Tasks for Google Analytics training
-
Hi Mozzers,
I'm delivering some Google Analytics (Fundamentals level) training, and trying to make it was fun and as interesting as possible... which is quite a challenge when it comes to GA.
I was just wondering if you're aware of training tasks, or interactions, I could bring into this kind of training session?
The group are particularly interested in user journeys and the effectiveness of content.
Thanks!

Hey!
Have them come up with better ways on how to analyse the content and it's context around it. Looking at how good a post performs is nice, but knowing what the context is around the post: data, time, author, topic is way more interesting if you do this at scale. That's why it could be good to not only have them think about doing the analysis, but also have them think about what kind of other context related areas they can track.
Second thing I would say is learning them more about the power of User ID tracking and event tracking as they can provide a better insight into what the specific customer journey looks like.

Hi,
Well, depending on the level of training/knowledge, you could have them find the answer to various questions in a G/A account. So, things like:
-
of organic visitors to a given page
-
of conversions by a channel
-
Navigation summary to a given page or goal.
You could ask less absolute questions, such as "what's wrong with the user signals on this page by x channel?"
You could have them create a working goal or segment or recurring report.
You could have them look over a G/A account and find three insights (opportunities, problems, etc) and be prepared to discuss them.
The possibilities are endless. Is that what you're getting at? Please let me know.
Best... Mike

Do I need a separate Google Analytics ID for a subdomain on my website?
Hello Everyone, I would like to know if I need a separate Google Analytics ID for a subdomain on my website? I have a sub-domain within my website, and the software for the site on the subdomain is asking for a Google Analytics ID. Should I be using the same Google Analytics ID as the main domain or should I be creating a new Google Analytics profile or ID? Thanks. Ryan

How to FILTER in Google Analytics an ad campaign from linkedin?
Hi mozzers We are setting up an a linkedin ad campaign for our agency and want to track its traffic and conversions. The linkedin ad will carry UTMs for each link. For tracking this campaign accurately I thought about creating a new GA View with a specific filter. So my question is about the filtering, should i use the INCLUDE, REFERRAL with pattern LINKEDIN.COM (see image)? if not what would be the best way to track this campaign? My other concern is that we are also running other a job ad on linkedin and I feel these hits will be tracked as well. Is there a way to separate those 2 campaigns? Thanks guys! MzE5hqE.png

Google Analytics, new property or views?
Hi All We have an existing Google analytics account which was customised relatively heavily a few years back, with custom variables, e-commerce tracking and the a large number of filters. We have determined that the custom variables and e-commerce tracking, at least for now, are no longer required and actually complicating our lives. We want to simplify the account and add a fresh set of goals and events. Our initial train of thought was to create an entire new property with the usual views, raw, test, main etc. We are proposing to retain both properties (6 months) so we can still do some comparative stuff. We're now wondering if we should retain the existing property and just create new views, the downside being that whilst we can compare data with previous periods it's meaningless to some degree as the filters etc are different. The plus of more views is that we're not firing the tag twice retaining two properties. Views and opinions welcome. Thanks

Some questions on how to set up a multi-visit advanced segment in Google Analytics
Hi I would like some assistance / clarification on how to set up a user segment so that it can track user behavior over multiple visits. Basically I have a campaign set up and want to see conversions - even if they hit the site and then convert later on another visit. I've read that you can do this (over up to 30 days). So I start off by filtering TRAFFIC SOURCE - easy enough. But then I have to add under "advanced" correct? But then when I set the next filter to the GOAL I want, I only get "by session" and "by hit" as options. The blog post I read made it sound like only "by user" would then really do multi visits. Is "by user" only an e-commerce tracking option? (which I don't have set up) Is there another way/path to get the info I need? Thank you!

Viewing 'overall' data for multiple Google Analytics accounts
Is there any way you can view data from all of your Google Analytics accounts? For example, if I wanted to view know how much mobile traffic all my sites had, could I do this? Rather than just looking at each site individually. Thanks
