don't know what the SOP is here, because, I've literally seen competitors sites have a page on "WordPress Security" rank on the first page of Google with absolutely no content, an empty page. I see a lot of the Moz posts are huge, thosands of words, and I know they perform very well (and they also have ton's of links / PR...etc) and I just want to do the right thing. I know sites like http://www.seerinteractive.com/our-services/search-engine-optimization have relatively short info pages as well. Thanks in advance for your feedback. One product two audiences, two pages or one
We have a product on the site that is used by two different groups of people, who refer to it with different terms. One group refers to it as "Lace yarn" plus around another 15 similar terms and the other group refers to it as "Crewel wool" with also 15 similar terms. I am having difficultly deciding how to approach this. At the moment it is on one page (http://www.renaissancedyeing.com/en/category/threads-yarns/crewel-wool/). would it be a good idea to split this into two pages?

View all Page for Product Overview Pages
Hi everybody! We have an ecommerce site with product overview pages, where sometimes there are hundreds of products listed. Usually, we just display 30 and have a button where users can click to see 30 more - or all products listed at once. The product overview page will hardly generate more traffic by listing all products (because the overview page will rank for generic keywords, while the product keyword searches will be referred to the specific product pages themselves). I was originally thinking of using rel=canonical pointing to the view-all page. But this would just lead to longer load time. Should we just leave those overview pages or is there a best practice for how to deal with such pages? Thanks for your thoughts on this!0 -
Issue: Duplicate Page Content (index.htm)
I get an error of "**Issue:**Duplicate Page Content" for the following pages in the SEOMOZ Crawl Diagnostics. But these pages are the same one! Duhhhh.... Blog page outranks static page for KW -- why?
Blog page ranks 10 in Google, while the static page is on page 7. What makes it more interesting is that the blog page scores an "F" with the Term Target tool while the static page scores an "A". Static page has more inbound links and a mR/mT of 3.89/ 4.54 vs. 3.71/ 4.14 for the blog page. Any ideas on how to approach this one?
